My family and two friends have just returnd from a ski holiday in the Edelweiss and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Klaus and Veronika and their staff make you feel so welcome and as though nothing is too much trouble, which it isn't!! I can only describe it as if you... more

Just returned from a 4 day Thomson Bargain Break. The Eidelweiss was the perfect place to stay. Just on the edge of town(5 mins walk to the centre) with a beautiful mountain backdrop to greet you in the morning. You can even hear the alpine cow bells in the distant. The... more

My wife and I always like to explore new places and it is an indication of our high regard for the Edelweiss Hotel and its friendly, helpful staff that this is the first time that we have been back to the same place for two consecutive years! We took our 21 year old... more

Fantastic hotel. I cannot understand one of the comments written here saying it was 1/10. This is our second time at the hotel. We have very high standards at home and my partner is a gourmet cook and we think the hotel was super clean, Super friendly staff, Full board... more

A lovely hotel, good food, good location, ruined only by one member of staff who made little effort to be friendly or helpful. She did in fact manage to make most people feel uncomfortable with her dissapproving glare, and took of advantage of every opportunity to replace... more

Loved the Edelweiss. Rooms are comfortable - not luxurious, but perfectly adequate with balcony and great views. Staff are very friendly and professional. Breakfast buffet was really good and we really enjoyed the evening meal. If your idea of a good meal is McDonalds, it's... more

We stayed at the Hotel Edelweiss, arrived 24th Feb 2007. The rooms are tiny, bathroom only had a shower and was too small to stand up in (I am only 5ft 6in tall). We complained but nothing was done and for the rest of the holiday, the staff were very unfriendly. Also... more

Friendly Hotel Edelweiss
Stayed at The Edelweiss in May 2007, booked with Thomson. Great hotel very clean, staff and oweners very helpful, buffet breakfast best I have had in Austria, loads of different meats, three types of bread, cereals, cheeses, jams, fruit jucies, tea, coffee, { be warned could keep you awake for weeks} bacon, scrambled eggs, tinned fruit, fresh fruit, yoghurts plus you can take a packed lunch free if you want from the breakfast buffet. Dinner is for the price paid good, you get a choice of main course, plus there is always soup, salad bar, starter and sweet, the once a week farmers buffet is excellent. Free tea, coffee and cake three times a week but not worth running down the mountian for, so if you don't make it dont worry. It is at the side of the train line but no problems with noise in the hotel or outside for that matter, it wont spoil your holiday. It has a nice garden with sun loungers and garden tables and chairs. It is about 5 - 8 mins steady walk from the centre of Kitzbuhel. If you want a taxi the hotel will call one for you. Only downside is no service at the hotel between 11am and 3pm {but your more than likely to be out} and the bar shuts at 10pm, so we went into town in the evenings, we are not drunks but do not want to go to bed at 10pm or get drinks in and sit there with warm wine or worse still warm flat beer. All in all for what you pay you can't complain. Mel
Very Good
We stayed at the Hotel Edelweiss 3rd Feb 2007 for 7 days, very friendly and a fantastically organised hotel. Food was good, with afternoon refreshments (cakes etc.) when you get off the slopes. Klaus and his wife were extremely good hosts, bar closed a little early at around 10 pm (being welsh perhaps that was a good thing) no seriously that was late enough after a hard day. Snow was not brilliant this year (like many resorts) but it did not stop us skiing, just made the runs that were open a little busy. We would all (party of 8) definitely go back to the Edelweiss again.
Brilliant
I stayed during the half term in feb for ski season. the snow was not very good so there was limited skiing bu the hotel was fantastic. the staff were so friendly and would do anything to help you. the hotel cleanliness was brilliant. i have never seen such a spotless hotel. every day they gave you a packed lunch which saved you a fortune when you went out for the day and the meals in the night were brill. You were never hungry. At 4 - 6 in the afternoon there was tea and cakes and a little snack. the rooms were very comfortable and cleaned every day. overall excellent hotel
We stayed during July 2006
We stayed at the Edelweiss during an extreme heatwave and the hotel was like a sauna. Make sure you ask for a room on 1st or 2nd floor - you don't want to be in the eaves!! Food was adequate - we never went hungry - but don't expect gourmet! The ability to make lunch from breakfast is good and also coffee and cake 3 times a week was very acceptable. The owners are friendly and organised a normal breakfast buffett for us on our last day even though we were picked up at 0645!! Overall the hotel was comfortable but not luxurious - we won't stay there again.
Early Nights!
A superbly run family hotel where the food and accommodation standards are well above average. Two small niggles - the hotel "shuts down" between 12pm and 3pm each day so no refreshments are available during these hours - I would certainly recommend taking your own tea/coffee making facilities - also the bar shuts at 9pm each evening - so it's a very quick drink after dinner or a trek to a bar/cafe in town for any further refreshment - not what you want to do if you've been out walking/trekking/climbing all day! That said - it did not spoil the holiday one bit and we have nothing but praise for the owners and staff alike.
great place
An excellent hotel. Great location and very clean and comfortable. The staff are really friendly and the food was wonderful - loads of it too!!
Excellant Hotel
This was our first time in Austria and first time skiing, so we really did not know what to expect. But the hotel Edelweiss and Brian our ski instructor from the ski school were more than we could ever wish for. The hotel is a family run business and Klaus and his wife Veronica are the nicest people you could ever wish to meet, they take an interest in all aspects of the holiday not just how you are enjoying the hotel but how you get on each day with the skiing. The rooms are large with either shower or bath some have balconies, and the views are marvoulous of the mounains you can even ski direct to the door weather permitting. The food was excellant and the wine was perfection as they have there own wine cellar and in the summer months they have wine tasting. All of the staff are polite and nothing is too much trouble. In the winter months when you return from skiing they have tea, coffee and cakes every day. We are already arranging out next visit for next year and we only returned last night. Highley reccommend this hotel and area. We also met with really nice people who we will keep in touch with, the people who stayed in the hotel and could ski always gave words of encouragement which I tought was really nice.
This is our little secret hideaway
We simply love the place. Really freindly Smashing location Great Food and wine tasting to boot! We will be back just as often as we can
great hotel all round
I thought the hotel was very nice and had an authentic Austrian theme to it. The hotel managers were very welcoming and very interested in how happy you are with your stay. The food is top class and the breackfast is just what you need to start your day. The apres ski buffet is lovely. I certainly would return there again and recommend it to my friends.
Excellent Family Run Hotel -
We stayed at the Edelweiss in May 2004 for 11 nights. Our first trip to Austria. Klaus & Veronique and their family who own/run this hotel are excellent hosts making you feel very welcome and take a great interest in your holiday. We loved the way they dress in the traditional dress to serve dinner. We paid a supplement for a room with balcony and we were not disappointed. The room was huge, in fact it was a family room so plenty of room for the 2 of us. There was a large bathroom with bath and shower but the shower was only half way up the wall so you couln't stand up in it! The food was excellent too, buffet breakfasts which always included some hot food like bacon and scrambled eggs. You could also make up a packed lunch with the rolls, meats and cheeses, fruit and some wonderful Austrian wafer biscuits. Cartons of juice were provided also. Tea and cakes were served 3 times a week. The evening meals were superb, always a choice, delicious salad bars and I have never tasted broccoli, cauliflower and green beans so good in a sald. The chef has been with the family for over 10 years so that speaks for itself. If "Spatzle" is on the menu, try it. It is Austrian pasta with pan fried onions. The hotel has a cozy lounge area, beautifully furnished where you can mix with other guests. We met some really nice people on this holiday. As we were there the start of the season, Kitzbuhel was a little deserted at night so we just stayed in the hotel most nights. Hubby got a real taste for Weiss beer (wheat beer) from the bar! The hotel also has its own wine cellar and Klaus hosts tours for a wine tasting evening. The hotel is situated less than 5 minutes walk from the centre in a nice quiet area. The railway line runs right next to the hotel and trains so run through the day and night but it never bothered us one bit. Would thoroughly recommend the Edelweiss. We had a fabulous holiday, made new friends, and we have lots of wonderful memories
