Dream holiday at the Edelweiss
10 / 10
Jan 2012, longboy68

My family and two friends have just returnd from a ski holiday in the Edelweiss and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Klaus and Veronika and their staff make you feel so welcome and as though nothing is too much trouble, which it isn't!!
I can only describe it as if you were staying with family or close friends and not in a hotel, the atmosphere is so relaxed and welcoming.
For convenience to the hahnenkamm lift and the start of the town it is superb, only being a twwo minute walk along the small path, with amazing views off all the balconies.
Our room was cosy and very comfortable with all the conveniences that you would expect.
The food was superb and plentiful, with the added bonus that every afternoon they provide tea, coffee and gorgeous cakes to ease you into the afternoon (which is nno good if you're watching your diet race off into the sunset!!).
All in all, I would say JUST BOOK IT!! You won't regret it.

Just returned from a 4 day Thomson Bargain Break. The Eidelweiss was the perfect place to stay. Just on the edge of town(5 mins walk to the centre) with a beautiful mountain backdrop to greet you in the morning. You can even hear the alpine cow bells in the distant. The family who run the hotel are perfect hosts and you will not find a better run hotel. Highly recommended and would definitley like to go again. Kitzbuhel is a gem of a place.

My wife and I always like to explore new places and it is an indication of our high regard for the Edelweiss Hotel and its friendly, helpful staff that this is the first time that we have been back to the same place for two consecutive years! We took our 21 year old daughter this time and the Edelweiss proved an ideal base for us all. It is only a short walk from Kitzbuhel town centre with its nice cafes, restaurants and bars and it is an ideal base for walking in the hills and mountains. I'd also recommend a swim in the Scwarzee Lake - a bit cold when you get in but a really invigorating experience - in a quite beautiful setting. The Thomson reps were good fun and very helpful - this was a very happy holiday. Klaus, Veronika, Andrea and Sarah were all great hosts. Most rooms have balconies and our room had a lovely view. The Hotel is near the cable-cars which take you up to the local Tyrolean peaks if you don't want to walk. Strongly recommended.

Wonder,Relaxing and Special

This holiday was so special made like this by our treatment by Klaus, Veronica, his sister inlaw and all his staff. First time in Austria but very impressed at the warmth and beauty, also the wit and charm of all who made our stay so welcome. We couldnt have asked for more. Lovely food from breakfast throught to dinner each day. I loved the little meaniful piece lovingly written on the back page of the Menu as well as the tempeture for the morning and evening. And if it was raining one could borrow one of the many unbrellas in the hall.
Hotel in lovely area close to all that is important - the gondala, swimming pool and centre of town - especially in the evening where one could stroll down and enjoy the many openair concerts of local bands. Never a dull moment..... cannot wait to return hopfully in winter this time tjust to compare notes.

  • Advice: Its a beautiful town, very clean with lovely openair concerts at night and a very nice museum well w
  • Activities: The mountains took my breath away and the views........
  • Good For: Ski

Have been many times to Hotel Edelweiss including walking holiday in the summer. Klaus and Veronique are very friendly helpful, professional and they are backed up by a very friendly competent team.
The breakfast buffet is great, the evening meal is a delight. The rooms are clean, quiet, comfortable with great views.
Nothing is too much trouble for them to make your stay a lovely experience. You meet many other guests who have also returned again and again.

Fantastic hotel. I cannot understand...

Jun 2008, Mr J Smith

Fantastic hotel. I cannot understand one of the comments written here saying it was 1/10. This is our second time at the hotel. We have very high standards at home and my partner is a gourmet cook and we think the hotel was super clean, Super friendly staff, Full board basis when you pack your own picnic style lunch, adequate rooms with a fabulous shower(and I am 6ft) and great food!. The location is great, the town has lots to offer whether it is walking you like, biking, shopping, etc... It is all in Kitzbuhel or the surrounding area. Klaus and his team have certainly got a tight ship with the aim of making a perfect holiday for all his guests. He is the perfect host. The food is always varied and there is always plenty of it. Soup, salads, good main course and a refreshing end to the meal for the sweet toothed. You also get a free small beer or wine with every meal. Yes there is a walk to the Kitzbuhel Horn cable car station but how is that the fault of the hotel? Book a hotel near that cable car station if that was what you wanted. The Hannenkamm Cable car station is literally a couple of minutes walk and the train station next to it! What a place. This is our secret hideaway too! People who have complained must have been unlucky that week or just like complaining. Try it, I am sure you will want to visit again and again...

A lovely hotel, good food, good...

May 2008, Mr R Richards

A lovely hotel, good food, good location, ruined only by one member of staff who made little effort to be friendly or helpful. She did in fact manage to make most people feel uncomfortable with her dissapproving glare, and took of advantage of every opportunity to replace her thin smile with a scowl. Rooms were adequate, if not a little small. Well situated for walks into town (and thus avoiding unfriendly barmaid) and within easy 'booted and suited' walk to ski lift (300 metres).

Loved the Edelweiss. Rooms are comfortable - not luxurious, but perfectly adequate with balcony and great views. Staff are very friendly and professional. Breakfast buffet was really good and we really enjoyed the evening meal. If your idea of a good meal is McDonalds, it's maybe not for you, but for good traditional Austrian food and ambience it's great. Hotel has a very comfortable lounge and bar area. Location is close to Hannenkamm lift station - a short 5 min walk - and close to town - an easy 10 mins walk for that early evening pre-dinner gluhwein. Really enjoyed overall stay, returning in Jan 2008 and no doubt in future years too.

Mar 2007, C Perring

We stayed at the hotel from 17th March 2007, there was 4 adults in our party (2 couples). It was our first experience of boarding within Europe outside of France. This hotel is fantastic, food was great and Klaus and his team were great, very friendly with superb service.
The hotel is about 200 metres from the Kitzbuhel Hannkannen lifts, at the lift you can get the ski bus to other places like Pass Thurn, or get the Ring bus to the Kitzbuhel Horn (quieter area), good for boarding, this takes about 10 minutes.
At the hotel, you can make a packed lunch in the morning from the buffet which cuts down on the lunchtime expenditure (more money for beer).
The conditions were like summer when we arrived in resort which was worrying, however by the second day we had 2 foot of fresh snow covering the whole area including the resort itself.
We found ourselves staying in the hotel most nights because it was so good, we went to the main Thomson hotel for quiz night on the Sunday and I was so glad we chose Edelweiss as it was in a different league.
I would recommend this hotel for families / couples looking to go boarding / skiiing in an exclusive resort whilst wanting excellence service and hospitality.
If I could move this hotel to the French alpes then I would be a happy man, would teach the french a few things about running a hotel.

We stayed at the Hotel Edelweiss,...
1 / 10
Mar 2007, Ms C Conway-Burke

We stayed at the Hotel Edelweiss, arrived 24th Feb 2007.
The rooms are tiny, bathroom only had a shower and was too small to stand up in (I am only 5ft 6in tall).
We complained but nothing was done and for the rest of the holiday, the staff were very unfriendly.
Also the evening meal was poor.
We stayed for 7 nights, but only ate in the hotel twice. Other guests we also met said the same thing. There were plenty of places to eat out, prices are the same as at home and of course there is McDonalds!
The hotel is located well for the Hannenkham Lift but quiet a trek for the Kitzbuler Horn lift. It takes 10 mins to walk to the centre of town, taking the short trek along the train line (which is unlit at night and not ideal).
We were very lucky as it snowed a couple of times during our stay and we had perfect conditions by Wednesday.
I would not be recommending the Edelweiss hotel or Crystal Holidays as I found both unhelpful, and had the potential to ruin our holiday, but we did not let this happen.
We just got on with it ourselves and had a great time.

Staying in the Edelweisse was the cap...

Staying in the Edelweisse was the cap on a wonderful holiday in Kitzbuhel. The staff of the Edelweiss were warm friendly and full of good humour.
We were six and had a wonderful time in Kitzbuhel. The accommodation was fine, the food was wonderful - we had a standard breakfast - I liked the porridge best, a packed lunch everyday and in the evening when we returned home tired and exhausted after an active day we had a lovely five course meal with lovely wine.
Congratulations to the Edelweiss. Strongly recommended.
