Oct 2007, Miss E Best

This hotel is located 5 mins walk from Old Street tube. We stayed there as had a cheap deal (they sometimes do a £1 offer - although we didn't get it as cheap as that!). Area hotel in isn't the most salubrious - although hotel itself is very nice. Has a modern, slightly... more

The Hoxton has reasonably sized modern rooms with plasma TV and all the amenities you could need. The bathroom was pukka, with a shower big enough for two! We also enjoyed a delicious, value for money meal in the hotel's 'Grille' restaurant. It was great to have a... more

Refreshing Hotel with nice extra touches
Stayed for 1 night with a £1 special offer (yes £1). Simple touches like complimentary milk and water in your room added to a very pleasant stay. The location of the Hotel is good, nearest tube Old Street, with loads of bars and entertainment on your doorstep, not that there was any noice when sleeping. Also handy for a Brick Lane curry! Hotel rooms are modern with plasma tv, average size (more than big enough for 2 of us) and a large shower. Even the free lite pret breakfast of banana, oj, and yoghurt was enough to set me on my... more
Great hotel, but they need to ask Islington Council to fix loose road access!!
Arrived via Tube at Old Street Station - take exit 6 and walk straight on for 3-5 minutes, and the hotel is on the right. The area itself is not really very nice - this is not the sort of place you want to bring your mom and grandmother for a touristy break. This is for young people who want to party, City-visitors, or people like me who just hate touristy areas and prefer to stay in someplace a bit more out-of-the-way but still close enough to the action to get there easily. Check in was fine, very friendly clerk who sold us a can of... more
Fantastic Hotel in the heart of trendy Hoxton
My partner and I booked the Hoxton on the opening offer of £29 and we were very pleased with our stay. The check in was quick and effcient and we were allocated a room on the third floor to the rear of the hotel. Having read some previous reviews we were concerned that the room would be nosiy but this was not the case at all. The room was quite small but was very comfortable with a well lit and designed shower room. We had lunch in the restaurant which was fantastic and the best club sandwich I have had anywhere. Staff were... more
Great value in an interesting area
Stayed for 3 nights at the Hoxton on one of their opening deals (£55 per night). The room was small but fine for us and the beds were really comfortable. Stylish additions like the chaise longue and the flat screen TV were nice and the showerroom with heated mirror was great. We ordered room service which was quick and really excellent and I loved the free breakfast - very quick and easy. The staff were friendly and helpful and the bar area was lovely - with some really unusual cocktails. My mojito was great but didn't have the... more
What more do you need?
Stayed for one night, and found the room to be far superior to ones you would normally spend £75 on. Yes, the view was awful,(not sure if people were expecting the city skyline), and rooms were smallish, but we don't take cats to swing anyway. It was clean, comfortable, stylish and in the centre of things. The shower was brilliant and the breakfast was the healthiest I've eaten in a long time! We were in one of the 'noisy' rooms at the back of the hotel, and slept like logs. Would book it again like a shot.
Cool vibe, Budget luxury- highly recommended!
I love this hotel's concept- "budget luxury" and no rip offs. The prices are all reasonable- phone calls, in-room broadband, room service.. Nice for a change! My husband and I stayed here for one night just to check it out and would both highly recommend it. The hotel/rooms were very nicely decorated, the bathrooms very stylish and we liked the free take-away breakfast (Pret OJ, yoghurt with muesli and a banana- it's all you need really). The rooms are smallish, but perfect for a short stay or longer stay for one person. The hotel... more
Reason number 1 to visit London!!!
I am always a bit cautious about staying in newly opened hotels, but I didn't need to worry about anything. Despite having been open for only 6 days, everything was perfect. While most designer hotels have snotty staff, everyone at the Hoxton was very friendly and professional. Everything is planned extremely well, as if it had been designed with me in mind. Everytime I reached for a light switch, it was exactly where it should be!! The beds and duvets were super comfortable and oh my, the showers were divine!! Although we only stayed 1... more
noisy - glass bottles smashing at 3 a.m. etc.
We stayed at the Hoxton on Saturday 23rd September paying £59 for a double room [no. 123, first floor]. The hotel manager has not responded to our email complaint about noise and comments about rats / recycling glass issues in Willow Street. Simply, our advice is not to stay in this hotel if you’re a light sleeper or think you may be disturbed by noise either from the main road at the front of the hotel or the delivery, bin lorry, service bay and anti social glass recycling noise that goes on at times between 2 am and 8 am. Heavy... more
Nice new hotel
I took advantage of the cheap opening internet deals and spent 5 nights at the Hoxton hotel, using it as base camp for my daily visits into nearby Clerkenwell. I arrived with my wife on a Sunday afternoon and check-in was a breeze. We were given a couple of key cards for a double room on the fifth floor at the back of the hotel overlooking Willow Street. Coming out of the lift, we made our way to the room though a dark-carpeted corridor lit by flourescent lighting behind coloured perspex. Outside the bedroom door is a hook for... more
2nd Stay - Much Better!
I returned to the Hoxton for a 2nd stay, and I'd like to pass on my advice for the best stay possible at this hotel. Firstly, you don't need to hand over your credit card if you think you'll not incur expenses during your stay. Secondly, to avoid noise, ask for a room at the back, not over looking grt eastern street, and not overlooking the atrium as both these locations are very noisy. I got a room overlooking willow st at the back of the hotel - this is an access road and rarely used by traffic. Unlike my previous visit where I... more
