Stayed 10/03/07. Hotel Kitzhof is simply gorgeous! It’s our 4th time in Kitzbuhel and we have stayed at other hotels (supposed to be 4*) This is our 2nd stay here. Just walking into the Hotel and you realise this is a special place.

The bedroom is fab, bathroom large, shower IS a power shower. Views from bedroom outstanding, we had a view of the Hornbahn and a picturesque view of the town churches. The food was outstanding, breakfast consisted of everything from cereal, yogurts, cake, smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, bacon, fresh juices (you could even squeeze your own orange juice) croissants, toast, coffee, tea etc, the evening meal well that was in a different league, one menu for the evening: salad from the salad bar, choice of soup. Beef with dumplings or potato and leek.

Main course. pan fried duck breast with spiced apple red cabbage in a cranberry jus. With rosemary potatoes. it was to die for. The desserts and choice of cheese fantastic. Every evening a different menu.(including an excellent vegetarian choice) Normally we go out into the town to eat a least once during our stay, but this time I don't believe we would have found a restaurant to equal the food at the kitzhof.

The staff were so friendly, you actually felt at home, actually I really did feel at home as one corner of the lounge had been set up to represent that living room feeling. All in all we had a fantastic stay. Oh did i mention that the ski-ing (although no snow on lower slopes) was actually exceptional. by the end of the day we were shattered...

The rooms are clean, comfortable and have plenty of storage - enough for both me and my boyfriend!!! The staff are very accomodating and friendly. The food is fantastic. Decor is tasteful. Will definitely stay again

We stayed at the Kitzhof Feb 2007. We arrived after dark and were delighted by the initial impression. The reception and the bar area where very welcoming, lots of light wood, an open fire, cosy chairs and sofas and a huge glass perimeter with lovely nightime views across to the village. It smelled delightful - of warm wood and pine..... Our room was very clean, tastefully decorated, warm with plenty of storage space. Doors opened onto a balcony with views to the rear of the hotel grounds and across to the mountains. Plenty of hot water for soaking in the tub after a hard day on the slopes.

We stayed on a half board basis and so ate at the hotel most nights. There was a good choice of soups, salads and main course and a vegetarian option most nights. Wine list is varied - lots of Austrian wine and some more familiar ones too. The staff were very friendly & helpful - certainly helped my husband out on our anniversary!

Its a 5-10 minute walk to the Hahnenkamm lift and town centre and unless you are very comfortable walking in ski boots would recommend renting a locker the the foot of the ski lifts.

The hotel makes a lovely base even for non-skiers. Relaxing in the bar area by the fire with a good book alternating hot chocolate with the best Gluwein in the resort - such hardship!

We'd thoroughly recommend this hotel and would certainly consider visiting in the summer.

We stayed at Hotel Kitzhof from 11th March - 18th March with 10 people in total. We were there on a snowboarding/ski holiday.

The hotel is in the centre of Kitz resort and looks lovely from the outside, and the view from the hotel is exceptional of the mountains, all around.

The staff seemed very helpful and spoke fine English. Inside the hotel bar and sitting area was lovely, with a large central fire in one side, and seating and a bar in the other.

Half the sitting area had huge glass windows which gave a stunning view.

The restaurant and choice of food was amazing, each night there was a new menu which never failed to impress. There was always adequate seating and food available even for later breakfasts. Again you could see some of the mountains from the restaurant area

The bedrooms were clean, well sized and all round fine. The bathrooms were also clean and a good size. Most rooms had a balcony which again gave lovely views.

There was a sauna, steam room and gym all included and you could get a massage for about £20-£30 which one of our friends said was brilliant

The hotel was about a 10-15 minute walk to the main lift which was a bit of a hassle with all your ski/boarding kit.

You could get a bus from the end of 1 slope which took about 20 minutes to get back to the hotel, we did this at the end of a couple of days if we were too tired to board back to the main lifts.

Overall I would say the hotel is stunning in everyway. The only downside is the distance to the main lift. It’s not the kind of hotel you can board to, but then again I'm not sure how many of those there are in Kitz.

I would stay there again, but I would probably see if there were more buses or a free taxi from the hotel.

Overall I would say Hotel Kitzhof is 8/10, and only letdown by its location.

We have just returned from one week skiing in Kitzbuhel, our third visit to the resort, and our first stay at The Kitzhof. I would highly recommend this hotel, especially for couples or families with younger children. We had 3 older children and I must say the facilities are limited at the hotel and the resort generally for teenagers. The staff are extemely friendly and helpful. The rooms are lovely and generally the whole place is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated and apportioned. The bedrooms have mini bar and safe, complimentary slippers and robes. The meals are superb although very very limited for children. There is supposed to be a weekly themed buffet evening but we didn't get one! The drinks in my opinion were expensive in comparison to other hotels we have stayed in for skiing. We walked everyday to the gondola because we'd hired lockers for our skiis and boots, otherwise you would certainly need the ski bus. The hotel is attractive from the outside and all rooms have a view of the slopes. There is a children's playroom plus a pool table and air hockey table. It could do with a TV lounge and perhaps more evening entertainment. It's not a cosy hotel, it's too modern and open aspect for that but the furnishings are comfortable and the ambiance is welcoming. Kitzbuhel itself could offer more in the evenings for families, there is only swimming. There is a large SportPark complex but ice skating is only available on Friday evenings! There is an outside rink but it's very subject to the weather conditions. Bowling there does not open till the summer. There is a cinema but it does not show films in English. There are numerous bars for apres ski but they really do not encourage families. I would highly recommend an Italian restaurant in the centre of town at the bottom of the glass lift. The snow was very limited for us this year and we therefore made the effort to ski over to Jochberg and Pass Thurn - which I highly recommend anyway, the runs are practically empty and much wider.

I would highly recommend this hotel. Newly refurbished, the rooms are spacious with good storage, balconies overlook the beautiful city (with a breathtaking view of the mountains), tasteful Austrian decorations, and cosy down comforters. The bar is magnificent - it is very modern and hip with big couches, lots of space and an amazing view of the mountains. The restaurant is also nice. The breakfast is large and diverse and the dinner is excellent. The centre of town is only 5 minutes walk. Kitzbühel is a very special town and I would recommend it to nature and sports enthusiasts. You will not be disappointed.

Stopped at the Kitzhof for a weeks skiing in March 2006.

Lovely hotel - everthing feels brand new. Excellent large spa/sauna area. Good big bar area, with leather sofas and an open fire plus mountain side views. Rooms nicely done, if a little small.

We stopped half board. Food of a high standard - mixture of buffet and table service.

Hotel is 10 min wlak from town centre and the main ski lift, which is a bit further than ideal.

Would thoroughly recommend as either a base for skiing or a summer holiday.

Stayed at the Kitzhof for a week in August 2005. It is just a few minutes walk from the town centre. Had a lovely big room with balcony overlooking the mountains. Breakfast buffets were excellent, just about anything you could wish for was provided. Evening meals were good too, a couple of buffets during the week added variety. Staff were friendly and helpful, all in all a wonderful stay.

The hotel rooms were nice and comfortable with great views of the mountains. The food was pretty good, but although we were on an all inclusive basis we still ate out most nights. The staff were excellent at the range of drinks and snacks at the bar was great. The hotel was quite quiet as we were a bit out of season- but lucky for us it snowed whilst we were there!

Good safe storage of ski wear in the cellar- and good location only took about 7 minutes to walk to the centre. Although this can be quite far to the hannenkam if you have ski wear on!

All in all a good reasonably priced hotel.

We have just returned from a fabulous week in Kitzbuhel, a truly beautiful place.

The Astron is ideally situated for all the amenities, ski bus stop a 2 minute walk away, the main town 5 minutes, nursery slopes/ski school 5/10 minutes away.

There was a fantastic FREE boot room with heated bootracks and lockable ski racks. Other places were charging upwards of 10 euros a week.

Our room was a lovely surprise, we had a "lounge" with a sofa which converted to a bed, table/chairs/desk/tv/mini bar/safe. Separate bedroom with ensuite bathroom equipped with a wonderful shower.

Food was great, bar well stocked. Helpful staff and well run reception.

Only critisism was that the "no smoking" area of the restuarant was a foot away from the filfthy smokers so they may as well have not bothered.

A wonderful place. Can't wait to go back. If you want to book ski lessons we can recommend Kutzbuhel skischule Rote Teufel based at the Rasmushof. We went from never having skiied before to partial reds in 3 days.
