We spent the first week in March at the Orgler hotel, I must say we had a nice time there.

The food was good and our room was very large, but It seemed we were in the dark most of the time, the lights need to be updated and the curtaines need to be repaired. The rooms are very old and tatty and need updateing like most of the hotel. Haveing skied in most resorts over the last thirty odd years and stayed in many hotels , I would say the hotel Orgler was the one that got left behind. money needs to be spent on it to bring it up to standard.

Haveing said all that we did have a nice time, the staff were very nice and friendly.

It wouldn't put me off going there again, but I dont think the Orgler should be a four star hotel, it more like a three star with four star prices.

We have just returned from a great holiday in Kaprun, this is a wonderful village location, the snow had gone in the village but Kitzsteinhorn Glacier more than made up for it. We went for a friends wedding at the Orgler Hotel - the wedding was fantastic and the village in the sun made a perfect location.

The hotel it self was a little disappointing, based on a 4* . The room was very dark - the window was facing another wall and to get a view of the Glacier I had to clime out the window. The room was oddly painted and the wardrobe handles either fell of or where not attached, the bathroom light was also very dark and we had to keep the door open to be able to see.

The service was average (although below average for a 4 *) I had requested anti allergy (non feathered) bedding, however the hotel receptionist informed me that they did not have any. The food was a good spread, my boyfriend thought it was good, however the Vegetarian concept was entertaining. (to be fair I think this may be Austria in general rather then the hotel) .

I did take the opportunity the look around other hotels , for future visits and Hotel Tauernhof is one that I would go for next time. I also think self catering or BB would be a fantastic idea.

The only down side to Kaprun is the village church bells at 6am in the morning (36 bells in fact). There are many places to visit like Zell am See, which holds a beautiful lake, we where lucky enough to see it before the Ice started to melt. There is also a bus from Zell that takes you to the waterfalls in Krimmel.

We spent 2 weeks in Austria this year starting on the Tuesday before Feb half term and ending the Tuesday after half term.

We spend 10 days in Zell Am See and 4 days in neighbouring Kaprun. This review is regarding the 4 days in Kaprun.

There wasn't much snow this year but fortunately Kaprun has its own Glacier so there was no problem there! The views are stunning and the skiing is excellent.

Location: Kaprun is a lovely town and we stayed in the heart of it just over the road from the ski bus stop to take you to the ski runs. It was also just over the road from the base of Maiskogel (the family or beginners mountain).

Hotel: Absolutely wonderful. Our balcony faced the glacier and was sunny all afternoon. Our room was absolutely perfect. The food was superbly cooked and all of the staff were friendly and helpful even though they were extremely busy.

Cost: It is quite expensive but well worth every penny. There are various offers that can be found on their website. The cost of travel was really cheap through thomsonfly.com as we avoided the Saturday flight rush!
