just got back from a really relaxing holiday.Weather not good to start with but sun appeared halfway through holiday so did manage to get a bit of a tan !. san jaime appartments were very good clean and fresh towels twice in week we were there. went to chill out and this was just right place to do this , i know it was quite early in season but it was so peaceful no louts about just people enjoying their holiday . only one real complaint pool was freezing !!!. SON BOU itsself was lovely do visit kitkat bar and josephs both made us feel relly welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them.Complex was nicely spread so didnt feel overcrowded although may be like that in high season . would certainly go back again as came back from there feeling well chilled out ! didnt want to come home

Arrived 9th May pooring down with rain, woke up saturday still pooring down with rain, which is obviously know ones fault, went to the welcome meeting (if you can call it a welcome meeting) we were just given leaflets in the corridor, wasn't told to go upstairs where everyone else was, she didnt tell us, we just thought that was it!, thomson rep was not very helpful at all,
Apartments spot on, you couldn't fault them!! Pool lovely, although 1 youngster was cut by a broken tile on the pool floor. and another youngster blistered on fingers and toes, as they were told by the chemist was due to, too much chlorine!! Bar staff miserable, some of the reps, (WHEN YOU SAW THEM) miserable, no entertainment at all for the kids during the bad weather, infact no enteratinment full stop on the complex, which really annoyed me!!! everyone going stare crazy, Rep says coz the season hadn't started, MY ADVICE TOUR OPERATORS is, DON'T SELL holidays, when it's out of season, that it my eyes is FALSE advertisement!! Should have been a Thomson FAMILY holiday, entertainment for all!!! I'm sorry but were was your so called ENTERTAINMENT???????
SON BOU as a whole not much there and really EXPENSIVE, £3.00 for a loaf of bread c'mon get a grip MENORCA!! Would never go MENORCA again, too dear, and nothing there to do!! Especially when the weather is bad!!!
If you do wanna go SON BOU go the million penguins hotel aka (Sol Milanos Pinguinos)
Spot on for entertainment, and a lovely place too! We had to go there for the entertainment, something to do every day and night, well recommened!!!

really nice holiday ,just got back home and wish we were there again. the apartments were kept nice and clean , maid service was good , 3 times a week.we were a bit disapointed there was no entertainment on site provide by the reps or anyone else for that matter. and were advised by thomson reps the nearest entertainment was in the two big hotels near the beach, which we visited a couple of times as are young children age 5 & 3 wanted a bit of a dance , the kids disco was good. eating out was a bit pricey in fact the whole resort was even the supermarkets, worth using the other supermarkets in resort center which were not as expensive as the one on complex. son bou itself is beautiful the beach is clean , uncrowded and unspoilt ,not a sunbed or pedalo in sight, much to my sons disgust, though we did visit the 1st week of the season so maybe june ,july ther might be more to offer. some lovely villas set on the hillside as a backdrop to the resort ( may explain why everythings so expensive) complex was set in lovely well kept gardens we were in zone 4 about 10 mins to the resort center. just to warn you of what looks like a duck pond or inlet of water on the beach (which i let my kids paddle in) is apparently a by product from the sewage works much to my horror as a local brit told me . There were no warning signs or fence around it. That would be the only negative about the beach but we did see local kids playing in it ! musnt affect you if your used to playin in human waste ! still you would never need go near it as the beach is so long and lovely. We only visited for a week but it was enough with no entertainment of a evening and the restaraunts being so pricey ( probably not the food, much the same as here think it was the drinks good job we only have a couple) we had thought we'd taken more than enough spends for a week so whatever you have in mind for spends double it or eat an drink in your appts (not what you want on hols) resort itself was small but plenty of restaraunts and nice little shops to look in ideal for young family's wanting a relaxing time. overall a really nice place

Great holiday spent with my family. Complex was excellent, clean, well kept and the people where very friendly, we had a 10 to 15 minute walk to the beach shops and restaurants.
There is a small train that can take you there although the walk is very pleasant.
Entertainment in the club was fantastic. Lovely long beach shallow waters for bathing.
Son Bou not commercialised although there is one ugly hotel.
Altogether a great family holiday kids enjoyed the pool and the apartments were big, balconies back and front lovely and clean, plenty of clean towels.
Just have to go and find out how fantastic it is for yourselves.

San Jaime apartments were ideal, everything a family could need. The pool was ultra cold but the kids didn't mind. Entertainment was cool and prices OK. Would recommend eating elsewhere however.
Our upstairs room had its fair share of ants a few lizards so be prepared. The cleaners came to make the beds and provide fresh towels every two days, cleaning the bathroom etc.
Because it is the end of the season Son Bou was really quiet but still enough bars and restaurants to offer enough choice for the week. The Hawaiian bar was a particular favourite.
Joseph's breakfasts were good and the best evening meal we had was at Boni's...gorgeous.
The beach is fab, lovely sand gently sloping into the sea so ideal for little swimmers and very shallow waters mean it is a bit safer.
Would definitely stay here again.

Son Bou is a really lovely place. Just had 2 weeks on the San Jaime complex really enjoyed it. A little bit noisy as we were facing a small road that goes around the complex but it was still lovely. The beach is amazing one of the best I have seen in Menorca. The pool was a little to busy for me as I don't have children but I would definitely recommend to families. The night-life tends to be 1 bar the Copa Cabana where there are acts on every night, such as the temptations who are brilliant, but if you want something quieter then the Irish bar will suit you more. There is only a handful of restaurants but the food is good. I will definitely be making a return journey!!

This was our second visit with Thomson, great all round holiday. Wife loves reading by the pool (hates the sand), I learnt to scuba dive and now PADI Open water, 3 boys (10,8,6) had masses to do. We met lovely couple from UK with 3 kids Aug 2005, came back together this year, planning another together July/Aug 2007 (booked privately). Basic accommodation, near Zone 3 ; great for kids entertainment, staff very friendly. Local restaurants cater for all diets, eldest son has dairy allergy, locals all accommodating in cooking something dairy free. Variety of food, not necessary to eat chips with everything, have good salads too- but hey you're on holiday.
New bowling alley good for kids, plenty of shops for all wallets. Beach excellent for building sand shapes. All sorts of sun-worshipers catered for!! Banaba boat ride great fun too. Used the slide pedaloes -reasonable prices. (There are ATM machines but watch the charges)
Evening entertainment tribute bands varying talent but a good laugh, Elvis with a Spanish twang! Freddie Mercury good. Need plenty of euros for the pool tables which attract the kids like magnets. The Maze good value if you go more than once as you get discount on previous ticket, varying themes for Maze games and prizes. Good super-maket on site. Recommend visit Waterpark at Cuitadella -great fun day out and cheap to eat there.
Going back July/Aug 2007 for more scuba diving, wife happy by the pool and kids are well looked after - a holiday resort for everyone.

I've just got back from my holiday which I thoroughly enjoyed! The atmosphere of the resort was great, a very friendly, family environment. The apartment was perfect, just what you need.
The entertainment was very very good, there was a pool situated just next to the restaurant. The bar staff were extremely friendly and i would recommend it to anyone!
The centre of Son Bou was filled with bars and restaurants, all of which looked great; there was plenty of choice. I may be going back there next year because i enjoyed it so much!

Excellent self catering units in very pretty environment. Reception area open 24 hours and very friendly efficient staff. Short walk to centre of Son Bou.
Apartments are in villa style accommodation and found them to be very spacious. Each one has grass area outside so very safe for children to play.
There is also a maze under separate management which was superb. Loved by the children and adults alike.

My family and I have just spent 7 days in Zone 3 of the San Jaime Complex. It is the first time my family have had a holiday abroad.
Son Bou is very special - the scenery, the restaurants, the bars, the beach, the sound of frogs (at night!). I thoroughly recommend Son Bou and San Jaime.
Cost wise - I would say prices are slightly cheaper than the UK (food and drink). Drink from Supermarkets is very cheap (65 cents for a 50cl can of San Miguel) if you fancy a drink back at your accommodation. Wine is good value too.
Children will love the resort - there is plenty to do. There's even an arcade in Son Bou that has 10-pin bowling, a bar, arcade games and a soft-play ball area.
We're going back very soon!

Son Bou is a fantastic resort with lots of fun and enjoyable things to do eg. The maze and the countless number of swimming pools me and my cousin Michelle really enjoyed our time here.
The reps were really helpful and supportive throughout our time there, the complex was amazing and really big a beautiful the weather in Son Bou was quite good apart from the golf balls one day lol.....the hail stone.
We really recommend this holiday to anybody who has children or want to have fun also there are two amazing water parks which make a really fun day out the best part of our experience was the maze this was the best on the night time especially as there’s lots of different games to play and things to do.
Also you get to meet lots of new friends there and there is plenty of night-time entertainment for the adults eg shows in hotels, apartments and pubs n clubs open till early hours, me and michelle had a really enjoyable holiday at son bou san jaime complex and hope to return soon
Gracias!!!

We stayed in Zone 5 (the furthest from the beach/centre) apartments are very spacious and were spotlessly clean (apart from the ants which we sorted with a spray from the shop in the first hour!) They dont have a microwave which would have been good but they do have fridge, oven, ironing board, iron, kettle, pots/pans and cutlery etc. We stayed in a downstairs apartment with a front patio and garden bit, lovely to sit on a night and eat/drink on the patio. Cant comment on the entertainment - not my thing, sounded like Spice Girls one night at Butlins! but quiet apart from that. Everyone in bed around midnight anyway which is good for kids. Theres a small amusements arcade on site and bar but in the centre of resort (5 min walk) then theres bowling, restaurants, 3 supermarkets, beach not far and bus stops allover for trips out to the rest of the island. We went to mahon - nothing there but streets, didnt find the harbour!! A few other people also said same. Dont book trips with the reps before looking locally, on one bus stop we saw a trip they tried to sell for twice the price and theres a boat trip on a board outside a cafe. All in all - lovely place, would suit kids from 5 plus better then babies or teens. We have a 5 yr old and 7mth old. Plenty of places to buy baby jar food and nappies but bit pricey, one place sells cow & gate and hipp but i wouldnt rely on it and I did take my own dried packets in my luggage with milk sachets. Eating out didnt cost too much - three of us ate with drinks for around 50 euros at Casa Andres and Boni's in the centre of son bou and had pizzas and chips etc at Arthurs on the front for 35 euros. We were definately sick of chips by the end of the week - but im veggie and theres not too many choices. All in all - would have been a great 10/10 holiday if it hadnt rained for 1st 3 days, but we did go in May!
