Fantastic
Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms very clean. Rooms cleaned every day and clean towels left. Food okay - there was always something we liked to eat - never went hungry. Hotel very clean as well. Plenty entertainment for children. Pool quite small but adequate.Would certainly recommend it for a holiday and we would return there again.
Good time had by all
I stayed with a friend at the Santa Susana hotel for a long weekend at the beginning of October. We weren't too sure what to expect of the hotel after reading some reviews but were pleasantly surprised to find a great hotel. Not too big, the hotel itself and the rooms were clean, the rooms made up every day, the food was ok - nothing amazing but nothing bad! The hotel is well situated, only a short walk to the beach and handy supermarkets nearby. Only a 30 minute transfer from the airport too. The pool was small but the roof terrace was great, it had it's own little bar and plenty of sun loungers. I would recommend making use of the other HTop hotels nearby, they're great for a change of scenery at lunch or dinner but if you want to use the 4* for eating, i'd try to book early as it was full when we asked. All in all we had a good time, staff were friendly, weather was good and hotel more than met our expectations :)
Excellent for a cheap last minute holiday
August 13, 2007 - South Shields Had read some awful reviews after booking our holiday and was really not looking forward to going away. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly reception staff. Room was basic, but clean and comfortable. We were dreading eating at restaurant, but were pleasantly surprised at the standard and selection of food available. My husband and I and two children thoroughly enjoyed every meal. Hotel was what you would expect for a three star. Entertainment for children could have been better. Spoke to the manager about the fact that some computers and games not working, he was helpful and got them fixed the next day. The pool was very small, so used the pool at the H.top Royal Sun. Overall a very enjoyable cheap holiday.
Would not recommend
I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone and cannot think of any positive thing about the hotel. The food was never warm regardless of what time you went to eat. The meat was often undercooked i.e. one day blood was coming out of the sausages and hence not hygenic. Snacks were served 3 times a day and was simply left over breakfast each time. The food was never covered over and so went stale etc.I expected the food to be a bit repetitive but it was so bad we ended up having to eat out. We were sold the hotel as family friendly. There are 3 bars/hotels nearby which have live entertainment on till midnight every night and so the hotel was very noisy. Not what I consider suitable when travelling with younger children. The towels & sheets were changed every day but the rooms were not cleaned to a good standard i.e the floors / kitchen area and again I was not happy with young children & a baby in there. A couple of staff members were pleasant whilst the remainder were sultry at best. We had reason to see the manager who was plain rude to us. I would definitely suggest anyone thinking of staying here looks at other hotels.
Great! Great! Great!
FANTASTIC! as a large family the hotel catered for us, staff very helpful, food very varied and plenty of it. our only quarm was the pool on the roof you had to get the lift to the 6th floor then walk another 2 flights of steps but it was a decent area as if you wanted to relax away from the pool you could as there was a seperate area just for soaking up the sun and relaxing having a drink from the bar.around the pool wasn't very big but clean as is the rest of the hotel.also you had the use of all the h-top hotels which was great when you went to the beach as the hotel royal sun was on the beach and you could use there facilities whilst there all in all its recomended by us. we will certainly be returning
fawlty towers revisited
the hotel royal sun hi top four star we found this hotel badly run some staff helpful others not interested if you want a quiet holiday not recommended
a base camp,no more than that
stayed here for a week a/i oct 11,hotel was clean, food was edible and plentiful, but the entertainment was minimal, normally a man playing cds(disco?) it is however, well placed for travelling about, only about an hour from barcelona by train.make use of the hotels free bus service to other hotels in the group. we didnt use the hotel much, apart from eating and sleeping, ideal for that, but youd be dissappointed if excpecting more
Had a great holiday
I went with my partner to the top H Santa Susanna Apart-hotel in September. We had a lovley holiday, very relaxing. The Hotel was really well positioned at the edge of santa susanna at the start of marglat, it was clean and although not 'fancy' it was plesent, the staff were friendly enough and spoke good english. The rooms were large and even though we were all inclusive they had a 2 ring cooker and fridge. Our room was on the south facing side of the hotel and had the sun all afternoon which was good. the restraunt was in the basement with very little natural light but it was well decorated and plesant, after a fortnight the food was getting a bit 'all the same' but really every day there was a pasta dish, fish, pork or veal and on occasion I would have said the dinner was really good. The pool was on the small side but if you are a sun worshiper then due to its location on the roof there was nothing to shade you from the sun (not so good if you got kids - the fencing arround the roof could be a bit higher in my opinion) The entertainment in the evenings was a bit sparce but due to it being part of the Top H group you could walk a few minutes to the Royal Sun hotel where there was entertainment in the evening and if you were all inclusive then your card worked there too. the hotel runs a bus daily between hotels in the group free of charge where you can use their facilities - we used this as a way to see other places and gave us options to eat in other places. All in all we had a good holiday with no complaints and for what we paid to say in a 3* and get to use all the facilities in the 4*'s was exceltent value for money.
worst hotel for food ever
Just arrived back from the santa sussana aparthotel and felt compelled to write a review. Hotel rooms were clean, maids in daily. Swimming pool very small, Kids club non-existant, Entertainment poor, Staff unfriendly and food totally apalling. Only good thing was as this is part of the h top chain you can use other hotels in the area. Santa Sussana is a nice enough town with mostly Spanish tourists from the surrounding cities of Barcelona and Gerona. Market is on Tuesdays and is reasonable enough. If going to Barcelona take the train from Santa Sussana to Barcelona then metro line 5 to Collblanc--10 mins then to the Nou Camp. If you haven t booked yet---dont !!!!!!
sunshine
Ihave just returned from costa brava..We stayed at the Apart-Hotel Santa Susanna on an all inclusive deal..First and foremost i must express how much the staff went out of there way to make you feel welcome they were all friendly all spoke english and nothing was too much trouble for them, you never even knew the cleaning staff were outside in the passage as they were so quiet,we had our room tidied every day and a towel change. The food was ok but itcould of been a bit more varied we got a bit sick of having the same things just dressed up in different sauces especially our evening meal..Having said that we had a lovely varied meal on the day we left we couldn,t fault it,and thefood was plentiful. There wasn,t a lot on in the entertainment section but they did put flamenco dancers on the night before we left and they were very enjoyable i think everyone turned out to see them it was a pleasant change from the disco every night which hardly anyone listened to,as we were too busy making our own entertainment at the other end of the bar. The beach is a 5-10min walk from the hotel. The hotels pool is on the roof of the hotel so your not pestered by passers by and there is also the bar at the pool.Ithink the only downside is that people should be made to take there towels with them when they leave the sunloungers leaving them free for anyone else to use as there isn,t many of them, we knew couples that had too much of the sun and went to the bar downstairs for a few hours and going back upstairs to the pool to use there loungers again where they had left there towels on.Idont think this was fair and the management could do with putting up a notice to this effect.so everyone can benefit from there use instead of the chosen few.The scenery in front of the hotel looks upon the mountains where you can take a train trip for 3.40 euro,s and it lasts an hour but take your camera as he stops for you to take some photo,s(this is something we didn,t do).having said that there is building work going on right outside the front door it looks like another hotel will be popping up and blocking the viewThere are also lots of excursions to be booked we went to marineland it is only 15mins away by bus if you got kids they will enjoy it as you see shows from the seals the parrots and the dolphins magnificent well worth going but be warned the first buses back are at 4-15 so if you have seen everything by 1-30 your stuck there so i would suggest going later at 11-15 then taking your time. All in all it was a good holidayi will certainly be going back. But bear in mind the season hasn,t fully started as i have written this so i reckon the entertainment and the food will get better..so give it a try....
