just returned after 5 days at the royal sun suites and all in all really enjoyed it!!
the 2 bedroom apartment we stayed in (room 316) was fantastic, one of the best and spacious apartments i have utilised.
the food was pretty good but like everywhere when you eat at the same place all the time you do tend to get a little fed up but there was always something to choose from.
i found the bartenders really friendly and one in particular was always performing magic tricks.
i can`t remember the name of the guy from the animation team but he was soooo lovely and funny, he was always making us laugh and even opened the kids club for us when the kids were bored even tho it was supposed to be closed!
the pool itself was pretty small with maybe about 35 sunbeds around it but there was an additional terrace with sunbeds on if you prefer to be away from the noise around the pool.

When we first the food was nice for the 1st few days .Then we where offered stake and kidney pie what a laugh where the stake was is anyone guess after that the food was up and down. it was better to eat a full meal at lunch time and eat out later the rooms where there best feature wuth a very good cleaning service. The card exchange for your glass was terrible and caused lots of waiting the bar staff varied there was one young lady who was not helpfull and very rude as for the snax through out the day was dry bread with eithere ham or cheese slices and a slice of tomato maybe a bit of letties this was day in and day out The icecream for the children apart from meal times was icepops.this was our 1st time all inclusive and its put me of ever doing it again

the rooms are clean and spacious, bar area ok, tv/lounge area ok.the resturant, which yes in down stairs is very clean, music playing, the food is average but ediable. we stayed as a family with a 12 year old, all inclusive as it only cost us £50 extra to do so. breaskfast is the usual, eggs, beans, bacon, saus, bread rolls, toast, salad, yogurt & cereal. lunch always chips, potatoes, veg, salad, fish meat chicken or pork and a veggie option. evening meal was pretty much the same, still ediable. roof top terrace was great ok the pool is small there is a bar which is open 11-1 and 3-5pm they have radio station playing english 70's,80's &90's music. yes you do have a card to get your drinks with but this same on having all the waste drink and lots of glasses in the bar adn pool area.
rooms 101-106 are postioned along the side sreet where the coaches stop to pick up for water world, marineland and other days out also the noise from the pubs across the road seems to travel to theses rooms.
it's great at night when the market/craft stalls are set up along the main road, market day is tuesday/saturday.
to sum up we only paid £299 for 3 to stay all inclusive mon - fri in august, so i think it was great & would go again. if you expect more you need to book in a 4 star hotel and be prepared to pay a lot lot more!

HTop more like HBlock. First time I have been all inclusive and also went to Costa Brava. The apartment itself was very good and spacious and well cleaned and maintained. The all inclusive service was a rip off. Snacks provided during the day were soggy sandwiches and cakes that representatives flaky biscuits. To get a drink you are provided with a card/ticket on arrival. You must hand this over for a drink and then the glass back each time you want a drink and then you get the ticket back when you've finished drinks for the day. If you lose your card or don't give a glass back you have to pay 2euro's. You can only get 3 drinks per round per person and in a party of 6 we couldn't order 1 round and had to keep going back and forward as the plastic tumblers didn't hold much. You can use sister hotels, oh yes you can and there is a lovely one at the beach but don't be expecting to get any snacks (unedible as they are) when you are there all day, you can only have drinks and have lunch at the other hotels on 1 occassion!! The food in the restaurant consists of pork, pork and well more or less more pork!! Some of the staff were friendly but not all, the World Cup was won when we where there and they couldn't close the bar quick enough at the end of the night, you would have thought there would have been a bit of a celebration. If you are staying in this hotel do not pay for all inclusive because you can go to the restaurant and eat anytime as no-one checks you in as you arrive and it is not really worth paying the money for the sloppy food. The entertainment was pure crap to be frank, dodgy singers and dancers. No party atmosphere to get you in the mood to stay around. Too many rules and regulations to abide by, when you go on holiday you expect to relax and just get food and drink when you want. You can't get a drink until the bar opens at 10.00am and the all inclusive service ends at 12.00pm but the bar stays open to 1.00am, well the staff start clearing up around 12.15, then they lock the doors about 12.30 and sit and smoke refusing to serve anymore drink. I definitely won't return to an HTop hotel or Costa Brava as this experience has put me off for life!! Good luck to anyone going there, bring your own food and don't stay around the hotel if you can avoid it.

I was expecting bad things of this hotel, the rooms were big and cleaned every day.
The staff were very good pilau on the desk a1 service, bar staff were pleasant and also the dining room staff,if you treat them how you would like to be treated yourself you wont go far wrong, please and thank you goes a long way.
The entertainment was sparse and also things for the kids to do so if you are looking for a quiet holiday this is the hotel for you as a holiday is how you make it.
You cant hear any noise from the other rooms, the entertainment from the other hotels is loud but stops at 12 o'clock,it was nice sitting on the balcony listen to it with a cold drink.
The food was great you will never go hungry we went to the royal sun in lloret for the day it was a 4 star hotel but i Rather the food in our hotel and the quieter atmosphere as this hotel was very busy and full of lager louts.
When i can i will be booking this hotel for next year a word of warning if you have booked you transfers with another company phone them up before you leave as they don't tell the hotel what time they pick you up and also they were a hour late picking us up to take us to the airport.
Also don't bother with the beach, you get pestered by sun glasses sellers, massage, watches not the place to relax we stayed on the rooftop pool which was great if you just want to cool off and there were always sunbeds available.
This hotel has changed it name to sun suites

Having spent lots of hols in Spain over 10 years,Benidorm Costa del Sol etc, I had never been to Costa Brava--boy do I regret that desision!
This hotel has rooms smaller than any other hotel I have been in. Our three sons were in the same size room we had but were charged full price. The food is oriented towards German and Spainish visitors. Desert was the same all the time and the fruit was all melon and little apples and pears which looked like they fell out of trees! One of the toasters was constantly broken and the drink was given out in third measures and only one per card. Entertainment was a farce-or would be if it was funny. The usual man and woman on the electric organ and the punters doing the entertainment! The world cup matches were all on Spainish language and we had to go about a mile to find an English pub to watch them. I am writting this half way through our holiday and cant wait to get home. I even offered my wife to cut it short and I would take a savage loss on the holiday, but because we paid up front (as you do) she has decided to stay.
My conclusion-go somewhere else!!

we went to this hotel as a family of 5, myself my husband and a16year old, 14 year old and 12 year old. Firat i will start with the positives the rooms were very big and comfortable, the bar staff were very friendly and the maids did a good job. Now the negatives the entertainment for our 2 week all inclusive stay was practically none other than a disco, the food was very basic and the staff in the resteraunt were miserable and rude. I wouldnt reccommend staying here if you value your sleep, we had 1 peacfull night in 14, all you can here is shouting music and screaming from the local clubs and pubs even with the windows closed. The pool was ok for the kids but the bar was shut up there so if you wanted a drink you had to get dressed as you had to be dressed to get served at the bar, then you had to walk down 2 flights of stairs get in the lift travel down six floors get your drink and then do it all again in reverse.
The snacks were a joke a half sandwich with no butter just a piece of ham or cheese and a bit of salad, you had to ask for these behind the bar at certain times, no icecreams for kids as advertized. All in all we made the holiday fun for ouselves as we had to make the best of a bad job. Oh and a word of warning if you go down the beach be prepared to be bugged the whole time your there by bag sellers, watch sellers, sunglass sellers and people offering massages.

been to this hotel 3 times, twice on a family package, once on a boys weekend trip, going again may the 8th with the boys,
good points location fantastic, rooms excellent clean, most have a fridge nothing better than sitting on the balcony after the bar has shut with a nice cold drink,
food - yes basic but edible
drinks - estella dram is the same wherever you drink it, shorts cocktails plentiful, hardly any queue at the bar (unlike other h top hotels its 20 deep at the bar),
the bar staff - treat them as you would like to be treated a thank you does not hurt, imagine serving constant ungrateful brit's 10 - 12, juan, emillio, john top class
pool is small beach is 5 minutes away, so is the royal sun, calella h top £2 on the train or via the h top bus

Well where do I start? After a mess up with the coaches thanks from Sun4UDirect that didnt book us on (and gave us the wrong time on the way back) I looked forward to a nice cold beer at the hotel. Upon arrival it wasnt to much too look at from the out but was nice on the in, with a large reception and decent size bar, I could hear my beer calling. The beer however was undrinkable, although poured from the Estrella tap it must have been 30% water. Next was a red wine which tasted strangely vinegary and the juice wasnt much better. If you fancied some Sangria well you have to pay for that! Not a good start!
The rooms were bigger than expected although you do get what you pay for. Clean and maids everyday definately got the thumbs up. There is a small pool on the roof which is good for the kids but can imagine that the few sunbeds will go quick in high season. If your drinking mind to bring up a few if your not going in the summer as the bar there is not open.
Before heading downstairs to the restaurant you are met with the smell of Spanish drains which gave me the boke before I even sat down (this is everytime without fail). The food is very poor; minimum selection, barely warm and really inedible. Take it from someone that can nearly eat anything, I spent one night eating chip butties.
TIP : There is a 4 star HTOP Royal Sun hotel which you can use down the bottom of the road. If your looking for a drink the beer here is good as with the rest of the liquid refreshments, although you will only be able to drink till 7pm if your from another hotel. You cant have diner or breakfast though you can book from your own hotel for lunch which I highly reccommend. The difference is far superior (they even use better butter!). Having ate out most the time, if you walk down to Malgrat there is a restaurant called Di Angelo's which is about the price of anywhere else in town, it has cracking food and great friendly staff.
All in all the actual hotel itself is not bad and is the old cliché, you get what you pay for, however the food and drink is abismal and far below par. As I only read these reviews after I booked I know it can be worrying going abroad to somewhere that has had such bad reviews. If you have booked up already jus eat and drink elsewhere, if you havent it is definetely considering upgrading to the 4* HTOP Royal Sun hotel 5 mins away.
Hope the tips help you make the most of your holz anyways, all the best and good luck ;)

we have just returned today from royal sun suites, rooms very spacious and even had itv channel. food was good on most days. only had 2 bad days for food. went to royal sun for lunch. we tried to book again for eve meal and was told you can only go for a meal there once in your stay, we also tried to get a drink from royal sun after 7pm, and was told we could only use all inc upto 7pm. These things we didnt know. i was under the impression you could go into any htop hotel and have a drink, this was not the case. W was also not informed that pool bar would close half way through our holiday. bare in mind pool is on the roof .and was also not informed that the free bus would stop running half way through aswell.other than folks we enjoyed it .Its a chillin holday, if you are after lots of bars and nightlife then go to benidorm. Santa susanna is very low key, ther is one or two english bars. we would go back again to these apts the standard of cleanliness is top. clean sheets and towels every day. hope you find this useful.x
