St Florian Hotel
This modern hotel is spacious and clean with a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. It is well positioned in a secluded area with fine views overlooking the slopes. The resort centre is just 100m from the hotel.

The St Florian is in a really nice quiet location and fairly near the centre of town.
It has a lovely bar area with a fireplace - however the fire was never lit and the bar was never open - which is a shame as this part of the hotel would have been a great gathering point within which to meet the other residents in the hotel and swap skiing tales.
As it was, we only ever saw any other residents during breakfast - in fact, breakfast was the ONLY time we ever saw anyone else in the hotel - there were no staff around at all during the day and reception (other than when we arrived) was closed/unmanned during our stay as was the bar.
Our room was very nice with lovely views of the mountains and a terrace and was kept very clean and tidy by the cleaning staff.
A big gripe however, was the fact that the control valve on the radiator in our room was broken, which meant that we could not regulate or turn off the heating (which was on 24/7).
So we had to leave the windows in the room open all day and night for the whole holiday, in order to regulate the heat somewhat - even with open windows, the heat was often uncomfortable leading to much disturbed sleep.
We asked the very friendly breakfast staff (the only staff that were around) to see if it could be fixed and my friend asked if the extractor fan in her bathroom could be fixed, but predictably, nothing was done.
All in all we had a great holiday, but the St Florien seems to be drifting along without anyone at the helm - a bit Marie Celest -ish!
With a little personal attention, this hotel could be a great spot.

The St Florian is a lovely, homely hotel with wonderful staff. As a family of five we had to have two rooms but these were next to each other and the one the children were in was more of a suite with a separate bedroom area for my teenage daughter (much appreciated). The children’s suite also had an enormous bath, more like a Jacuzzi, which caused much hilarity.
The food was very good, although the Austrian custom of clear soup with various dumplings, pancakes etc floating in it caused some consternation. Particularly good was the Italian themed dinner, great Tiramisu. The service at dinner was very good and the lovely waiter always gave the children extra chocolates when we had coffee.
The location of the hotel was good as it was only a couple of minutes walk to the ski-bus stop in the mornings. The buses were rather a scramble though and if we visit Kaprun again we have decided to hire a car as there is a large car park at the bottom of the cable cars.
The rest of Kaprun is easily accessible from the St Florian including a lovely bar where you can sit outside with an ice-cream or drink only 30 seconds away, shops and an indoor public pool.
All in all the St Florian is a great base for skiing, very comfortable, lovely staff and good location.
