Very disappointed. While many of the staff are helpful and friendly we found the reception staff to be indifferent. My wife suffers from Osteo Porosis and is unable to move veru quickly. She was alarmed the first time the water temperature in the shower went from warm to... more

no way can this hotel be considered 4* we were on 6th floor facing the road, and very noisy, even though other reviews say sound proof? our room was tired looking and was in need of a makeover. We booked for 3 people, but it looked as if an extra bed was put in a 2 bed... more

My boyfriend and I stayed at Fenals garden for 10 nights from 21st to 31st of July 2005. For a 4* hotel we had high expectations despite the reviews we had read before going. Would say to people thinking of staying in this hotel to go self catering, as we went half board... more

This hotel is rated as a 4* Hotel, I would give it 3* for bed and breakfast only and 2* for half board. On a busy road, 10 minute walk to beach. Breakfast buffet OK, although rolls and croissants cold and not fresh. Dinner very poor selection and uneatable. Salads... more

Great value late break
The staff at this hotel are probaly the most pleasant and accommodating that we have ever come accross. It was a very "low budget" holiday and we did not expect the standards we were met with. The rooms and public areas were kept spotlessly clean. We had fresh towels daily and 2 linen changes in the week. We were half board and went with the idea that for what we had paid we would eat out if the food was not up to much - we didn't have to. Yes it did get a bit boring but we always managed to find something to suit. Perhaps over a 2 week stay I would have thought differently. For a 4 star hotel the bar prices were very reasonable - 1.40 euros a small beer, 6 euros for an ok (not "quality" but ok) bottle of wine. The sunbeds round the pool could do with an update. We didn't expect to use them at this time of the year but the lovely sunshine was another unexpected bonus. We requested a pool view room and got one. Our friends were on the front of the hotel and did find the traffic noise at bit too much at times. Overall a great value late break.
Excellent review of holtel and location
We have just returned from a fantastic holiday in Lloret de Mar, Costa Brava, Spain. We found Lloret de Mar a good holiday location for the average tourist, with a beach, main shopping area and plenty of nightlife. We would definitely recommend Water World as a day out for any age group with plenty of slides, pools and relaxing areas. We would recommend arriving early, however some of the rides do not open until a little later. We travelled via a dedicated free bus and were lucky enough to find the bus stop across the road from our hotel. Another great day out included a trip to Barcelona only an hours coach trip away from Lloret’s central bus station, however we advise getting coach tickets as early as possible due to queues. Whilst at Barcelona we managed to see all the sights by using the city’s tourist bus that allowed you 1 or 2 day access and could hop on/off at each tourist attraction, but expect queues. We stayed at the lovely Fenal Gardens Hotel just 10mins from the centre of Lloret and 5mins from the nearest beach. Room was cleaned on daily basis to an excellent standard with fresh towels and clean sheets. The room was a decent size with twin double beds, a fair-sized balcony, TV, wardrobe, hairdryer and all other essential amenities (which include a safe at a small cost). We stayed Half Board and found the food to a good standard with a variety of hot and cold meals to suit the fussiest of eaters. On a late arrival to the hotel on our the 1st night we even had a cold plate provided which was totally unexpected, but very much appreciated after a long journey. The pool was clean and sun lounges a plenty with some umbrellas and small tables near poolside. The only evening entertainment we saw in the hotel bar was three professional flamenco dancers who put on a good performance that was well worth a watch. We had no complaints about the hotel or the staff who were very friendly and professional. Would recommend the hotel and would definitely stay there again.
A friendly hotel
We have just returned from five days staying at the Fenals Garden Hotel, Lloret and would thoroughly recommend staying there. Having read some reviews (after I had booked the hotel!) I was a little anxious but need not have been. We had half board and there was plenty of choice of food for breakfast (either a cooked breakfast or cereals, yohurt, fruit, cold meat or all of it, if you could manage it!) and in the evening we had a similar good choice of soup, hot food or salad and puddings and fruit. The hotel is situated outside of the main town of Lloret but it is only a short walk into the town centre and the bus station. There are frequent buses from there to other resorts, the airport and Barcelona. The beach is also only a five minute walk away and there are boat trips and water sports available from there. The large water park is nearby and there are free buses to it. A large supermarket is across the road and there are several restaurants and cafes close by. I thoroughly recommend the Hungry Horse, just up the road, for a good choice of menu and several vegetarian options. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean, comfortable and cleaned daily. All in all an excellent hotel.
Not a 4* by any stretch of the imagination
This is a 3* hotel at best, posing as 4*. Although clean the room was the most stark I have ever stayed in abroad. Three single (hard) beds, one bedside cabinet one dressing table with a useless TV sat on it. The balcony was a good size although make sure you insist on being at the back of the Hotel. At midnight every night you hear crowds of idiots chanting to and from Lloret which is repeated at 4am/5am on their return. Coupled with the road noise this was the noisiest hotel I have ever been to. The TV showed Spanish and German channels and CNN only, which was mainly interference. The food was pallatable to be honest and varied although I bet if you stay for 2 weeks you'd get the same menu. The staff were courteous and helpful and were English speaking. The pool area was boring, bland no gardens to speak of, and the beds were rusted and uncomfortable. Although I have given this Hotel a bad review, I enjoyed the holiday and looking at the quality of other Hotels around, this did look better than its competitors.
Worth a read
Just returned from a 5 day break to this hotel which visited with my wife as part of a special anniversary gift to us both.. We were looking for something classy but overall considered that "classy" and Fenals Garden don`t sit well in the same sentence. Our overall impression of O.K would best summarise this hotel and will expand on reasons for our review but our review is based on this being a 4 star rated hotel. As stated in other reviews the hotel is located on a busy roundabout on a main road. However, the sound insulation in the rooms was very good and noise at nightime was basically unheard. In fact we quite liked the location as we were close to lots of small Spanish Cafe/Bars and also English/Scottish bars. Nearby was the beach area-5-10 minutes walk away which was set in a lovely bay and a nice promenade cafe. The hotel left itself down badly though in several areas although there was an illusion of 4* style in the smart uniforms of staff and the staff while we there were always courteous and helpful. The reception area was probably the nicest part of the hotel and dining area/bar quite pleasant but it was badly marred by the pool area which I would describe as shabby. The sun loungers were the old metal framed type part rusted and without cushions, the garden area without any flowers/plants or any colour and bits unweeded. The place was drab and not very pleasant to sit in at all apart from a few wicker tables/chairs. An overpowering feeling of greyness about the place and I would liken it to a 30 yrs old Spanish Hotel We were in a triple room which was equally dated with old dull furniture and Satellite T.V which only showed some Spanish Channels. The balcony in our room was very small and our view was of the pool area and not pretty as you may gather. The bathroom was pretty horrendous and also small with the door hitting the bidet. The shower was particularly annoying as the shower headfixings were mobile which meant when the shower was turned on the water hit the back wall or the bath. The shower could not be used in a normal manner an left 2 options. 1.Take the shower and head off the mount and sit /kneel in the bath and use the shower head manually while you shower. 2.Stand and use one hand to hold the shower cable in place permanently to let the water flow over you while at the same time with the same hand trying to pour shower gel into your other hand to apply to yourself. Very tricky and understand all rooms were similar and really needs replaced with modern fitments. Basically, the room became only a place to sleep in,get up early and get out of,return for a quick shower, dress and go for dinner. Talking of dinner brings us onto food which I would describe as no more than O.K. You could never actually say you enjoyed a meal but there was on nearly every night one hot meat item suitable for the British Palate. Hot Breakfast for most Brits would consist of the Streaky Spanish Bacon,Fried Eggs with any sausages offered up either a hotdog or a tasteless sausage. The toast machine took at least 2 or 3 chances before producing proper toast. The entertainment at the Hotel was virtually non existent with only entertainment on one night and nothing during the day at the poolside for children or adults. The disabled facilities seemed sadly lacking with the only item I saw a ramp at the front entrance. There were no toilets at poolside/reception level but the toilets were located down a flight of stairs towards the basement. Disabled access to toilets? Anyway hope this gives people a flavour of the hotel.
Great value for money
The Fenals Garden Hotel is a great 4 star hotel. We stayed for 10 days on a half-board basis at next to nothing. The hotel takes pribe in it cleanliness and the staff are very friendly. It's location is ideal, 10 mins walk to the Fenals Beach (small beach), 20 mins to the main Lloret Beach, 30mins walk to the Bus station. The food on the other hand was less desirable......Breakfast was good, bacon & eggs (2/3 variety) with conitnental also on offer. Dinner was the overall let down. They certainly catered for people who likes to eat chips, however the starter/salads was a good selection. Also, drinks are not complimentary during dinner and that includes water! So be prepared to spend a bit of money during your meal. A couple of very nice bars worth having a drink in. 1) on Fenals beach - at the end of he promonade (right side). 2) Little quiet Wine bar - towards Lloret . Costa Brava is a great family holiday. It is certainly the cheapest areas I have been to, which also means the type of visitors were a reflection of this. Places to visit: Girona City, Clodite De Jardin (Fenals), Tossa De Mar, Barcelona.
Great Location
After a 2 hour delay in Edinburgh we felt sure we would have to make our own arrangements for a snack arriving into the hotel arroung 10.45. How wrong we were! We were given all the usual info and told to drop our cases into the room and come back down as the Chef had left us a cold snack. We were presented with out reserved table complete with two large plates of salad with various cheeses and cold meats, two plates with chicken pork & sausages, desert was two plates of gateau and fresh fruits. Before we booked this hotel we checked out Holidays Uncovered there were quite a few reviews complaining about the standard of food. We found that if you are looking for 'Good British Food' i.e. burgers & chips this is not the place to be. If, on the other hand you want amazingly fresh, well prepared, perfectly cooked food Fenals Gardens will suit. There was a rather unusual soup consisting of a chicken stock base with chickpeas and large chunks of cabbage. They had dropped eggs into it to give a poached effect. It looked awful! but working on my 'If you don't try it you won't know' principle tried some and apart from a lack of salt it was delicious! The Hotel is located on an extremely busy roundabout but the double glazing and excellent aircon stop that from being a problem. You have a 15 minute walk to Fenals beach, and perhaps 25mins walk into the main Lloret De Mar beach but there are lots of sunbeds and plenty of room around the pool if you don't fancy the trek. There are lots of bars and resturants in the immediate area but they are pretty low key but friendly non the less. If you want to dance until dawn you need to make your way into the main part of the resort but I would still recommend accomodation in the Fenals area as you will want to sleep sometime... Reports on other sites complained the staff were off-hand, I found this to be well off the mark. I have a very limited amount of conversational Spanish but if you try, even if it's just the usual 'please-thank you-I would like' they are only too happy to have a laugh with you and help. If nothing else, a smile goes a long way, the Spanish people respond well, as we all do, to respect and courtesy. You can hire a fridge and safe deposit box in your room, it cost us about 70 euros for 10 days so it is lot but we felt both were necessary. There is a Large Caprabo supermarket at the other side of the roundabout to help you stock up on refreshments! One small point though, you don't have glasses in the room, there are clear plastic ones supplied but you can buy a couple in the shop with your booze.
Great Hotel.....
Me and my boyfriend have just returned back from a 3 night stay at the Fenals Garden Hotel. Its a great hotel for those who want to be away from the main Lloret town centre but close enough to walk there. (about 10 mins walk to centre). Our room overlooked the (good sized) pool on the 4th floor. Everything was spotlessly clean & food was great. wide choice. polite & friendly staff. Hotel bar was also good. The prices were reasonable (not what you expent from a hotel bar!) In the area are plenty of restaurants and bars and the hotel is only a few minutes walk from Fenals beach (which is a lot less crowded than Lloret). Overall, great value for money. Would definately stay again! ...........Book with Fleetway Travel for excellent prices
Lovely hotel, terrible food
We booked our holiday at the Fenals Garden on a half board basis and the only good thing I can say is that at least we weren't full board!! The food is awful. We ate there once during the evening and then vowed never to return. Breakfasts seemed to be ok until we discovered a fly baked into a slice of bread and then proceeded to eat all our meals outside the hotel. Fortunately, the fact that we got this holiday really cheap as it was the tail end of the season meant we weren't overly bothered but if we had paid a bit more for the holiday I would have been very annoyed!! However, the room was really nice, the hotel was clean, it was in a really good location so I can't complain too much!! The rooms are cleaned every day but be warned that the maids start early and on two separate occasions we were woken up at around 8 by the maids wanting to clean the room. The hotel is on the corner of a very busy road but the sound proofing of the baclony doors is excelent and you shouldn't be overly bothered by the sound of traffic. Unfortunately, the walls connecting the rooms aren't so soundproof and while this wasn't an issue for most of our stay with the majority of guests being older on our last night a family with what sounded like a herd of kids moved in next door to us and the noise was unbearable. The hotel is about 10 minutes away from Lloret proper but that suited us as this meant we were away from the crowds. All in all, we had no major problems with this hotel and would go back but would definitley not eat the food!
a great 4* hotel
we recently visited hotel fenals garden on a last minute short break rooms were spotless cleaned every day and towels changed daily although on a busy roundabout the hotel is soundproofed. all public areas were spotless, cleaning was still going on at 20.00. the restaurant was immaculate, a very good slection of food both at breakfast and dinner. all in all a very good 4* hotel. will definitely return there.
