no way can this hotel be considered 4* we were on 6th floor facing the road, and very noisy, even though other reviews say sound proof? our room was tired looking and was in need of a makeover. We booked for 3 people, but it looked as if an extra bed was put in a 2 bed room, making it quite cramped. Food was just o.k We used for breakfast, but after getting tired of the same food every day, went out the last 2 nights for evening meal. We found some of the staff quite autocratic in the restaraunt, and reception, our 13 year old boy took a drink in, (plastic bottle of water) and it was removed from him by a waiter without our say so, and we were stopped from playing football on the grass behind the pool. (It felt like we were breaking the rules on a school trip) Good points are the buses stopped right outside the hotel for airport transfer and trips, the rooms were cleaned well every day. I have stayed in nicer 4* hotels, and cannot recommend this one, classing as 3* at best. The resort is nice though, and would consider going back

I stayed at this hotel for a week, with my partner and my 13 month old daughter.
we were warmly welcomed by members of staff and showned to our room, the hotel looked and smelt really clean.
our room was small but perfectly formed with a double bed but not really big enough for the cot that was requested when booked. when cot in room we could not move. the bathroom was the size of a cupboard only enough for one person.
the balcony made up for the size of the room that was nice over looking the pool area.
i asked for my sheets to be changed but i still had the same ones.the room was on the inner part of the hotel but it was very noisy being next to a main road.
we paid and booked for half board but the food was terrible we only ate for two days, as we found flys in the bread and hairs in the ceral bowls. the hotel only really catered for the spanish and the french. there was no childrens food at all. my daughter lived on chicken nuggets and chips those two days.
you were not allowed to take bottled water into the restaurant as you had it taken off you. then charged a silly amount for a bottle of water.
we complained but they didnt really want to know all they could tll us was that all the food was brought in and not cooked by them.
we could not choose where we sat as there was not enough in there for the hight chairs supplied. not very child friendly the high chairs did not have any form of restraint.
the pool was a decent size and plenty of sun beds but enough sun shade to go around.
there was a nice sized grass area to go around.
at the end of the holiday they gave us a jug of sangrea to compensate and an applogy.

My husband and I have just returned form a week at the Fenals Garden Hotel from
1st Sept to 8th, on arrival we were worried about its location, by a busy main road and roundabout.
On entering the hotel we were greeted by friendly staff who allocated us a room on the second floor. We went to one of the lifts, of which there are two that carry up to 4 people each and on to our room. The room was spacious clean and tidy, we settled in and went on to the large balcony to assess the area and the view. There was a lot of traffic on the main road as it was 6pm, and the roundabout was very busy, but at no time during our stay did the noise from the traffic give us a problem. Our room was cleaned every morning around 10am, with our maid changing sheets, pillowcases, bath and hand towels and topping up soaps and shampoo as necessary.
The food in the hotel was acceptable; bearing in mind that this area appears to cater for mainly the French and Spanish pallet, breakfast consisted of three types of serials. A hot counter of bacon, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, sausage and tomatoes. There was a salad bar with cheeses and cold meats etc there was always fruit available and not forgetting the toaster that had a mind and a speed of its own?
Evening meals were again acceptable with a wide choice available, fish, a stew, curry, meat balls, Bolognese, Pasta, rice, chicken, pork, and beef, there was also chips, nuggets, dessert were always a choice of 4 to 5 fruits, Youghurt, ice cream, jelly etc so plenty of choice.
The pool area was very clean with plenty of sun beds, sun-shades, tables and chairs and a grass area to choose from. The only down side was that they allowed drinks in GLASSES to be taken out to the pool there, not very child friendly. Most 4* hotels only allow plastic within this area?
The area of Fenals was very clean and tidy there were plenty of gift shops, but there was very little choice within them, with only a few exceptions when you had looked in one shop the rest were the same. There were plenty of places to get hot or cold food at any time of the day. The only problem we incurred was at a place called Paula’s bar we sat down and waited to be served after 5 minutes someone came cleaned the table and said they would return, another 10 minutes still no-one, so we moved on to a great place on the same side of the road as the hotel that had crazy golf. The food was excellent, the service first class and the staff took the time to chat and have a laugh with you.
One thing that we noticed within the area was how many re-cycling bins there were and the people of all ages that used them, from the very young to “and I will be polite” the other end of the scale, even on the beach the different colour bins were available.
The beach was easily accessible with a short ten minute stroll, there was plenty to do and see from boat trips that started right on the shore to Para-gliding and banana boat for the young and fit, to doing absolutely nothing but soaking up that wonderful sun! One extremely good point on the beach was the service for the disabled, which comprised of two or three trained life-guards who would lift the person from their wheel-chair into a totally floatable chair that would then be wheeled down the beach and into the sea. The person would stay in the water for as long as they wished, with a life-guard at there side.
Again only one point of concern was the access to the sea, the drop from the beach into the water was extremely steep, you could go from ankle deep to 2 meters deep within three meters of the shore and as we witnessed ourselves even adults could have their legs taken from under them by the out going waves, again children need to be carefully supervised at the waters edge.
A good hotel with good food worthy of a 4 Star rating. Clean and tidy area, good beach, plenty of things to see and do. Great weather, in the mid to high 20s to a wonderful 30C on the last Friday. We had a wonderful time and we would definitely go back and recommend to our friends.

Myself and partner, and two 13 yr old daughter and friend, stayed at the Fenals garden hotel, 4 * from 22nd august 2007 for 10 nights!
I’ll be honest, after reading some holiday reviews on the place etc, I didn’t want to go, but anyway, we arrived.
After long (40 mins) taxi ride from Girona airport, we got to Lloret da mar. Hotel looked good compared to some we passed, and on entering and going in to the room, which had pool view and was on the first floor, we were pleasantly surprised.
Two double beds, bathroom and very large balcony area, we went outside to look at pool. Very clean and then I looked at the sunbeds, which I had read were old and rusty, bull ,I thought, not at all. Lovely garden area with swings etc, for younger kids at the side, and overall very nice. This hotel was situated on the corner of a roundabout, on busy road, but was sound proofed.
We left the unpacking, and went to look at the shops and to find somewhere to eat, as it was lunch time by now. We found a lovely open air restaurant, in between the shops, with red tables and checked cloths, showing good English menu. The kids had cheeseburgers and chips and we had escalope and chips. I must remember that abroad they don’t always burn the meat like I tend to at home! But it was cooked and lovely.
Next the shops, had a large choice of holiday stuff to buy, and we had large supermarket opposite hotel, where we bought water, to use our kettle in the room, which we took, to make cuppa! The hotel was really clean, staff were really friendly and helpful, and-spoke good English!
We had the maids come in every day, mostly after breakfast, bout 9_10 ish, which was great for us. Fresh towels every day, had basket of shower gel etc in bath room too. Now the hotel food-we had read about this and I was bit wary, but didn’t have to worry-yes after 7 days food was repetitive, but we usually go to the canaries and it’s the same there, mostly everywhere I think, but it was good.
Breakfast was choice of bacon, sausage egg either fried or scrambled looked like omelette, beans, whole tomatoes, and some lovely potatoes twists, also toast, which there one toaster was sometimes on go slow, but we waited like everyone else, also fresh fruit, croissants rolls etc, and orange juice, tutti frutti which kids loved and machine tea and coffee which was like having cappuccino over here, lovely.
Dinner choice of chips, some roast potatoes or scallops to us, beef in like stew, fish which kids tried and liked their veg, some night Bolognese with two lots pasta, very tasty, it varied, and even my daughter, was full and she is fussy eater, salad bar always full, choice of rice dishes some times.
On the whole good food, little choice in the puddings choice, and we had to pay for the drinks as were half board, but not expensive. Eating out. We found a lovely English bar/restaurant, on the way down to the beach run, called Paula’s, this was on the opposite side to our hotel, further down, we had pie, chips and beans and gravy for 6.50 Euros, bout £4.25 our money, and kids had large plate with chicken burger, chips and salad for 6.95 Euros and were lovely meals.
Also look out for the robin hood pub which is on the same side close to Paula’s, which was English and we watched few matches (footie) in there. Plus look for quik save supermarket, also nearby, as its run by English couple and is so nice to be greeted warmly, than have a stern unfriendly Spanish lady serve you in the big super market.
The beach now we weren’t in the heart of Lloret, as my partner and I walked into it, one day, took us 20 mins, and there you have other shops, more of, and burger king and McDonalds, but beware, my partner went down one morning to get kids something, as they had lie in and missed breaky at hotel, and for 2 chicken burgers and chips and two cheese burgers was-bout 13 Euros, nearly £9 in our money. Well expensive, so try to avoid unless you got gold credit card. Ha-ha.
That beach was shingle too, but not as nice as the one near our hotel. Our beach this was a short walk down past the shops and Paula’s, and was lovely, at both ends there were rocks and the beach was like a half moon shape. If you went to the right, you came to some exercise equipment, cleverly done in big metal form. Like children’s play area, but was good like our gym stuff over here, ideal if you got bored on the beach.
Carry on walking past ice cream sellers, have a pine apple calippo, very juicy and will quench your thirst. Carry on until you come to the end of this side of the beach nr some rocks. There is a lovely wooden type eating out bar/restaurant. It has two floors to it, and if you come back down at night, you can sit and watch the sea coming in, and by the bright moon light, it’s an awesome picture. They have all candles on the tables and is really romantic, ideal place for a proposal, if you had the perfect romantic partner with you, but I won’t go there!
We had cocktails and the kids had alcohol free ones for about 7 Euros each-ok bout £5,but we got plastic flower in each one ,which was scented, and I kept them, and we went 3 times ,so I now have a mini bouquet on my window sill, and they smell divine! Other end if you back track and walk all the way to the other side of the beach, it’s nice as there are lots of rock pools.
Oh I nearly forgot, boat trip. You can get on a boat, on the beach, yes it pulls right up on the beach front, to let passengers on and off and have tour of the bay, you book it at a wooden hut on this side, I can’t tell you a price as we wanted to, but never got, but it looked wicked fun, for us oldies. Kids said it would be crap, but what do they know! Its only cause they would be scared off not looking cool.
So that’s about it, you can hire sun bed on beach for 4.50 euro a day, bout £3.00, and we just bought inflatable’s and left them at hotel for some kids.
Overall, Lloret was very clean friendly place and I would definitely go back again, but would love to fly with diff airline than Ryan air! Luggage allowance on Ryan air, on the net it said, 20 kgs each and 10 hand luggage but on arriving at airport, it was 15 kgs for suitcase only!
Good job kids didn’t have hand luggage, we bought two like holdalls at £10 each and put excess in to them, so b warned, check your weight in cases otherwise can prove costly, and make sure all liquids, shampoo etc are in suitcase and you straighteners etc.
So happy hols and do enjoy it, and we had brill weather, was roasting!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Fenals garden for 10 nights from 21st to 31st of July 2005. For a 4* hotel we had high expectations despite the reviews we had read before going.
Would say to people thinking of staying in this hotel to go self catering, as we went half board we had breakfast and tea. For breakfast hotdogs, fried eggs and scrambled eggs were served every morning - would suggest not trying the orange or coffee as it is poor. For tea, being a fan of eating chips anyway, came home not wanting to eat them for a while, as you get fed up of eating chips and cauliflower everyday for tea.
However, apart from the food would say the hotel does deserve the 4* it has been awarded. The room we stayed in was on the 6th floor and was at the front of the hotel adjacent to a roundabout however the rooms are soundproof and we enjoyed watching the everyday life of the Spanish public nearly being killed on the roundabout.
The staff on reception are friendly and do speak some English. The cleaners are good, however we found one morning at 9am (not forgetting we went on holiday to get away from early mornings) there was a knock on the door one day, when I opened it there was nobody there, then 5 minutes later the door went again - it was the cleaner asked if we could leave so she could tidy, I said could you give us 5 minutes to get ready and with that she left. Then 5 minutes later and no more the cleaner opened the door with one of the ladies from reception and in so many words told us to leave the room immediately so the room could be cleaned!!
If I could suggest anything I would say go to the top of the road to an English restaurant called the HUNGARY HORSE it does fantastic English meals!! All in all we had a good holiday eating out! X

This hotel is rated as a 4* Hotel, I would give it 3* for bed and breakfast only and 2* for half board. On a busy road, 10 minute walk to beach.
Breakfast buffet OK, although rolls and croissants cold and not fresh. Dinner very poor selection and uneatable. Salads leftovers from breakfast and lunch with added vegetables and mayonnaise, no choice of meat, chicken or fish, or grizzly meat, served omelettes and pizza one evening for dinner. Desert no variation, fruit and crème brulee. Food was cold. We complained to our guide and on our last day Management gave us a glass of Sangria so that we could leave with a good feeling!!
Only 2 small lifts (for 3 people), a long wait to upper floors. Use of fridge 6 Euro deposit plus 3 Euro per day, also a charge for safe deposit box. Rooms are large and clean. Cup of coffee 1.50 Euro, at the hotel, elsewhere in Spain 1.10 Euro. We were there for 6 nights and had to eat elsewhere. A hotel for a one-night stay stopover B & B only suitable for students.
The pool had no privacy surrounded by apartment blocks. This hotel should not be listed as a 4* there are nicer 4* hotels around the area.
