\great for families of all ages

Sep 2011, boss

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Daystar. 7 family members went with ages ranging from 24 to 60. Mostly families there but there were a few couples. The rooms were basic but clean. The maids cleaned the room, made the beds & emptied the bins EVERY day. In the bar,Harry, Sayit, Cobi & Mo all speak good English & were really helpful, so friendly & welcoming. They obviously wanted you to eat in the bar/restaurant, but put no pressure on you to do so. Always shook your hand & said "enjoy your evening" even if you were eating/drinking elsewhere. They even bought us all a farewell drink while we were waiting for the coach to the airport. The food & drinks were reasonably priced & the menu was varied enough to suit most tastes. English breakfast as good as anywhere else we've been - good value.

  • Advice: Ask the bar staff for info. Much better than reps.

Ruined our holiday
1 / 10
Aug 2011, danielle1069

My boyfriend and I were staying in these appartments for two weeks whilst our family stayed at Rhodes appartments over the road. We initially were meant to be stopping there too but last minute we were informed there was no room for us.
When we arrived at the Daystar we met the head of the bar staff who we could tell was trouble upon our first meeting. It turned out every night we attempted to go and meet our family for a meal with them he would pester us to eat in their bar and when we said no his attitude would totally change. So much so that at the end of the holiday he didnt acknowledge us at all, which suited us anyway. At reception we informed them that we had a room booked, and it took us 15 minutes to get through to them that we had been moved and they had been sent forms from ICR to prove this. Eventually we were led up to a room in the loft , as we walked in we saw two wooden park benches facing each other with some sort of poor mattress on top. At first glance we assumed this was our sitting room/living area considering we had paid for 4 people. But no, this was supposed to be our bed for two weeks. There was nails hanging out the frame and the room was so cramped with the kitchen next to the benches (our bed) and the wardrobe plonked in the middle of the room. We later found out from other people staying at the hotel that the staff attempt to put everyone in the loft rooms and then move them only if you complain. They obviously would be aware these rooms are NOT what we paid for. So on the fourth day we complained and were moved to a much better, more spacious room with proper beds. These were still not up to the standard of what we paid however. Also, if you wanted new sheets or towels you must request this at the reception or it does not get touched. Another small tip, make sure u collect your passport before complaining about anything as we heard a threat was made to some other people staying that they would not get the passports back.
During our holiday after being moved we began to settle in and enjoy some of our holiday ignoring the staff and keeping ourselves to ourselves. However.. when we returned during the second week of our holiday we were stopped by a man at reception who was trying to inform us that our room had been used to fix the solar panels on the roof , and that there was a small leak which would be cleaned later. Knowing that we had been starting to pack that morning and that we had left our clothes on the floor in our case we rushed up to the room to find that my boyfriends outfit for the evening that he had layed out on the table had been left to drench in the lake that the hotel had kindly left all over our floor. Not to mention that they had left the back door wide open (probably to try and dry the water ) inviting anything and anyone to our belongings. This was the last straw for us and after phoning my mother to come over we complained to reception which ended in the man loosing his temper and becoming quite rude. We tried to explain that this water had obviously been there all day and he had simply left it til he could be ***** to sort it. He tried to say it was because he had been busy. But that was not the point, if someone had been in our room to fix something, we would expect that the room would be cleaned and returned to its original state after the job had been completed. why should we risk slipping and injuring ourselves whilst trying to get ready, have our clothes soaked and risk our stuff being stolen whilst the door being wide open. After this ordeal we finally moved into my mothers appartment at rhodes over the road which gave us a chance to finally have a good nights sleep without fire alarms going off early morning and not feeling safe due to the loud noises during the night.
We aren't fussy people we just wanted a quiet relaxing holiday where we felt safe. This hotel is not the answer if that's what you're looking for , it does have the potential but they simply need more staff and new attitudes! if you're looking for the same price for what you pay for try rhodes appartments !

Booked this last minute on the cheap so didnt expect it to be the best. On the whole it was a great holiday but there are many improvements needed. The location is nice, in the old village, approx ten minute walk to centre but if you want to be central its not for you. We didnt mind the walking so that was fine and buses do run from the end of the street.
The apartments were poor, small with little storage space and hardly equipped for a self catering holiday ie no pans, few crockery etc. The rooms were not cleaned daily and you had to ask for clean towels. The beds are changed once a week. This service not good enough really.
The pool area was nice, plenty of sun beds and the pool was clean. The Bar and pool area is run separately to the apartments. Staff were generally great except one who was huffy and moody (one of the owners) if you didnt eat there or buy drinks. Also watch your bill as a few times he added stuff we hadnt had. I would say the drinks are watered down as you cant taste spirits, and they are small measures compared to what you get cheaper or same price in the bars down town.
I loved icemeler and would go back for sure but i would probably stay somewhere else as we felt they were 'on the make' all the time.
Restaurants i would recommend are ROMANCE, THE MAJESTIC, CUPIDS and THE CUBANA.

Been to turkey many times but not been to icmeler before, really loved it loveley town ,loads of bars ect, definatley would reccomend it to anyone who likes turkey.I travelled on 26th of september with my boyfriend and our two kids aged 12 and 13.First impression of hotel on arriving at 5am wasnt good, lad on reception not helpful, found him a little rude.Room was very small and only one wardrobe for an appartment for 4!.Kitchen equiptment very poor, handle feel off knife, only 2 cups ect....Standard of the cleaners was also poor as was the bathroom as we couldnt even close the bathroom door!.Pool area was nice but didnt get cleaned much.Location was excellent just a short stroll out of town.Deffinatley would go to icmeler again but wouldnt stay at daystar as if you didnt eat and drink in there all the time the staff started to ignore you and were only interested in the two only single ladies staying there ,as on our last night we came back and caught them going off for the night with theese two tarty girls!!! say no more!

Great place to stay!

Aug 2010, fiona. m.

DayStar apartments are in a pretty and quiet part of Icmeler. There are a few little shops around about and you can walk into an old village. The beach and the centre of town is roughly a ten minute walk, and you can easily get the bus to Marmaris.
I stayed at the DayStar apartments from 4th July 2010 for two weeks with a friend and our children. The rooms are basic but clean and equipped with everything you need. Hairdryer etc in the bathroom and everything was in working order. Kitchen is equipped with a few utensils etc…if you are short of anything then report to reception and it will be provided the same day. Rooms are cleaned every day, times vary.
The pool area is a good size and there are plenty of sun beds though I would suggest being up early as lots of people do put towels down on the beds early.
On the contrary to the previous review I found it a good place to stay and the reception, bar staff and manager could not be more helpful and they provide excellent service. Staff will encourage you to eat in the restaurant as this is their job and its worthwhile trying the food. We did eat in the Day Star restaurant a few times and the food is nice and reasonably priced…British options available and Turkish dishes. The staff at every restaurant you walk past will also encourage you to stop and eat there.
There is some light entertainment provided every evening including a Turkish night which you can pay to have bbq food at which is lovely and very cheap. Kid’s songs such as Macarena and the Turkish kiss kiss song are played along with general pop music before entertainment starts.
The apartments are three star and on the basis that you get what you pay for I will give ten out of ten!

I arrived at club day star in icmeler on 2nd July 2010 and stayed there for 2 weeks with my boyfriend.....The apartments where very basic the hair dryer was broke the shower leaked all over the floor so we had to lay our towels down to clear it up this happend everyday the cleaners did not give us new towels and we had to ask for these we were given 1 toliet role in our room the first night and they also did not replace this so we had to go to reception to ask for a new toilet roll when ever we needed it.When we opened our bedroom window it came off the hindges also when i opened the curtain to the balolny it fell down also when i was having a shower i opened the curtain and the rail fell down on me. The worst thing about the holiday was not the accomodation but the manager of the hotel Freddie he hasseled us everyday we were there and half of the second week to he would come up to us around the pool asking us to come eat in the resturant and when we said no he would start asking why not?when we would leave the hotel at night time he would come up to us and say come in here and eat why are you going somewhere else this was very embarrasing as it was infront of other guests in the hotel but they later said they had the same problem as us with him!! He would also shout out on a micro phone no water or food near the pool exept what is bought from the resturant (which is double the price of the little show down the road) when he came up to us for the 8th time asking us to eat in the resturant which we did the day before i asked him to stop hasseling us we are a self catering holiday not all inclusive he was very rude to me i said i would complain if he carried on like this and he responded with WHO ARE YOU GOING TO TELL?IDONT CARE!!so later that day i complained to my thomas cook rep.......on the good side Icmeler it self is lovely just a shame the hotel manager was so nasty

just returned from 1 week at the club daystar. arrived 4 am in morning, no bedding for our little girl, went to reception to ask for it and was told i couldn't have any bedding untill the cleaners arrived later that morning. chairs and bed legs were all nailed on. one chair collapsed from under me (i'm hardly heavy at 10 stone) told reception they just said thanks for letting them know. no clean bedding or towels, bathroom vile, black, mould, shower curtain held up by wire, glass shelf "hanging" over sink. didn't even have a teaspoon in the kitchen. the bar is supposed to be a seperate business to the hotel yet you couldn't take your own food or drink to pool you had to buy from bar. constant hassle to eat/drink there. breakfast is local, cucumber, honey, cheese, bread !! pool side filthy, sunbeds filthy, we had to get buckets of pool water to swill the floor where we were sitting as it was full of sick and stunk. if you complain or ask for anything they just tell you they don't understand. we usually go to greece and don't mind basic accommadation as long as it is clean. so it is'nt we are being over fussy or was expecting anything fancy. we had booked to stay at hotel eda but on arrival there we were told we had to go and stay at club daystar - never ever again

What a great holiday and what a great place to stay in this little corner of paradise , we were in a studio and the view from there was stunning , the room was spotless and the apartments were very clean , the food was very good and cheap enough to buy the staff cant do enough for you lisa, mesut & james ( 007) Ali JJ all very helpfull and friendly , i doubt you will see a better apartment pool in the area its fab and situtated in a sun trap .
The bar provides Sattelite TV big screen and a friendly welcome , while we we there my wife fell in town and broke her wrist what followed was a stressfull time for us as my wife was admitted to hospital and had an op , be warned never travel to turkey without insurance we had it and the admin staff at the hospital still made life very difficult for us , without the support of the staff at the daystar i dont think we would have coped through what was a very stressfull time for us , so a BIG THANKYOU TO YOU ALL .
These apartments are ideal for couples and younger people alike 10 min walk into town we highly recommend these apartments you will be pushed to find better go book it you know it makes sense .
