Do Not Go Here With Vision
from sunnydays251
This was the worst holiday I have ever experianced. I should have taken note of the other reviews on this site. This is not a four star hotel!!!! It is like a block of flats in the inner city somewhere. Rooms are the size of a prison cell. Air conditioning is expensive and does not do what it says on the can!! There are only about 4 rooms with balconys in the hotel. Breakfast is disgusting. staff and managers dont want to know when things are going wrong. We eventually had to be moved as staff had been going through our belongings in the room. I would discourage anyone from booking to come here.
Had a great time!

Just come back from a one week trip to Gumbet (5 girls, 24yrs old) and had a fantastic time. Booked a cheap deal through Vision holidays to Sunway and wasn't disappointed with the hotel at all, taking into consideration what we paid. Fair enough, the drains can be a bit stinky and you have to pay for your air con, but the rooms were very clean, staff friendly and the turkish bath a must! Sun loungers were always available by the pool and the hotel was situated in a perfect location - 5 mins walk to the beach and at the end of the main strip (so it wasn't too noisy). I would recommend trying to get a room towards the back of the hotel so you are away from the main road. The roof terrace was also great to look out on the bay late at night. If you are going for traditiional Turkish food, you won't find much in Gumbet! All the restaurants seem to offer the same kind of menu. We found Planet Yukka (next door to Sunway) the best and the live entertainment was great. Would definitely go back!

Just got back from Gumbet yesterday (Sunday 23rd July) Me and a friend booked the holiday 3 days before we were due to go and after reading some reviews were slightly worried. However when we arrived at Sunway hotel we were pleased with what we had got for our money. The hotel was very clean with an on site very good Turkish Bath, nice size pool and plenty of sunbeds. Did have to pay for air-con but was only £3 a night and definately needed it (got away with only paying 3 nights instead of 6!)! We went B&B and had heard some bad reviews about the breakfast however we feel we got what you would call a continental breakfast (you had to pay if you wanted a full english which worked out to about £3) although a restaurant along the road did them for £1!!!!!! Hotel was situated nicely- close to bar street- but not to close! and a short walk to the beach. Beaches were not great in Gumbet so we went to Bitez beach which was a bit nicer. Not anything to do at the hotel at night although did put on what looked like a good BBQ and Turkish night. Would recommend it if you do not plan to stay around the hotel in the evening!
bird flu claims family rooms!

Just back from 2wks in Gumbet, booked with Vision Holidays (1st & last) not a word of welcome from the rep on route & was abandonded at the Sunway @ 4am where we found that the family rooms booked had been taking over by the owner & family due to the bird blu outbreak! We stayed 1 night before being moved to the Tosunoglu Apart Hotel which turned out to be an excellent decision & would recommend it 2 anyone. Had a quick look around the Sunway in the short time there & found the Roof top Jacuzzi out of action, our rooms were 4 floors up which meant a pool trip of 4 flights then more steps up to the pool area, not ideal with children. While the rooms were clean & basic , they were well below the star rating given & in our room the wood panelling was hanging off the wall exposing live wires. On the good side & yes there was one.........The Turkish Bath & Massage which we were given free due to the muck up was totally brilliant & a must to try.
4 Star (you having a laugh)

Just arrived back from the Sunway with Vision Holidays. I have never been more disappointed with a tour operator and the quality of food in the hotel in 15+ years of travelling. I booked Half board to find that the evening menu consisted of 2 starters, always a soup or humus/local yogurt dip, and then a choice of 2 dishes for the main course, normally chicken (which always had mushroom in it) or miniscule portions of very odd tasting meat. All of which were served in such small portions that a pigeon would still be hungry after a sitting The dessert for 7 days was as follows: Sunday, (2 small pieces of watermelon), Monday, Watermelon, Tuesday Watermelon, Wednesday (you guessed it Watermelon), Thursday Watermelon, Friday great Pudding!!!! Until it arrived, Very odd tasting Mousse, Saturday it was Fruit, and yes you guessed it the fruit was watermelon, a slice of honeydew melon!!!!! The portions were exceptionally small, bread in the evening was the leftovers from Breakfast, and generally the quality was below a 2 crown hotel. I resorted to eating in the local resturants for six out of the seven nights I was there!!!! Hardly a great advert/endorsement for a 4 star half board hotel. I was told that the Hotel had Air conditioning, which is true, but Vision holidays neglected to tell me that a remote control was required to operate the air conditioning at a cost of £3 per day!!! I have spoken to 8 other holidays makers who are writing to Vision or ATOL as they were upset/dissatisfied/ irrate at being missold the holiday accomodation. This is a good average for Vision as I only spoke to 8 and then gave up!!!!!! On the plus side, the swimming pool was a decent size, with plenty of room/sunbeds. I spoke to Vision regarding the above, the Salesperson who sold me the holidays, gleefully said that if you look on page 4 of the agreement, paragraph blah blah blah, line sosososo you will find in the very very small print additional services are charged for, and a remote for the Air conditioning is AN ADDITIONAL SERVICE. As for the food the comment was " I go on holiday to see the sites not the food" that would be ok if she and Vision had not charged me a fortune for booking HALF BOARD!!!! I did manage to get the customer care number from her, and have now been holding for 55 mins, as I write this review!!! Please do NOT ruin your holiday and give Vision Holidays and the Sunway Hotel a wide berth. NB Vision holidays also trades as Fly Brits One very --- Off holiday maker
sunway looked okay but....

just returned from our first trip to turkey, was booked in to sunway, but had to leave as they did not have the 2 family rooms we had originally booked, we only stayed one night, we transfered to another hotel which was excellant, before we left we had a look around the sunway and it appeared nice enough, excellant breakfast selection, no rooftop jaccuzzi as was advertised, the rooms were basic but clean, turkish bath and massage treatment at the sunway must be tried, thought i would do this review as some of the reviews are well out of date and i was put off by some of them.
Forget the Past - Sunway is Fantastic now!!

Just arrived back this week after spending 2 weeks at the excellent Sunway Hotel in Gumbet. We booked through Vision Holidays and after reading some of the older reviews wondered what we were going to find, but since we got a really good deal weren't really that bothered! What can i say, we were very pleasantly surprised! The hotel has new owners this year and obviously this has made a big difference. The rooms were clean, tv, fridge, air con (which you pay for unless you know of other ways ;0) !!) and had daily cleaning. The pool was lovely (but be warned quite deep!) with plenty of room, never once finding trouble in getting a sunbed. The breakfast at the hotel was good enough - as far as i'm concerned when it says its continental then a good selection of bread, cheese, eggs, hams, juices, cereals, pastries etc is more than sufficient! To be fair we only made brekkie 3 times as the nightlife was good also but there's plenty of choice for breakfast at the restaurants - the Mandarin just down the road did a cracking English breakfast for £1 - you cant go wrong at that! In terms of the resort - if you get by the hassle, which isn't as bad as people go on about, then its a realyy good place to go. Excellent restaurants, namely Mandarin, Planet Yucca, Cafe de Columbia (a must if you like steak - best ones i've ever had abroad) and The Windy Bay. Plenty of bars selling pints for around 50p also - what more could a man want! All in all the Sunway IS better this year and i would recommend to anyone!
Breakfast Menu

We found the breakfast menu appalling – very poor, we had breakfast twice in the week we stayed at Sunway Hotel– English breakfast is chargeable. This meant more expense – not impressed. Apart from breakfast issue – our stay at Sunway was satisfactory – the staffs are very friendly. Maureen Claudia
NIce hotel, Nice staff

Me and my boyfriend stayed at The Sunway mid June and have to say that even though we arrived after they had finished serving food, the head waiter still allowed us to order a 3 course meal, which was quite nice. Beware at breakfast time as the continental breakfast is part of your package but the English one is chargable!! Our room was nice if a little basic and you have to pay by the day/week for the remote control to operate the air conditioning. But we got around that little problem. (I won't say how). The staff were very pleasent at all times and the Turkish Bath on site is a must have. Beware as they will try and make you have other things done at a price. The pool area is large enough so you won't find yourself fighting for a sun bed. The beach is quite close by and there are dozens of restaurants where you can get a cheap but lovely English brekkie or really nice Chinese, Italian or even Indian meal at affordable prices. Try The Mandarin where the staff are extremly friendly (especially Charly,Tariq and Alan) or Planet Yucca as we found these to be 2 of the best along the road. All in all our stay at the Sunway was very nice
best hol ever!

Booked our hol to Gumbet through vision holidays last min. Was a little concerned about the bad reviews, but as we got the hol so cheap we were not to bothered. However, it turned out that the hol could not of been better. On arrival we were helped to our rooms by the kind staff. The rooms were very clean and towels / bed linen was changed daily. Fair enough our room did have a really pongy drain in the bathroom, but its my belief that you just have to giggle at these things and not let them bother you, because that really was the only negative thing about our room. The breakfast wasn't that good at sunway, but so what! fot the price your paying it really doesnt matter, plus theres plenty of places nearby where you can eat for £1, so I dont understand why this would be a major concern??? The hotel was lovely, has a turkish bath which you can use a little cheaper than anyone else, big pool thats clean and stocked with plenty of loungers, lilos etc and a lovely bar to sit at in the evening. Bar drinks and snacks were all very cheap and nice also. Probably the best thing about the hotel was the fab staff, couldn't do enough to help you. The resort itself was fab, try the mandalin restaurant a few doors down, great food and even greater people. All in all this wa sa fab hol, so good infact that less than 48 hours after being back in England Ive booked to go again in a months time...... and ive a sneaky suspision we will be back in Sept also.
Orginally having booked the Bellacassa Hotel, Gumbet, on arrival we were told they were fully booked, and they were movin us to Sunway, which was same star ratin(4*). On arrival to Sunway there were numerous of other guests with the same story, complaining about the state... more
