We stayed for 4 nights at this hotel. Situated in the correct place if you want to visit the historic sites in Sultan Ahmet. Hotel is new, so the decor and furniture is modern and comfortable. The wellness centre is really nice with the indoor pool, jacuzzi, gym etc. Pitty you have to pay for most of the facilities. Breakfast was dry with wide selection of rolls. Great location and very nice hotel. It is well located in the heart of old city, Sirkeci. Walking distance to all historical places in Sultanahmet area, Eminönü seaports, Sirkeci Railway station, Tramway station or bus stops. The furnishings are new and contemporary lines. We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in August 2006. The first night we were put in the smallest room in the hotel. The door was an inch away from hitting the bed when we opened it. There was literally no room to put our bags - apart from the bed, which is unacceptable for a 4 star hotel for any length of time. There was no wardrobe and no in-room safe as advertised. Great location but the street is very pokey . went with the family five of us in two rooms. Rooms quite small but clean. Never stayed in a hotel before where the jaccuzi is cold. reception staff were stroppy, bring your own teabags or be prepared to pay for a cup of tea 4 euros. The breakfast was very poor choice. They photocopy your passport and when I needed scrap paper they recylce the copies so you have personel details of previous visitors, when I complained on checking out they make excuses saying they are for the police station, no... more

It was quite unfortunate that during our first night, there was a blackout in Istanbul so it was quite hot. Our room for the first 2 nights was really small and not even a wardrobe is available. This is even smaller than some of the hotels that I stayed before like in Hong Kong. After we came back from Bursa, we got a bigger room. The Orsep Royal is bit above average hotel. I spent 5 days at the hotel which is in many ways like the pics online with one notable exception beware it is on a bit of a sketchy side street. Not a problem in the day time but a little scary at nite. We stayed at the Orsep Royal hotel for 4 nights. It was clean, nicely decorated and the best part was the location. It is very close the the tram stop and close to major sites such as the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topokapi Place. It is down some small streets and can be scary at night when walking around, but nevertheless it worked out fine. This being our first visit to Istanbul 30.12.05-02.01.06, we chose this as available with the flights through an agent and checked the hotels own website and others for pictures and information. We tried phoning in advance and e-mailing without success to get a satisfactory response about airport transfers. Pictures can be deceptive, the hotel is a bit pokey and gloomy. Absolutely fab hotel. Very modern and clean. We booked B&B. Food at breakfast brill. Wonderful spa bath in bathroom. Not a bad word to say about this hotel. Book their limo service to the airport - its slightly more expensive than a local taxi but is well worth it. I agree with the other report - the Homemade cafe just up the road is fab also.

The Orsep Royal Hotel is such a beautiful new hotel just off the main tram line and in very close walking distance to the main historic attractions in the Sultanahmet area. This being my first visit to Istanbul (Nov 1-7) and choosing this hotel blindly over the internet, I couldn't have been more pleased! The staff is very helpful and quite fluent in English; the breakfast is abundant with great Turkish coffee.
