After reading some of the rewiews before going to this resort, we were a bit sceptical to staying at the Mavi Hotel Village in Gulluk.
However after arriving we very soon foud out that the reviews we had read were very wrong.
All though the hotel is a bit old and out-dated,it is currently being renovated and worked on as we speak without causing any inconveniance to any of the guests.
The hotel complex is very big and has plenty of decent facilities such as a pool, basketball court, a small 5-a-side football pitch as well as a tennis court which is being renovated this week.
Please bear in mind, though, that this is not a Luxury Hotel but it is clean and basically a no frills resort.
However, what made our holiday was the well maintained private beach at the resort with plenty of room for everybody as well as the most friendly and hard working staff that could not do enough for you. The Food was fresh allthough it could be a bit repetative but generally it was very good with a great choice of fresh produce.
The Management and the staff responsible for the entertainment was changed in the week that we arrived and we thought they were all brilliant.
The small nearby willage of Gulluk is very friendly and inviting with all the local people being both very genuine and helpful.
Genenerally, our stay was very good and we have no complaints. It is great for a relaxing holiday with stunning views and an oppertunity to experience a slice of real Turkish life.

We went this year on the 4th June 2010. Was very quiet when we arrived. Was full by the time we came home. Do not be put off by the reviews previously, you get for what you pay for. The staff were lovely, the food was better than anyone made out. Depends if you want to eat chips or not. Healthy, good choice.
Met lovely people, had an wonderful time. Only thing was kids club is non existant, but kids being kids find their own entertainment.
I would go back tomorrow.

Whatever you do, take notice of this review and don't risk a ruined holiday by booking this hotel,
We arrived in the early hours of the morning to find dirty, dark & gloomy accommodation, my 7 year old daughter actually burst into tears when she saw the room. We slept in our clothes as we didn't want to get our nightclothes dirty from the grubby sheets. The next morning we couldn't face a shower in the filthy bathroom with black grouting and loose wires hanging out of the walls. Then, upon exploring the resort, discovered that there was actually no sign of any other people apart from 1 person on reception. The Manager confirmed that there was only actually 1 other couple staying in the hotel.
The childrens play area was falling apart with loose plugs & wires hanging out of the walls, there was actually an extension lead plugged in & trailing into a puddle of water next to the (broken)table tennis table. The swimming pool water was bright green and we could not find anywhere at all to get a drink, bearing in mind this was meant to be an all inclusive holiday(all the bars were packed away with no staff)The desk in reception was rotton all along the bottom, looking suspiciously like it had actually been chewed by something, all the flooring was filthy, it could not have been cleaned for weeks as there was thick dirt ingrained along all the edges & corners. The fountains outside were all empty with a disgusting smell coming from them.
We spent the whole day back & forth on the phone to our rep arranging to transfer to another hotel - the only other alternative was to get straight on plane & go home. We finally got moved to another hotel at 5pm (having to pay for our own taxi) It was the worst hotel I have ever been in, we were aware that it was close to the end of the season in Turkey but this was no excuse, whatever you do take notice of the reviews on this hotel - it really is that bad!

When we arrived there,we were happy to see the beautıful vıew and great location. But our hapıness did not last very long!!! only until we went to open buffet for lunch. the food is awful, kitchen and the staff is is dirty. we preferred to eat out although we paid for full board. one night we made a bad decision to give them one last chance and tried to have dinner ın the hotel and we got food poisoned.
On top of all these, the staff is very RUDE!! you are not allowed to complaın about anything or require anythşng in the hotel.
Do not go there if you would like to have a pleasent, peaceful and healthy holiday.
it is nothing like a 4 star hotel.

JUST DONT!!!!dont spend your hard earned cash on this hotel.
its that bad it would be shut down in britain.
our room was small and very much in need of a good clean.the bed was like lying on a plank of wood.mini bar consisted of water which had to be asked for.the socket that you put your key in so you could get electricity fell of the wall when you put it in.
the bathroom was disgusting, the shower looked as it had never been cleaned.the hooks were falling off the wall, the door handle fell off on both side causing my partner to get stuck in the bathroom.the toilet had a rusty bidet pipe which was improperly positioned and the flusher came off in your hand showing a gapping hole in the sistern.we had no hot water which never got rectified.requests to be move rooms fell on deaf ears.
we were two stories up and the balcony railing was loose.we had one scabby chair but the views we got very lovely.
the food was awful and the selection was very poor.there was wasps crawling all over everything and you had to swat them away when trying to eat.the choice of alcohol was
beer, which was nice,or vodka which is not what you expect from all inclusive.we went out at night for our dinner so we could get decent food.
the facilities that this hotel boasted, were either shut ,in disrepair or didnt exist.the smell of sewage in parts of the complex was disgusting.
the beach was small but nice, the water was warm, clear but rocky under foot.
the staff were pleasant enough but didnt seem interested in solving our problems.
after a few phone calls to our holiday provider we were moved on our third day to an excellent hotel, which definately saved our holiday and stopped us from coming home early.
if you are looking for a good hotel look somewhere else!

I was fortunate enough only to have stayed here for about 6 hours. We were on a First Choice flight that was delayed for 17 hours from Bodrum. We were taken from the airport to this resort for breakfast and a room to freshen up in and sleep. The actual setting and the grounds are pretty but the buildings and everything else are really worn out.
The worst was the dining area and the kitchen which is absolutely swarming with wasps. The buffet breakfast was covered and the wasps were in the cereals and everything else as it was all out in the open. The kitchen was a couple of inches deep in water and the staff were wearing boots.
We spoke to some guests there who were all dying to get home. Some who were all inclusive were going out to eat every night and paying rather than eat there.

The mavi holiday village has got a beautiful private beach the pool is great there's a massive language barrier and the english weren't liked by the majority of the staff our room was cleaned every day bedding changed every other day clean towels every day the food was awful the wasps were crawling in the hundreds all over the deserts when we complained we were told that there was a nice restaurant down the road but we had paid for all inclusive needless to say we had to eat out all of the time the alcoholic drinks were very limited we met quite a few english families that made our holiday or we would have had a terrible time i read some reviews before we went to the mavi and thought what do people want but i'm sorry to say this was worse than any reviews that i read

Do not be fooled by 4 star rating. If this hotel was in Britain it would have been shut down!!! Probably not even a 2 star. It is definately not catered for Brits and when the official Turkish holiday season begins they don't even make the effort to talk English during announcements or the entertainment. The food was not fit for human consumption, the wasps which swarmed all around it didn't help, which the locals just seemed to accept and eat.
We read reviews stupidly after booking this hotel, and when the teletext rep called back with the confirmation, I expressed my concerns but was reassured not to worry, there was no complaints about this place. We feel totally conned as it is obvious there has been no visit to the hotel by the holiday company or they would not sell this holiday!
You do not pay for an all inclusive holiday to fork out money for every meal to eat else where, it's a disgrace!! Local drinks include vodka, gin rakki and lager- thats it.
When we complained about the food, the staff advised us of nice eateries in the town, that says it all.
On a positive note, the surroundings are lovely but thats it.
And there is no local boat to Bodrum. There is a mini bus, which takes 45 min to Bodrum.
Please do not go here, if you have booked it would be worth paying the cancellation fee.

my self and a friend decided to take our two children to the mavi on a well earned holiday we booked through tele text holidays whom i will never use again !!!!!
on arriving every thing looked fine the views were beautiful we were greeted well and showed to our room which was a little small for a four star ,there was a portable tv on top of a fridge in one of the two rooms and air con in the second,
things started to go wrong when we went down for breakfast 2 hours after we arrived boiled egg and bread (no toast)lunch was no better and dinner we just left !!!
when we asked for a safty deposit box it took ten minutes and a phone call before we were told they didnt supply one , no one spoke a word of english even to ask for milk to put in the tea that was supplied in the lobby was a disaster.we also tried the bar for soft drinks ,no diet drinks were available the entire week
there were no snacks available during the day for the kids (nothing you would let your kids eat anyway).
the short walk into bodrum turned into a 45 minute bus ride and all 9 attemps to meet with our tour rep failled we spent more time waiting around for him/her than we did in the sun.
after 2 days watching the kids starve we were forced to take the 15 min walk into gulluk town twice a day to eat.
the pool and bar areas were filthy and the smell was terrible.
going on holiday ltd (a tele text agent) has really let us down i have had quite a few holidays to turkey so i wont let it put me off going again i just wont use tele text holidays again.
this was not the 4 star holiday we paid for the mavi holiday village is no more than a 2 star accommadation that should not be serving food .

Me and my boyfriend, both aged 20, stayed for a week in Mavi Holiday Village. Only ten minutes away from Bodrum airport- very convienient for arriving in the early hours on the morning. On arrival- we realised instantly it was not what we expected. None of the staff could communicate with us, as no one spoke english. We did not even meet our Goldtrail rep until the 3rd day of our holiday, which we were upset as we waited two hours for the rep on the first day and he did not show. Major communication problems between rep and reception! We had to change our rooms three times, as the first had poo in the toilet, the second was clearly just as dirty and the thrid was just about acceptable- although very small. All rooms were missing a mini bar, a safe box and 24 hours room service. When we complained for not having a safe box, which I feel is vital for any holiday- we got told we could use the office safe for a £20 charge. For an all inclusive hotel- we had the choice of juices and fizzy drinks and local spirits and beer until 11pm evry night, but the food was disapointing. Advertised as having both an english and turkish buffet- but we only saw turkish food, so ended up eating out on a few nights.
For a cheap and cheerful holiday- it is adequate, but dont expect the 4 star rating we have seen on various web sites.

One night I and my friends were woken up at 3am to find that the building we were staying in was filled with smoke. Not by members of staff but by another tourist, as we walked out of the smoke filled building it occurred to me that there was not a single smoke detector anywhere in this apartment block that could properly hold 200 people. By the time we got outside one man had collapsed from the smoke. As there were no members of staff anywhere in sight we decided that we should go to reception to alert them to the problem. The incompetence we encountered there was unbelievable. At first the man at reception, who on previous occasions had spoken to us pretend he could not speak English. Then another member of staff came, we explained that the building was filled with smoke and that we were unsure if everyone was out. Not only did they fail to response to our concerns they seem to be acting completely normally as if this happen on regular occasions. In the end I myself wrote down all the people who were out of the building and got the receptionist to ring the one room that was left. However even this she failed to do properly instead of warning them they could be in danger she just said hi is everything ok, to the extent I had to ring them back. The hotel staff failed to attempt there was a problem and refused to ring the emergences services, in the end my friend had to call for an ambulance for the collapsed man. Even this they tried to dismiss he reaction by saying he had asthma, failing to see that smoke is dangerous and that other people may have suffered from asthma too. All of the guest in the building were put under considerable stress and inconvenience and were not offered any compensation or apologue.
