My husband and I booked the Volcano View hotel as a luxury trip for our honeymoon. We paid a lot of money (nearly £3000) for absolute peace and tranquility. When we arrived the hotel had double booked us and didnt have a room available. I cried sat on the concrete in the heat. The manager offered us some grubby apartment across the road with the promise of another room in a day or two. The travel agents were worse than useless. We were given an excursion for free but it didn't and hasn't taken away the horror of horrors - you arrive on your dream trip and find that someone cant be bothered to book you a room. In the end we were given a room you had to kick the door to get it to open. There should have been a CD player in the room - there wasnt. The steps over the top of our apartment meant you heard footsteps all of the time. There were not enough sunbeds for the numbers of guests and the chlorine in the pool turned my hair green. The management were just out to make as much money as possible. The manager told me 'of course we over book rooms incase someone doesnt turn up'. I told him we were on honeymoon and he said 'so what, they are all on honeymoon here'. Gutted. Approaching our 1st wedding anniversary next week and we're still gutted. Very very poor.

Wow, what a place! Have just arrived back from Santorini and the Volcano View hotel and it is simply stunning! The views were amazing and every night we saw the beautiful sunset right from our hotel room.
The rooms are typically Greek, basic, with all the facilities you'd expect, air con, TV, hairdryer, plenty of hanging and drawer space, even cooking facilities and a fridge. The hotel is located about 2km from the capital of Thira/ Fira which is a bustling town with cool bars, shops, restaurants and spectacular scenery.
The hotel runs a free courtesy bus until 10pm to and from Fira. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, the pool areas are gorgeous and always enough loungers available, there are lots of steps around the property, so those with walking difficulties may struggle as there are no lifts. Breakfast is taken each morning in the a la carte restaurant with an array of choice.
Kamari is a short bus ride away and again buses run right through to 1am, Kamari is the beach resort with a long promenade full of places to dine and drink.
The beaches are all pebbly, but the water is crystal clear. The boat trip to the volcano is worth the trip as you get to swim in the hot springs. It was simply a gorgeous island and the hotel was such a fantastic choice.
I would say this would probably suit, couples, honeymooners and those who wish to experience Santorini in it's real beauty every single day.
