Savelen Hotel or was it Savhell Hostel?
We were told at booking 3star family run hotel all inclusive. 4km from airport. sea views. Stayed for a week in august 2007 2 adults 1 child paid for 3 adults.
The food was not all inclusive as such it was put on 3 tables tea party style at nans house. If you were not there when it was brought out well you ate out, which we did 5 out of 7 days. There was no snacks so if you missed a meal you had to walk 25 minutes to nearest cafe.
You could see the beach as crow flys but have to walk 20 mins to get there. There was a constant "we have no drinks left." so if you like a drink dont book here.
The surroundings are very nice if you like total quiet, until the planes come off the runway.
All in all I'd sum it up as not an all inclusive but rather a 2* hostel, with lunch and evening meal. Mostly pork some other meat rice/pasta and a few drinks when they had them. Very dissapointing holiday. There is a building by the pool which says eat here however there was never any snacks drinks or ice creams in it.
Child had a camp bed to sleep on even though we were not camping. Happy camping folks.

Stayed for a week 15-22 august 2007 very disappointed with food there was no choice for an all inclusive hotel.
There was a constant we have no drinks no matter what time and I’m talking soft drinks. There were no snacks and the snack bar by pool was used just for keeping ice cubes in.
The airport is close by you can wave as the planes pass the windows! The staff where pleasant and helpful.
If you complained they wanted to get police and throw you out. This is more of a two star halve board hostel and is not equipped to be an all inclusive hotel.

We booked our 1 week stay from teletext/great choice holidays. The food was very disappointing. They constantly had no drinks, even though it was sold as an all inclusive 3* we ate out most days.
Even the 25 minute walk to nearest restaurant was worth it.
If you like airports you’ll like this as you can get the numbers as they pass over balcony.
Would recommend this for heavy metal recovery hostel. In our opinion this is a 2* hostel with half board, there are no hot plates to keep meals hot and it is placed on three tables. So get there early before the flies eat it all.

Well! After reading some of the poor reviews for Hotel Savelen I thought I'd add something positive.
I arrived at Savelen with my three children (Aug 2006)and was warmly welcomed on arrival by Sav the owner.
Our rooms were quite basic but both rooms were very clean, bright and comfortable. The lovely sunny balcony overlooked the gardens and from there I enjoyed the stunning sunsets and views of distant Turkish hills.
Breakfast consisted of eggs, ham, tomato and cheeses with bread, jams and fresh juice and coffee...who wants Full English if you visit Greece anyway!!!?
Lunch and evening dinner was fresh and delicious, especially salads and the lovely homemade aubergine dip.
Drinks and icecream were generous and plentiful, with charges only after midnight.
Our host, Sav, was great fun and very helpful. For a small charge, he will 'taxi' you around the island to some beautiful beaches and places of interest...and is happy to enjoy an ouzo or two with you as well.
All in all, our stay in Savelen is fondly remembered and I definitely intend to go back. The location is a little isolated, but nowhere on Rhodes is too far away, either by taxi, or in our case, the local bus (stops outside).
Sav and his family made our holday very enjoyable.
