Sotiris Studios Reviews
" SOTIRIS EXCELLENT BASE "

we have just returned from a 1 week break at the sotiris apartments,Kefalonia. from the minute we arrived Terry made us welcome and showed us to our room. the family owners are extremely freindly and genuine people, and make your stay as pleasant as possible. the situation is right next to the airport but no problem. its a very quiet and un developed area and is great if like us you dont want loads of clubs and nightlife around. there are a couple of local tavena's nearby but if you want more you will need to get transport, which Terry will hapily arange for you, which can be delivered to the apartment. we walked into Lassi for some exersize which took 90 minutes and was 9 km. the little Ammes beach is tranquil and unspoiled and also tidy. one thing i thought was good is the bar prices are not extortionate like some places. Maria,Terry's mum is lovely and will chat to you about the island and their experiences of their time in New York where they lived. the gardens are really nice and tidy and they have really thought about the lay out as it all looks well planned out. i would say the Sotiris would suit all types, families with kids, couples, old and young. in my opinion a little gem. we dont normally return anywhere but we would love to go back next year as the welcome was so genuine. I never write reviews about holidays as I am normally either just satisfied or disapointed. However on this occassion my expectations were surpassed.
This accomodation is very basic, but if you are looking for the most amazing service, welcoming and friendly faces and beautiful setting then this is the place to go. The family who own and run the apartments have 150% commitment to making your holiday what you want, whether its booking cars, suggesting tourist attractions, recomding restaurants - their wish is your command.
The bar is open all day and night as is the restaurant. We had many a happy afternoon/night spent drinking cocktails made by one of the 3 friendly sons who now run the business.
We ate in the restaurant only one evening, there is a mixture of greek and british dishes. There are a few restaurants in walking distance but you really need a car to go further a field. We also hired bikes for a couple of days from a local hotel which was another great way to see the village and local beaches.
The village is within 5/10 mins drive from the airport - DO NOT BE PUT OFF - I think we saw 10 planes in the whole week and its loads of fun watching the come and go and waving off your new found friends as they fly over head.
They must have 100% retention of customers, as we didnt meet a single couple/family that hadnt been there previously - I am sure that speaks for itself.

Having just returned following our 12th stay at Sotiris we wanted to add our comments following the last review . No , this is not a place for those who want to " go it large " but for those seeking a relaxing , tranquil holiday in beautiful srroundings , with the friendliest Greek family you could ever wish to meet well , look no further ! I can assure anyone that the extremely high number of repeat guests is testament itself . The area of Svoronata is unspoilt with a lovely beach 5 mins away & a number of resturants serving local cuisine within walking distance . Having stayed For 3 weeks 2 years ago in June the fact that we ate out only twice should tell anyone how superb Maria 's home cooking is ! The rooms are very clean & serviced daily . Towels are changed regularly & if you encounter any problems the family are only too happy to sort them ( we never have had any ) . The pool bar is VERY well stocked & again is run throughout the day & night by 3 of the wonderful sons - music is NOT blasting out but played at an unobtrusive level . Many a friendship has been made there as its a gathering place for the guests to chat to each other over a drink or two .
Hire of a car is an advantage as the Island is so beautiful with many places to visit which would be an added bonus to anybody visiting Kefalonia .
The fact that the airport is only 5 mins away should not deter anyone . There are not lots of flights . NO late night ones & it is fun to watch the few that arrive fly over .
This is a wonderful place to stay with the loveliest of people running it & we cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone wanting a relaxing break to re-charge the batteries whilst still having a great time !

" we booked a one bedroomed apartment... "

we booked a one bedroomed apartment for two, which we got so one person slept in the bedroom and the other slept in the kitchen!! room was basic with poor cooking utensils (so eating out every night is a must) towels were only changed twice and also bedding changed twice. we had a problem with our toilet the first day and after much pestering by me to the owner, he finally agreed we had a broken toilet and fixed it a day later. the restaurant on the site is very much geared towards to british taste and there is not enough greek food on the menu. the apartments were supposedly cleaned daily, but this usually involved just emptying the bins and if you were lucky a supply of toilet roll. the room never looked clean to me and could have done with a once over before new guests arrive. WHATEVER YOU DO - don't be tempted to pay huge prices for a private taxi transfer (we got done with £50 return) it is literally 20 mins walk from the airport terminal or 5 mins in a local taxi. overall the place was OK by greek standards, but dont go there if you want to "give it large" - this is a place to totally unwind.

Fabulous place, fabulous people. Almost walking distance from the airport, but hey, your holiday starts even sooner and lasts that bit longer!
If you want a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings, you could not choose better. Hire a car and discover more of this beautiful island but I think you'll find that the best beaches are right on your doorstep. Stunning scenery. We are lifelong converts!

Sotiris are a family run studios, in a small resort called Svoronata. 5 mins transfer from the airport, the only downside is the plane noise, but this is only a couple of times a day, and sometimes not at all. The studios are clean and simply decorated. They have a shower and a cooking hob, along with a sink and a balcony. The studio was cleaned everyday whilst we were there.
There is a small shop with the essentials, including delicious fresh bread every day. It is also has a restaurant, with outside tables and home cooking from one of the owners, each night. Real Greek food and is absolutely scrumptious! The bar is well stocked, and has good prices.
The pool is cleaned every night, and is big enough to play around in. There are lots of deckchairs and umbrellas.
There are 2 beaches within easy walking distance, as well as 3 restaurants, and a pool bar. There is car hire in the main Svoronata resort and a supermarket. The bus to the main town goes from nearby, but only twice a day.
Overall a fantastic holiday, and wouldn't hesitate to go back. The personal touch from the owners made all the difference.
