" A huge disappointment. Definitely not... "
Submitted By: Mr R Mammuu
A huge disappointment. Definitely not worth its 3rd star :
*** not enough tables for 2 at restaurant : had to wait once more than an hour to get seated
*** scary service at restaurant, made by a non-professional team : all customers had to insist to make people just listening to them. Some days we had deserts before main course ; most likely, we had to wait (30/45 minutes) between two dishes during diner as waiters kept forgetting to bring what we ordered. We had such problems during EVERY 7 diners.
*** no kettle, additional pillows, additional blankets, curtains (not even at 2nd floor) - the room was big, but quite empty...
*** no room service
*** no Canal + movie channel (very common for 3 star hotels in France)
*** very noisy room until midnight, every night - it seems the wall are not thick enough.
*** continental breakfast only, with ham and cheap cheese : not hot dishes, not even eggs.
*** shower not hot enough
*** room not cleaned 2 days in the week, without notice nor explanation. Shower gel and shampoo not provided some days.
*** dirty towels given several times - staff complained about "problems with the laundry" as an excuse
*** regarding La Tania resort : I was surprised to notice that most restaurants won’t have a full service for lunch - not much a problem if you ski to Courchevel. The ski domain itself is great, of course :-)
*********** CONCLUSION :
Obviously, nobody deliberately did one of those mistakes : but what you can see is what happens when an hotel is 1) staffed with much too many non professional and 2) not managed, in the sense that nobody was here to take a step back and think a bit on what was happening.
To illustrate this : it was quite obvious that, as customers kept complaining every evening, that the waiters realized they did wrong and panicked. They were just poorly organized as all waiters were picking orders from all tables, meaning that none of them would feel "responsible" for a limited number of tables. But yet no manager took the right step to improve this.
For the record, I’m a frequent traveller and has visited dozens of hotels of the same category in France ; I’ve also been skiing a week in the Alps each Winter for years, and I’ve never seen such a poor service...

The food and French wines were fine, the location was perfect, (ski in and out!), really good value.
