After a 20 min. taxi journey from the airport costing 27 Euros we arrived at the Renieris at the top of the resort of Kato Stalos, which is about 10 mins drive from Chania city centre.
The reception was very good and our room on the 2nd floor had great views over the Bay of Chania, Theodoru island and the swimming pool.
The room had a/c for 5 Euros per day and a safe for 1 euro per day. There was also a fridge and hairdryer and both the room and bathroom were very clean. We had a balcony with a small table and a couple of chairs to sit and enjoy the lovely views.
The down side (for some people) of the great views were that you had to cope with 96 steps down to the beach and then a 10 min. walk to the village with some bars and tavernas. The pool area was lovely and there was a pool bar selling snacks during the day.
Breakfast was cereal, Greek yogurt and honey, bread, cheese, cake, orange juice and tea/coffee, and was available up until 1030am.
We went to Chania most nights on the bus from the main road at the bottom of the steps, as there was a really good selection of bars and restaurants here.
There are trips to the waterpark, local villages, and gorges on a small train from 14 Euros per person from the centre of Kato Stalos.
This is a great hotel for able bodied couples, but due to the amount of steps in and around the hotel, not for those less able or anyone with small children.

The hotel is only a few years old and is built around the top of a cliff giving most rooms a spectacular view of the Bay of Chania and Theodoru Island. Our room had twin beds (quite low though!), a fridge, small wardrobe and a balcony with a perfect view. The bathroom was a little better than the normal Greek bathrooms but the shower still made the floor very wet and not much space in it once the curtain was around. There was a hair-dryer in the bathroom to. There was a mini safe (1 euro per day) and air conditioning (5 euros per day). The room was cleaned regularly and we had clean sheets and towels often.
The breakfast consisted of Greek yoghurt, fruit, cereal, bread, cheese, cake and hot/cold drinks and was sufficient.
There was a lovely pool which was kept very clean and we never had a problem getting a sunbed as no-one reserved them!
Down the 96 steps (worth it for the view though!) was the main road into Chania where you could get a bus for 1.20 and it took about 15 minutes to the centre where there were loads of great bars and restaurants. You could also get a bus the other way to Aghia Marina and Platanias.
In Kato Stalos within walking distance of the hotel there were a few tavernas, shops and bars, although this is a quiet resort. The beach was lovely and clean but the sea was quite rough at times and the lifeguards sometimes advised against swimming.
There are lots of trips you can go on - eg. the little train into the gorge at Therissos or the Blue Lagoon trip or a trip around the little villages. There are also lots of boat trips from Chania and you can take a bus to Elafonissi where the beaches are beautiful and fairly deserted. There's also a waterpark nearby.
On the whole this was a great hotel and a great holiday. I would recommend this hotel for couples, but not for anyone who is less able as you need to do a lot of walking and climbing of steps to get around. I would go back to this hotel and resort.
