" amazing "

Been to the hotel quite a few times now and will keep going as much as we can.found this hotel a few years ago by accident as a last minute booking. The hotel is very clean thanks to zac and georgio's fantastic mother (Maria).Who cleans the rooms and does the laundry changes
Zac one of the best cook's we have come across abroad can deliver some of the best tasting food you will probably ever taste and when he cook's in the wood oven ,WOW what a great taste of good home cooking !!!(CRETE cooking). This is just one of the great skills Zac has.He can be a great host, bar tender,A very energetic man as he tends the farm early in the morning to make sure everything is as fresh as possible from day to day (A Very hard worker)as well he looks after their animals, fresh produce on the farm, grapes ,olives, potatoes, artichokes, and if zac can grow it he will, ready for the season.
Georgio works as hard as Zac as Georgio does more to greet the guests no matter what time you arrive or leave, Georgio is always there to meet and greet in the early hours of the day ,at certain times you will get both brothers meeting you and it's certainly a very warm welcome what ever time you get there !
Georgio does the hotel bar, shopping for every day goods that is needed around the hotel,So everything is fresh day to day.If it's needed Georgio will sorce the best and go and get it .Being very skilled at sorcing the best produce for the job
Both brothers have a good alround knowledge of the area and can advise you of some of the fabulous places to visit
The area surrounding the hotel is being modernised all the time as new paths are being laid and lighting erected from amoudara to gazi and the work never gets in the way of a great holiday as they seem to be able to work on this modernization without too much disruption to the tourists (I think most work will be finished before next season as we were there a week and they got a lot of the pavement finished.)
A needed feature for tourist's and locals so it's safer and easier to walk to and from gazi to amoudara day time and night.
Amoudara is a beautiful place to shop, eat, drink as it has a lot to offer for the tourists
The beach is only 5 minutes away from the hotel and stretches for quite a long way ,water sports, beech bars and cafe's can be found along the stretch of the beech here.
GAZI.is another nice place to visit as the shops have a wide variety of goods to offer as well as cafe bars, super markets ,cake shops ,butchers, well basically everthing you want !!
AN ALROUND FABULOUS AREA TO BE.
Back to the hotel!
The Hotel is well situated in the area and has a great pool surrounded by garden, palm trees, pool bar,sun loungers.seating and eating area
OVERALL YOU COULDN'T WISH FOR A NICER PLACE
I will be back many times

" AMAZING "

we booked this holiday after reading the outstanding reviews on holiday watchdog.
the imperial hotel is an amazing place and you must go there.
we arrived at the imperial at 3am in the morning, as soon as we arrived Georgio was up and awake to greet us and show us to our room. the rooms are nice but basic so don't go expecting complete luxury. the studios are small but apparently the apartment is lovely sleeping up to 4 people. all the balcony's have lovely views of the mountains and some of the sea.
the food at the hotel is a must have especially when they cook in there clay oven which they do about 2-3 times a week. all of the food they use is mostly from there farm or surrounding farms in the area.
they also have a bar where somebody is always there to serve you.
the pool there is lovely but quite cold, it is open from 7am-7pm which is round about when the sun goes down.
Amoudara is a small town with many shops, restaurants, and little supermarkets but if you want to get around a bit more there's a regular bus to heraklion/iraklio for 1.30single. Heraklion is full of shops and has a big bus/coach station which is where we got the bus to Chania (3 hours away by coach).
You can also go to Georgio and Zacs home village of Gazi which is about a 5 minute walk away which is lovely and bakes the nicest cakes going.
The beach is a 5 minute walk away with lots of cafes backing onto it which each own some of the sunbeds. The sunbeds are usually free if you buy a drink at the cafe. There is also a pool on the beach which is nice but plays very loud music so for a quieter day on the beach I recommend walking further up.
The imperial hotel is a place i will definitely be returning to in the future.
Zac and Georgio make the stay amazing and there English is brilliant!!!
If you go to the imperial you will have an amazing time just like we did :)we booked this holiday after reading the outstanding reviews on holiday watchdog.

" An Oasis "

Booked these studios after reading holiday watchdog. I feel I have to give an up dated account of this amazing place. When you arrive at the Studios in the middle of the night, on a dusty road in what seems like the middle of nowhere, you would be forgiven for wondering what you were letting yourself in for. Do not dismay you are about to have the best holiday of your life. The owners georgio and zac are great hosts, and the food which is often from either the garden or their farm is the best you will taste. The studios are simple but clean and comfortable with mountain views and a taste of village life thrown in. Zac makes feta behind the bar area and the veg is to die for. Book in advance because they have lots of repeat business especially in the high season. The pool is in a palm fringed garden and is 10' at the deep end, there is also a kiddies pool.

Advice: a family resort, nice tavernas some tourist shops and 1.20 euro to heraklion on the bus

Activities: agia palagia, knossos, rhythmon, fodele, spilli and anywhere in the mountains

" HOME FROM HOME "

I have now been to the Imperial Hotel 10 times over the last nine years and the service offered by brothers Zak and Georgio and Maria (their mother) has been excellent. Zak cooks in a clay oven and Georgio runs the bar with a great zest - the atmosphere is always merry and welcoming. I would recommend the Hotel for its idealic setting, being close to the shops, tavernas and the beach, but most of all for the family run hospitality and friendliness to all.

Advice: Great family run Hotel warm, friendly and ideally located.

Activities: Maxims, Spinalonga (sightseeing)

Good for: Beach

" This is a family run hotel. I have... "

This is a family run hotel. I have been to this hotel for 7 years now.
Please see the web site why I like to go back each year.
The Hotel is run by two brothers George and Zac on arrival is a welcome drink. The rooms have shower room, small kitchen area, TV and air con paid locally.
There is a large and baby swimming pool, inside and outside bar. There is a bar menu and food cooked to order. In the evening Zac may cook in his wood oven if you like local food this is a meal not to miss. All food is grown locally either from thier farm or surrounding farms.
A 10 min walk is the Beach and Ammoudara town in the other direction up the hill is Village caled Gazi where George and his family live.
Along the strip in Ammoudara is shops, cafes, bars and Taverners.
You can catch the Bus in to Haraklion for 1 euro 30 (2008 price) and from there you can buy trips or get local bus to other parts of the Island.

" Fantastic!!!
We arrived at 0530... "

Fantastic!!!
We arrived at 0530 in the morning. Georgos was waiting, and he has been waiting all night. Information about landing time, had not reached him.
The hotel is very good. Nice rooms and a beautiful garden. The pool suits both adults and children. We had lot of fun playing in the pool with a shark, a lobster and two wheels. (all blow up toy)
The hotel cat ”crazcat”, was also entertaining us.
Zack made us two very nice meals. The Stifado was the best we ever have tasted, and the chicken was delicious. This was the 8. time I was I Greece, and the 5. time for my husband. We had the best time ever at Imperial. We felt like we was a part of the family.
We will come back, with or without children. :-)

" What can i say, its been three years... "

What can i say, its been three years since we have been to the impearial, and the warm welcome we got when we arrived, was as if we had,nt missed a year, the boys still look the same no older than when i last saw them, and maria still cleaning the rooms and making a very good job of it too, the garden wow how its grown, the palm tree,s are huge now, we have been comming to the impearial since 2000, and i would recomend this hotel with small children as a must, resort is friendly, bars and resturants, serve childrens menu's and are always very happy to please, the road from the hotel to the main strip of shops and resturants is being re tarmac,d and footpaths are being laid too, this road was very narrow and was used alot. so what can i say, this is a holiday to either chill out and relax , or go sight seeing, you can hire a car or bike for just a few euro,s and explore the island its beautifull and well worth looking around,
The food in the hotel is second to none, zac and george are both very good cooks, and can provide you with a fantastic meal, made in there wood oven,
Hope you enjoy your holiday, we always do.

" This is a family run self catering... "

This is a family run self catering studios, George Zak and mum make you feel very welcome. I have been going to this Hotel for 7 years now and will continue to return for years to come. The hotel is set in a sleepy resort of Amadoura with local bus links to the rest of the island. If you are looking for peace and quite this is the place to go and is very safe and freindly for small children, with local supermarkets to get all yor needs so no need to pack lots and lots.
Grorge and Zak have built a wood oven in the garden and on odd evenings they offer a cooked evening meal for a small price. The food cooked is all sorced from local farms.
During the day there is a bar menu which is cooked to order and most of the food is from thier farm or local farmers.
This is not a place if you are looking for active night music dancing ect though there is a DISCO in town but i have never seen anyone in there.

" We went to the studios on a family... "

We went to the studios on a family holiday, my mum and dad have been there several times and had nothing but good things to say about the place.

Zak and Georgio are the best. They made the holiday. They were very friendly and very accomodating. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is basic but clean and has everything you need. The Food, especially in the evening was out of this world!!!!! would recommend eating in at the studios (especially if Zak is cooking) instead of the nearby restaurants.

If you are looking for a fun holiday but relaxing with great company, you will not go wrong at the Imperial Studios. We will be going back as my girls loved the place and loved being there.

i think it may have been even longer than 05 but my son and his fiancee went in 06 on our recommendation and absolutely loved it - George & Zac are brilliant hosts I have been trying to find who is doing the apartments this year as we really want to go back - you could not wish to meet nicer people - my husband ran out of cigars and Zac went into the main shops and bought him some and would not accept payment for them - they really treat their guests like family i would recommend this place to anyone -you could not help but enjoy yourself, clean friendly and all you need a really great holiday - maybe i shouldnt tell people how good they might book then I wont be able too!! George hope you are still supporting Manchester City - HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL SOON

" I went thinking it would just be an... "

I went thinking it would just be an ordinary place at best but I was delighted to find a very warm welcome, a lovely pool, great hosts in fact the best holiday stay ever. I did n
not want to leave and if I could have booked again straight away I would!
I went away on my own but enjoyed eating out in Amoudara, going to Heraklion, Spinalonga where the leper colony was, Aghious Nikoli
us, where they filmed "The Lotus Eaters" years ago. I managed a very cheap bus ride into Chania to admire the Roman Architecture, an old Turkish bath which is now a very good restaurant, one of my favourites with live music some Sunday afternoons.
The shops in Chania are a must a street it seems for each commodity and a market hall for food, clothes, spices, leather goods well see for yourself before you go for refreshment down on the seafront where you'll be spoilt for choice and views.

I will return Janice Davies

" On your arrival you will meet George... "

On your arrival you will meet George and Zak!! 2 great guys who will take care of you well. We found this hotel through a last minute deal and we've been back a number of times since! We've even got my husbands parents addicted to the place, as they holiday there every year!!

It's a small, clean hotel. The pool is excellent and for the use of those staying at the imperial only.

They have a pool bar which sells snacks and light meals and good beer!!! Very good price!

The rooms are basic, but that's greece for you! Very clean and tidy, and the guys mum cleans each room daily.

I can promise if you just want a quiet holiday, next to the beach, with good taverna's this is the place to go. George and Zak will take good care of you and tell you a few tales!! Oww and their weekly bbq is worth a try.
