We arrived at the hotel and were initially rather shocked to have to carry our suitcases up many steps (85 to our room). The room was simple, but immaculately clean. The plumbing was typically Greek, although better than other hotels we've stayed at.
We had three family rooms as there were seven of us.
The food also was very simple, but tasty. Breakfast, simple, bread, eggs, jam, cheeses and ham. No fruit in the mornings which was sad. Evening Meal, Choice of starter, salads, different main starter each day, you could eat as much as you liked of this. The main course was small (by our standards) but delicious.
The pool was also small, but very clean and good to swim in. However, what really made the holiday fantastic for us was the Hotelier "George" and his family. They could not do enough for you. They made us feel so very very welcome and went out of their way to please us in every way. Nothing was too much trouble.
We had a child who suffers from Coeliac disease and thus needs a special diet. They cooked him a separate meal every day. The Owner was so attentive, and it was not just to us, he spent a little time with each family there, having a drink with this one or that, going out of his way to see that everyone was enjoying themselves.
We also very much enjoyed the beach at Ammoudara which was only a little walk down the road from the hotel. Lovely little shop, a restaurant and a kiosk where the guy was really helpful. This was, we thought, pretty much the best beach on the island, lovely shallow waters for a way, and sandy. A few bits for the kids to do (a trampoline thing "aqua orbit" on the sea, banana boat, rings etc, plus you could hire pedalos etc. All in all a brilliant holiday.
Thank you George and all your family for making it such a great time! I have given this review 8 out of 10 because to be fair, there were many steps and the pool wasn't so big.
We have been all over Europe and Egypt/Tunisia etc, and this is the best family holiday we've ever had we feel! Mainly because of the lovely people and the excellent service we had. Other people may disagree, but then if you had a "Novotel" or Hilton or similar then you wouldn't really get the true Greek Feel like we did!
