Lungomare Hotel

A great hotel and wonderful resort - we have booked to go back in 2007 and no doubt the kids will nag us to go again the following year!
A very friendly part of Italy, the owners and staff at the hotel couldn’t do enough to help us and they spoke great English too. The hotel was right on the beach with steps leading down from the huge pool area.
The owners renovated the hotel completely in 2006 and they tell me there is more to come over the next few years. The food is wonderful - they have a great airy restaurant overlooking the sea where there is the most fantastic buffet at every meal, but if you don’t want to have the buffet they will come and serve you at the table.
The hotel is right across the road from a busy shopping street which becomes pedestrianised every evening until midnight (yes, shops open till midnight!) great shopping some fab ice cream parlours and we even took a couple of nights off from the wonderful hotel food to check out the local restaurants.
One evening the hotel sent us to an Agritorismo in the hills (about 20kms away) - this was a farm style meal great antipasti - hams, salamis and cheeses, followed by homemade pastas and then a huge platter of grilled meat, washed down with their own wine and some great deserts, polished off with their home made liqueurs (Don’t drive else you won’t be able to taste these as they are very alcoholic but very nice!!!).
The whole lot came to an astounding €25 per head all inclusive! Also tried out some great fish restaurants in the port of the town - again beautiful shops.
The hotel has bicycles for all and seats for the younger kids - we enjoyed cycling around as a family something we can't (and never) do at home - it’s all very flat along the coast so it is definitely not arduous.
We also went to Mirabilandia theme park which was fantastic - some great water rides and some fab food too - not the usual prepacked hamburger but done with true Italian style (and of course some great ice creams!).
There was a water park just down the road from us and numerous large slides etc., on the beach.
The rooms in the hotel were spacious and clean, our cleaner was a lovely lady who was very amenable to our teenage son's sleeping habits! Everything was air conditioned (my husband loved that bit!) and all in all we had a great great time and it wasn’t expensive either - we flew with low cost airlines and the hotel offered us transfers.
August 2007 cannot come around soon enough as far as we are concerned!
