The trip there was so organised, simply travel rep waiting at Corfu airport with 2 taxis booked to take our party to the Port at Corfu.
Tickets ready for the hydrofoil over to Paxos. Waiting the other side at Gaios Port was the hire cars ready with a convoy to follow the route to the villa. No stress at all, all was perfectly organised.
On arrival the villa and view was superb. Large open plan living area and spacious kitchen. 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The pool was larger than average and had spectacular views of the sea and mountains.
The driveway to the villa was very steep but the cars were small and driving around the island was not at all stressful, well apart from the coast road from Gaois to Mongossi. A car is essential for getting to the 3 main villages Gaois, Lakka and Loggos.
Loads of outside space around the villa to sit and relax. If you enjoy lunch out at dinner time and evenings eating back at home then this holiday is ideal. Magazia is a walk away and very quiet in the month of May so we mostly ventured out in the day by car.
The villa is that nice that you appreciate coming home to it each afternoon and playing in the pool and catching the afternoon sun.
Gaois had loads of car parking down by the new port side and we would amble into town past the boats. The supermarket up the road (opposite the pink church in the main square) was the largest on the island and great for supplies. Has a butchers counter and the beef was very nice tasting.
Also liked Lakka for lunchtime meals. The beach bar sold tasty onion pies. Loggos has a nice walk at the back of the old factory up to the ruin windmills and has a road right on the sea front. Boats can be hired but we chickened out, maybe next year?
A boat ride to Anti-Paxos was great. It is a day on the beach when you get there. The 1st beach has two bars. Both bars offer free sunbeds and umbrellas. The BBQ fish at the 2nd bar was the best meal we had all holiday. Highly recommended. The boat ride just cost 7.5 euro return and get the fast boat back, as you get a fun ride ! The sea is crystal clear.
Paxos is a unspoilt island and is very laid back and relaxing. If you like beer, wine, brandy and book reading with a bit of sun bathing, it's perfect. If you like discos, crowds, water parks and Karaoke then this holiday will be far too boring.
The villa had fly screens on every window which was handy & take some Cd’s and DVD as the TV channels are all Greek (well I never). Simply travel supplied beach towels so don't over pack.
Only down side was leaving the island behind. Corfu airport coming back was a nightmare. Queues outside the airport, queues inside and a slow security system after having cases weighed.
Accommodation was 10/10. View was fabulous too.
