This will be our 3rd visit to the Mareva Apartments, we love the position of the Mareva, inbetween the main resort and the lovely old -fashioned villages up the hill. Best of both worlds. Yannis is brilliant are too all the staff there . The only thing i would say is that... more

just returned from a weeks stay at Mareva apartments already looked into booking again in October for two weeks.Friendly clean and relaxing.A good mixture of young people and families.Yiannis and his staff make you feel very welcome nothing is ever to much trouble,rooms are basic but clean would recommend to everyone.

Just returned from the Mareva appartments, and what an amazing time i had! The Mareva appartments were very clean and spacous, it was an excellent value for money, and one of my best holidays ever by far! Yiannis and his whole family were brilliant, they bent over backwards to make sure that we had everything we needed and more. They were just so friendly, and made the holiday what it was! would like to thank them and say hello especially to yiannis number one and yiannis number two! the appartments in themselves were in an excellent location, they were situated in the best place possible so the best of two could be had. for example down the hill there were many restuarants, bars, supermarkets etc this was much more lively, where places were open till 6am. if you went up the hill you could get the opportunity of a much more traditional experience, where it wasnt so loud and happening but was lovely for a nice quiet meal. the food by the way was yummy!!! and very cheap! :) we spent our daytimes at the appartments, relaxing round the pool, where we were able to go under the shaded area of the bar if it got a bit too hot (which it did believe me!!!), and we were also able to have some pool tournaments which were fun! to anyone who is staying in these appartnements i would recommend going to the sunday night bbq for just 15euros each, the food was lush and some great party games for entertainment!!!! :P ill say no more on that! if you stay in hersonissos, make sure you do a trip to the water park, it was fantastic. and if you were thinking of going malia, it is only 15euros in a taxi!! or get the bus from down the road for 1euro40! i would reccomend this holiday to anyone, just be preared for a small walk up the hill in the heat, however a small price to pay for such a great time...would love to return!!!!!! thank you yiannis and family........LARNA! xxx

I loved this place, I'd definately go back. There are three guys that work there that are all called Yiannis and they're all babes. Although it was pretty basic, it was clean and the people there were really friendly. Yiannis 2 give us lifts into Hersonissos before a night out there and were always helpful :). The place has nice views of the sea and the taxis into Malia are only about 15-20 euros and Malia is a really good night out. Apollo and Malibu woop woop woop :) Definately want to go back, i miss it already :( I love Yiannis!

The Mareva Apartments certainly lived up to the reviews I read before going there .First the positives !!.The location was excellent for access to the main strip& harbour area[down the hill] or a leisurely walk up the hill to the numerous tavernas As the previous reviews stated the rooms are basic and kept very clean.Yiannis and dad Manolis were very helpful along with the other staff.One of the maintenance guys even repaired my wifes sunglasses when the lense popped out as she was relaxing on the sunlounger !!.The poolside bar food was adequate and plenty of sunloungers for all although the complex wasn't very busy.Now for the negatives!!.The apartments were rather small with a miniscule bathroom, we were in room23 which overlooked the main road and at night there was a fair amount of noise from the Apartments opposite.However the negatives didn't detract from our overall enjoyment .As for Hersonissos itself we loved the place and the people!!!.Loads of restaurants around the harbour not only serving good food but with first class service as well.We did the day trip "Unknown Crete" which involved some winetasting and sampling some great food.This was our first experience of Crete and undoubtedly "We will be back!!!".

These apartments are amongst the best that we have ever stayed in. The rooms offer basic accommodation but are superbly clean and well maintained. There is maid service 7 days a week, although on Sundays they only empty the bins. The owner Yiannis or his father, Manolis, are always available and nothing is too much trouble. The pool area is excellent and there are plenty of free sun beds.There is also a well stocked pool-side bar which also serves snack type meals, but if you want a proper meal at night all you have to do is give Yiannis a couple of hours notice and one will be provided. The complex is situated about 400 metres from the main street in Hersonissos up a gently sloping road. Whilst the slope is not too steep it may be fairly taxing for anyone with walking difficulties. Overall The Mareva is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Our Home in Crete from daihara
We've just come back from our second visit to The Mareva this year. We were there in July and just had to go back as soon as we could. The area is fantastic, the scenery is fantastic, the food is fantastic, the weather is fantastic! Most of all Yiannis, Manolis their family and staff are fantastic, they really can't do enough for you. The apartments are basic but clean (very clean) and within easy reach of tradition or blaring on the go entertainment. It's like having a home and family in Crete. We're going back as soon as we can. Just arrived home after a wonderful holiday staying at the Mareva Apartments in Hersonissos. Its not often i return home without having a little grumble that something wasnt good but i cant. We arrived after a 12 hour delay so i thought i may be the start of a bad trip but i could'nt have been more wrong. Hersonissos is a great place with lots to offer for all ages. It has lots of bars, nightclubs and resturants but if you want expereince the really beautiful villages you can walk to them about 8 minutes from Mareva Apartments thats when you see Crete for all its beauty. I am well travelled but i was amazed when i visited these gorgeous villages. Def my favourite of the Greek Islands. The beaches in Hersonossis are not all that but Stalis is 10 mins away and has a nicer beach but resort not as nice to stay in. The Mareva Apartments are well managed by lovely Yanis who is always there to help. So all in all a great all round holiday for young and old we went in a group of four all different ages and it catered for all of us. We will all be returning next year. A++++ Forgot to say the food is great so be prepared to weigh a little heavier when you return home!! Rustico Restaurant has to be the best in the village.
Mareve Hotel: fantastic holiday from Jennib2007
Had a fantastic time at the Mareva Hotel!! I visited here with my boyfriend WE LOVED IT!!! Yiannis & Manolis... (the owners) are absolutly fantastic.. they can't do enough for you. They are so friendly, helpful & Funny! We had a BBQ night with them and they arranged games to play. If you like quite & peaceful holidays then you can always go up the hill to Koutalafari (old Hersonissos) there's some gorgoeus little restaurants up there with lot of very traditional looking buildings and a few shops. I'd reccommend the Chinese/Cantonese restaurant there called "Peking" the food is absolutley gorgeous! If you like the more lively areas then the bottom of the hill is best there's plenty of bars & restaurants and also the "Saloon Bar" The bar staff are very friendly again in particular "Simon" If you like a lot of alcohol then make friends with him, He'll have you drinking Cocktails & Shots all night long. All drinks BUY-ONE-GET-ONE-FREE too!!- Plus there's kareoke! If you enjoy watersports (banana boats etc) there is a beach called Star Beach about 10 mins walk away! Ask about it and somebody will point you in the right direction! Overall this is a great place to go to!!

We had a great holiday in Hersonissos staying at the Mareva apartments. Great location, good basic accomodation, very friendly owners, great weather, great nightlife! Yiannis was exceptionally friendly, made us feel very welcome. Hotel suitable for all, 5 min walk from town centre up a slight hill that was fine, not too strenuous. Hersonissos very busy, lively resort popular with Irish, English and Dutch. We did not venture into Malia as we had all the nightlife we needed here! Rooms very clean, basic cooking facilities and fridge. One small criticism was the lack of air conditioning, but you were able to rent a fan for 20 euros for the 2 weeks, rooms were hot but we got used to it after a couple of nights. Pool area very nice and clean although smaller than it appears in the photo, plenty of sunbeds and beaches just a short walk away. We had a brilliant holiday and would recommend this resort and this accomodation to anyone. Thanks for a great time!

Well what can i say!! im gutted to be back!! ive been to greece a few times and this tops it by far!! the person below has hit the nail on the head!! yannis and monolis where fantastic and made our holiday unforgettable!!! (i really wanted to take monolis home!! ha) personally i thought the rooms where very nice!! ive satyed in alot more basic hotels in greece but each to their own. the rooms where very clean and comfortable!! they had a snack bar on-site and the food was really nice however the BBQ was fantastic!! we paid 15 euros (a bargain for what you get) and it tasted fab!! The resort itself was really lively, not a patch on malia i have to say but thats really not a bad thing (i loved malia, just really ramed!!) i think this was more of a dutch resort but for us this was great!! we met some fab people!! the old town was up the road from the mareva and the restaurants there were fab. our favorite was pytharia (i think ive spellt it right!) they did the best mousaka ive ever tasted!!! and if you tell them you are staying at the mareva you get free pancakes with ice-cream!! really not good for your wasteline!! all-in-all this was an amaizing holiday and i WILL be returning next may!! i can't wait!!!

My cousin and I have just got back from Mareva Apartments. An excellent hotel with superb owners (Yiannis and Manolis - you are true legends!) The hotel is quite basic but extremely clean - the owners can not do enough for you! It is also in an ideal location for those who just want to relax, but also very close to Kouloutoufari - excellent restaurants and chilled out atmosphere and the main strip of Hersonissos - a very good nightlife if not quite Malia! I recommend this hotel to any one wants to stay in a clean friendly, self catering apartment. I will definitely be returning next year!
