Loved it, loved the staff... never go to Marmaris! Turkey is lovely, as are the people, the sites, the scenery and everything else. Love to Byron, John and Oluzjon???!!! Loved the Mellis Hill and Olu is so small it doesn't matter where you stay but you should stay here... it's like your local. I can't tell anyone how great Mellis Hill is, not posh but home.... if you want a 5 star holiday, book one, if you wanna chill on the cheap in a comfy place, stay here... it's always going to be better than being at home and probably cheaper xxx

after looking at the comments from last year from other people,we decided to book ourselves. From making the booking until the end of the holiday everything was brilliant. The booking was done very efficiently, staff were lovely and explained everything. The flight was also excellent although the turkish staff on board were very quiet, so they may appear unfriendly to some but it was probably the language barrier. The hotel was faultless in my eyes, but room was very basic, just the bed and of course the shower and loo but it was clean and the the bed had fresh sheets every day with fresh towels as well. The food at the hotel was first class, as is the family who run it.They take the time to speak to you they are just sooo lovely. The bar can be open quite late so not suitable if you are a regular early bird because the music can be loud. Overall the holiday was faultless and we met some lovely people there. The trips were well organised too. you must have a turkish bath it was brilliant. I absolutely loved this place and would without a doubt recommend it to anyone young, or old. However, it can be a bit of a treck if you are not too good on your feet, ie it is very dark on the way down to the village so suggest a taxi or the bus. We also did not see the wild boar, sob!! that would have been funny. The man in the mosque also prays a few times a day which we found a delight, some people may not... it felt like we really on our hols. I also had an excellent manicure best i ever had from a young girl in one of the salons (on the left of the main street next to an offlicence type shop), which i will be visiting again this year.
You will have a fab time so you gotta go. :-)

Stayed in the Mellis Hill hotel just outside Olu Deniz in September 2007 - lovely hotel, quite basic rooms but very nice pool and bar area and tasty food in the restaurant. Lovely walk down to Olu Deniz - a bit strenuous and takes about 20 minutes but quite do-able even in the dark (although a torch would come in handy). Didn't spot the fabled wild boar. Lots to do around this area and many great eating places in Olu Deniz itself. Highly recommended.

My boyfriend booked a Turkey Holiday for us in July 2007 as a surprise for me! It was fantastic!
We stayed in the Mellis Hill hotel. All staff were extremely friendly and the food was excellent. It was also very clean and quiet. With a nice sized room and bathroom and balcony looking down onto the town and sea. It was the most fantastic setting, set between the mountains.
It was also quiet at night compared to hotels in the town as the Mellis hill hotel is not very large. If you have seen any pictures you may have noticed the walk from the hotel to the beach. It’s really not that far! It probably takes about 5 minutes to get from the hotel to the town.
Walking down in the morning was nice but I do suggest that if you are going there in the summer months that a taxi would be better to get back up as the hill is quite steep and it is very, very hot. Around 50 degrees C when we visited!
The town is also very nice, fairly small and again all the shop and restaurant staff are very helpful and friendly. The tour guides are also very helpful if you are wanting to book up a day trip. There are many stands which you can visit in the town to book these up. The beach was gorgeous. I had never seen anything like it.
The Blue Lagoon was also very nice but quite crowded so if you want some space and peace and quiet then the best place would be on the main beach.
Overall a very, very enjoyable holiday and we would definitely go back again!

We stayed at Mellis Hill for one week. The apartments are very basic and would not be suitable for families, although we really enjoyed our stay, the rooms were clean and there was a maid service three times a week.
The breakfast was a traditional Turkish breakfast, although they do serve a English breakfast for a very reasonable price. The staff we very welcoming and helpful an made our holiday enjoyable, service with a smile always helps!
There was a relaxed atmosphere and entertainment was good. the only down side was it was in the middle off nowhere and I would advise a taxi ride into Olu Deniz as wild boars come out of a night.
The best thing was view, it was amazing. Overall we had a brill time and will be going back soon.

If you are looking for a holiday to remember, stay here!
Fairly new, the hotel retains a family, personal feel about it which is very special. They pride themselves on making their guests feel special. Nothing is too much trouble and the services they provide to their guests are carried out with efficiency and individual care.
5 minutes away from the main centre of Olu Deniz, the hotel has spectacular views and is a fabulous retreat just minutes away from the main hustle and bustle. You can walk, catch the dolmus (local minibus), or grab a taxi wherever you need to go. At night time there is a fabulous breeze which we welcomed after a day in the sun!
For a night out clubbing this hotel is the closest to Hisaronu which is about 5 min away on the dolmus. So the hotel has the best of both worlds being located between Olu Deniz and Hisaronu.
The rooms are clean and comfortable with everything you need including Air Con!
The restaurant serves delicious food ranging from English type cuisine to Traditional Turkish dishes if you want to sample the culture! We particularly enjoyed Turkish Stir Fry! All good prices too!
They also hold a traditional Turkish night which is not to be missed!
You won’t be disappointed if you stay here!

We have just returned from a fab holiday to the Mellis Hill. After reading reviews prior to going we were unsure, however there was no need.
The people in the hotel were great. Before we left I requested a room above the pool which was a good request as rooms below have not been refurbished and were very dated.
Room was big, bathroom fully tiled with a great shower, 1 thing only a wardrobe no drawers and few hangers, and I took pack of cheap hangers from Tesco this sorted problem.
Yes the 10 mins walk to the beach is interesting, goats, chickens, cows although not a problem during the day.
At night a 5 minute walk uphill to the main road and within 10 mins a dolmus will stop 2.5 lira (£1) down to town alternative a taxi 8 lira. Olu Deniz was lovely - for food I would recommend the Seahorse restaurant for evening and the Buzz bar for lunch. If you want something special the Oyster Restaurant by the pool.
While there we tried the paragliding - highly recommended- journey up was worse than the flight down we paid £55 - you could get cheaper if you want to haggle we didn't and thought we paid a fair price.
First trip to Turkey and definitely go back even to Mellis Hill, Selda and her team treat you well.

My second visit to Olu Deniz, first to the Mellis Hill Hotel (not to be confused with Mellis Beach, that's in town).
From the minute we arrived we fell in love with the place. The bedroom, vine covered terrace (where breakfast or meals were served), pool and bar all had spectacular sea views.
The pool was a good size and there were always sunbeds and umbrellas free. Being up in the hills away from town meant that most of the time there was a breeze, which was very welcome.
All of the staff from the cleaners to the owners were exceptionally friendly, especially Byron the barman, nothing was too much trouble.
If you are looking for an away from it all break, where it’s peaceful, but where you can access good restaurants, bars and great activities such as paragliding, scuba diving, jeep safari, boat and lots of other trips give it a try. We're definately planning on going back!

We have just got back from an absolutely fantastic week. A perfect place to completely chill out and feel totally comfortable and relaxed. We expected the accommodation to be pretty basic, however, the rooms were clean and had everything we needed (air con. nice bathroom and even a hair-dryer).
The staff were all lovely and couldn't do enough for us. The hotel only has around 40 rooms, therefore each guest was more or less waited on hand and foot and all of the staff had time for us and new everyone by name.
We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, the breakfast being traditional Turkish (fresh fruits, olives, bread and cheeses) although we rarely woke up in time.
The hotel is situated on the side of a hill, overlooking the town and the beautiful bay, about ten minutes walk from the beach. Although you can easily walk back up the hill, if your feeling fit, there is also a really good local mini bus service which runs at least every 5 minutes and for the extra lazy and when it's exceptionally hot there is also an excellent yellow cab service which costs £2.50. We mainly used the taxi and after the first day the driver knew us!!
In town there are ample good restaurants and bars catering for all tastes. They are all pretty good value - we never had a bad experience. At first the touts at the bars and restaurants seemed a bit pushy, but we soon got used to them. They were always really friendly and we never felt obliged to accept their invitations into their establishments.
Olu Deniz is a beautiful place and the Mellis Hill would be our first choice on our return. This was our first taste of Turkey and we can't wait to visit again!!!!!

Great 2/3star hotel with fantastic views all round. Rooms basic but clean. The best hotel shower I have used for some time! Nice bar with cool breezes at night. Music sometimes a bit loud to chill out to but was turned down when requested.
Bit of a drag at first going down the first part of the dirt track into town, but after a while we became used to it. It’s a small homely hotel so we met some fantastic people and the owners were very approachable and just could not do enough to make our stay very enjoyable.
Definately recommended and we look forward to coming again, same time next year.

The best holiday my father and I have ever had. The hotel staff took us in and made us a part of their family. Their hospitality was second to none. The hotel rooms are lovely, cleaned at least every other day. Stunning views from each room and nothing is too much trouble for the family who run the hotel. Restaurant boasts lovely traditional Turkish cuisine at good prices and also a Traditional Turkish Belly Dancing night, not to be missed! By far the best hotel in Olu Deniz. Would recommend to anybody! Thank you for a wonderful time. Can't wait to see you all very soon, Eve and Bernard Carr.

The accommodation was basic but clean & had everything we needed. Although most of the staff did not speak a lot of English, they were extremely friendly & helpful.
Flew with Onur air & the plane was clean & spacious but the staff hardly spoke any English at all. Booked a vegetarian meal for both ways of flight when booking holiday, but both there & back were told they did not have any.
Olu Deniz is lovely & the hotel, although about 10min walk to the beach, is a good location set back in the mountain with amazing views.
The walk could be challenging for older people or people with disabilities, but we had no problem with it. There were no children at all in the hotel, it is probably best suited to younger couples.
When eating out, check out Seahorse restaurant, right by the beach, & also the Pine Tree, Olive Grove & Lemon Tree, all slightly away from the seafront therefore prices better & food delicious. Would avoid Waterfront restaurant - food not particularly good.
Definitely go on a jeep safari if you can, but be prepared to get very wet! Would also book 12 island tour but with rep, as the boat was a lot smaller than with other tour operators on seafront. Also horse riding very fun.
Overall a fantastic holiday & would definitely recommend.

We were booked to stay for 2 weeks but on arrival we felt that we couldn’t possibly have stayed 1 night at the hotel.
On arrival we were taken to a room which was situated beneath the swimming pool- nothing like the pictures shown on the internet. Yes there was a great view of the resort and sea but we weren't prepared to walk 10 minutes down what can only be described as a dirt track to get to it. There simply was no road or path with any lights.
If you like snakes, large dogs, dusty shoes and carrying a torch around with you on your holidays then this is the place for you. Maybe this is the one thing when you’re camping on the hills of Sheffield! but not on your holiday!
The rooms were basic to say the least with 1 plug socket hanging out of the wall and not enough room to swing a cat. We don’t go on holiday to sit in the room but at the same time we expected more than a rabbit hutch with a toilet (which by the way was half way into the shower) if that’s the kind of thing you’re used to back home then I guess this is paradise!
I must add that the owner and his wife were really helpful and couldn’t do enough for us when we complained, even to the point where he drove us to another hotel, where we stayed for what was a wonderful 2 weeks .

You will never find a more beautiful place than Olu Deniz.
The scenery, the people, the accommodation cannot be faulted.
We stayed at a perfect hotel called Mellis Hill Hotel. The hotel was situated half way up the hill so the view from your balcony was perfect. It was a little bit of a walk into the centre of Olu Deniz but was very enjoyable walking through the fields, passed the local mosque.
We always got a taxi back to the hotel, which was very cheap.
The rooms were very very clean and tidy. The room included a bathroom with shower cubicle and power shower and double bed and wardrobe, plenty big enough for two. The balcony was a perfect size to sit out on. The hotel had a superb swimming pool with pool side bar which served great priced drinks and meals.
The food in Olu Deniz is great, so many restaurants to chose from, you are spoilt for choice. We found a perfect restaurant on the main street of Olu called Sultan Pepper, opposite "The Real Fake Factory". We liked it so much we ate there every night. The staff were absolutely superb and I would recommend it to anyone.
If you are thinking of visiting Olu Deniz, please try Mellis Hill Hotel, you will not be disappointed and please eat at Sultan Pepper, ask to see the Restaurant Manager Charlie or the head waiter Rich or one of the waiters Ali and I promise they will look after you and make sure you have a great time. They are the nicest people you will ever meet.
Olu Deniz - perfect Holiday, perfect weather, perfect scenery, perfect people, and perfect food - you cannot go wrong.

Hotel is really nice. Rooms are basic but very clean! Views from all the rooms are great as the all face the same way. Pool is nice.
Its nice being on the hill because you get the breeze, where as in the town I think it would be too hot. Staff are all great and we were well looked after! They booked all our trips for us and got them fairly cheap.
Downsides were you had to walk down a dirt track to the town centre. Takes about 10 15 mins. It’s not that bad but when your drunk climbing the hill on the way back up can be fun. They tell you not to do it in the dark because of the wild boars.
Taxis are cheap apparently but I walked up in the dark with a bottle of tonic as a weapon and I lived to tell the tale!
We ate out every night, as the food in the hotel wasn’t that great. Didn’t bother us too much. We met some really great people and the week was brilliant.
Would go again!
