Mar a Vista

Just returned from mar a vista and iv got to say it was a bit grim!! it may be a 10 min walk to the centre but nowhere did it mention the hills on the way back...25 mins at least! maid service was a bit lacking to say the least,we watched the fluff under the table grow,and it was still there when we left 10 days later! also our beds were not made once nor our sheets changed,the staff at reception did not speak to me at all,if you wanted a drink at the bar you had to wait until he finished what he was doing at the desk......fair enough!... more

It's a medium size cosy hotel situated in a very good position. Rooms cleaned and good level of cleanness. Though it's not a modern building, it has all the services and facilities you need when on holiday. If you are lucky, you may get a room with a sea view: a wonderful see view!!! The added value: the staff!Very professional and helpful guys, always available to provide all kind of infos, anytime. Good impression when we arrived, friendly receptionist and small welcoming lobby, but the room we were given was dark and cold, 2 floors bellow reception, had to switch the lights on at 11am! We asked for another room and were quickly given one on the 4th floor in much better condition, with no trouble at all. If you are planning to go to Mar a Vista, ask for a room on the 3rd to 5th floor and facing the sea. Breakfast was good; it consisted of cereal, bread, ham, cheese, jams, milk, coffee, juices. We stayed at this hotel in August 2007. It looked nothing like it did in the photos. It was so basic it looked like the furniture was second hand. The reception staff were helpful but a member of staff was very rude and argumentative in the buffet area. The rest of the staff were helpful. The views are good but the walk back to the hotel is a killer and certainly not recommended for anyone mature. Residencial Mar a Vista is a basic but clean hotel, you get fresh towels every day and we found the maids and reception to be very good. The walk back up hill from the beach is a killer but it helped us walk off our meals! A taxi back up the hill is about 3 euros. The only downside is that they didn't offer a courtesy room on the last day of departure.

Have just returned from staying a week at the Mar a Vista, Albufeira. It is a smallish hotel, quite basic, but when you open the verandah doors, the views are absolutely breathtaking. As I say the hotel itself is basic, but spotlessly clean, the cleaners come in every day with clean towels, and they make up your bed. The breakfast is basic continental breakfast, but you can help yourself to as much or as little of it as you want. Now to the staff, the guys on reception are lovely, very friendly and helpful.
