Not as bad as they say!
from Clare-C
We booked this as a last minute deal as a group of 6 (3 couples). I read the reviews on this page about this hotel just before leaving and I have to say that they do seem abit unfair. We arrived at about 10.30pm and were wisked through check-in and our all inclusive card photos and the reception staff were lovely and friendly. The snack bar was just about still open but we never actually managed to get in there. The rooms are quite small but I've stayed in much much smaller places! The bar was packed when we got down there..and all the other holiday-makers were very friendly. I had read review after review warning of the dreadful food here and wasn't looking forward to sampling breakfast the following morning..I'm glad that I kept an open mind because it was absolutley fine. Not exactly exciting or Gordon Ramsey standards but perfectly edible. They didn't seem to put too much thought in what they were putting out..It was abit like they looked in the cupboard to see what they had left but again..nothing to really complain about. The one thing that did mar the weekend was the trouble in the hotel. A couple of holiday-makers had taken advantage abit too much of the free bar and caused some problems. One man tried to fight the bar men and 2 lads in the room opposite us woke the entire floor at 3.30am by having a punch up and throwing tables at eachother. Not very funny. But hardly the Hotel's fault . I would say that despite what they advertise this hotel as, it most certainly ISN'T a family hotel, but don't be too scared by what you've read before. It really isn't that bad at all.

If u are booked in to this hotel beware espicially if you are taking children .the food is only cold pork and potatoes and the salad is not nice . the rooms are like prison cells no view from any veranda .the paddling pool area is so small you can`t swing a cat round and its also in the shade all day so its cold. the bar area is also small and after about 8pm you cant move for the lager louts ,the beer wasn`t too bad but the soft drinks are all cheap and nasty non branded. there is a bar on the rooftop terrace but again its not very big or child friendly and is full of swearing lager louts(we now know why the british have such a bad name abroad). take ear plugs so you can sleep without hearing the shouting, swearing and fighting in the hotel corridors.the staff were very nice and we feel sorry that they have to work under those conditions. we were origionally booked in at the casino royal but were moved due to it being closed but from what weve heard all the hotels in the chain are as bad so DONT BOOK.
Stay away!

I and my boyfriend travelled to the Alexis in September 2006 and this was a really disappointing break. The hotel itself was very small and the people who were staying there were awful. The food was very limited and on our second night my boyfriend picked up some chicken which actually had blood in it! The police were called to the hotel on a number of occasions and someone was mugged right next to our hotel. The hotel was clean however the room was very old fashioned and very very cold! The weather while were there wasn't great and the hotel didn't make any effort to entertain the guests. One young lad who can't have been anymore than 17 was there and he drank that much that he fell down a flight of stairs and ended up passed out and in hospital. The hotel did nothing to help him and they carried on serving him their house vodka!! I would not recommend the Alexis to anyone young or old!
Absolutely Terrible!!!!

My partner and I took our Grandson for a break in Lloret De Mar. We booked the Casino Royal but were told it was closed and we had been booked into the Alexis instead. The room we were given had no beds made, and one of the beds was on top of the other. My partner went to the reception to see if we could have another room. We were given a room on the 4th floor. There was no entertainment at all in the hotel. There were no tea or coffee making facilities. There were vending machines, but all of these were empty. You could not get a drink of tea, coffee or even water after the bar had closed in the evening, until 8am when the dining room opened. The food was not hot, but a microwave was available so you could re-heat your choice of food. We were All Inclusive but ate most of our meals in the town. We awoke the next morning to find ants everyewhere. They were in the bathroom, all over the rim of the toilet and bidet, but they had also strayed into the bedroom and were even in the beds. I complained at the reception and they said they would sort it, which they did. The cleaner sprayed the room with insecticide, and then gave me the tin....to spray as necessary! We stayed in the bar area the next night, playing pool, as our Grandson was on his first holiday and seemed to be enjoying just being somewhere different. It was pouring down with rain outside so we didn't venture into the town. We decided at 10.30pm we would go to bed. When we opened the room door, there was water everywhere! The rain was pouring through the ceiling, onto the beds, and on the floor. My partner went down to the reception to complain and we were given yet another room. We still had to pack all our clothing late at night. By this time our Grandson was asleep and oblivious to all the commotion. The next morning we asked to be transferred to another hotel, which was duly granted. We checked into the Royal Beach which cost us another 40euros. We are not at all pleased with the HTop hotel group and will not be returning. Please do not stay at this hotel. You will only regret it.
Hated this Hotel!

Awful Awful Awful. This was the worst holiday I have ever been on. I booked this as a treat for me and my boyfriend and we were so disappointed. We dropped off at all the other H Top hotels which looked lovely and then we arrived at the Alexis! We had to wait 45 minutes to check in (this was 11.30pm) as they had overbooked 30 guys from Liverpool who weren't very happy!! We got to the room and there were 4 single beds in the room! One was blocking the wardrobe so we couldn't get to it unless we moved the bed and the other was across the wall where the dressing table and TV should have been standing. We moved the bed and opened the wardrobe and it absolutley stank as it was damp. We then had to pile our clothes on to a bedside cabinet as there was nowhere else to put our clothes. We had one bed taken away the next day but were still left with 3 beds. There was an air vent in the bathroom which led straight down to the bar, and so the noise in the bathroom and the bedroom was absoultely horrendous...you might aswell have been standing in the bar! the heating didn't work so the room was always freezing. The food was okay if ypu're a meat eater and you also liked chips, but for a vegetarian, it was awful. They had a microwave in the dinner hall so that you could heat up your own dinner once you had served it up!! The staff were incredibley rude. They would stand chatting and wouldn't serve you until they felt like it and then they never smiled or chatted or were even polite and they would literally throw your all inclusive card back at you! however, the young barmen would behave very differently if you were a young female up at the bar on your own. lloret de mar itself is very nice but if you are going here...please do not stay at this hotel as its awful.

we had been married for just 2 days when we came to this hotel surposedly for 2 weeks of lazing by the pool with a drink in our hands if you could find the pool that is! if your 4 years old and enjoy a paddle this is perfect for you, the pool was a circle of 5 meters across and half a meter deep not the pool they show in the pictures on the net!! the food was the same every night chips with every meal to get a decent meal we had to book with one of the other hotels in the chain, which admittedly were 1000 times better than the alexis. Some of the staff were friendly enough some were only friendly if your face fitted!! as for our room it was moped every day but was never swept the dust under the beds was disgusting the hotel ran out of water whilst we were there so tough luck if you were in the bathroom at the time and as for repairs well thats a joke, we also had money stolen from our room we would NEVER in a million years recommend this hotel to anyone not even to our worst enemys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Worst hotel ever...
from Henparty2006
The Alexis hotel is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I went with 5 other girls for a hen party, all inclusive. The food was inedible and the same every day. The 'snack bar' was none existant - left-overs from breakfast, lunch and dinner kept warm. The room was small and basic but generally clean. The view from the balcony was of a derelict hotel next door. The whole hotel smelt of damp and many people were ill with coughs and colds including myself and two of the other girls I went with. The pools were tiny and the jacuzzis were cold. The bar was tatty and there were two fights in four days. One of our rooms (which was on the third floor) flooded during a storm and the staff were unhelpful, ignorant and hardly spoke any english. The resort itself is great and the beach is very clean. The only positive aspect to the holiday was the very generous mesures of alcohol served from 10am to 12 midnight ! However, this meant that everyone was a bit worse for were most of the time. There were no facilities for the children there who seemed to get bored easily. The entertainment at the hotel was poor. The four star H Top hotels we went to were superb and I recommend anyone going to the Alexis to book themselves into the other hotels each day. Rumour has it that the Alexis is being demolished at the end of the 2006 season - I say; GOOD RIDDANCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great for Stag and Hen Parties but no good for middle age or families

This hotel is simply not 3 star more like 1 or 2 star maximum. the hotel was clean and the staff ok. Food was quite good most days there was always something you can eat. However be aware that this hotel is on a steep incline which is not shown on the hotel's website and is difficult to navigate if you are inform or have a disability. I walk with sticks and found it quite painful to get out and around from the hotel. However after 3 days we found an L2 bus which stops at the end of the road to the hotel and takes you to Lloret Centre and Fenals for 95 cents and this bus runs every 15 minutes which was a godsend. The hotel group also run their own shuttle bus which if you pre-book the day before you can go to visit their sister hotels (of which there is nine all of which are better than this hotel. Beware though if you ask to be moved they will charge you a minimum of 12 euros per person per night supplement. . This was our first all inclusive holiday and we were quite impressed even though we felt we have booked in at fawlty towers. The pool at the Alexis is a joke more like a fishpond than a swimming poool and it does not get any sun. the roof top jaccuzies and the roof top bar is great and there are plenty of sub beds. However, this is a very very noisy hotel. Flights come in daily and most are late arrivals. Watch out for the room nos 109, 110 and 111 as these are on the first floor over the bar and you can hear everything. We did not get much sleep for the 10 days we were there. They offered to move us to 3rd floor to a room which overlooked a brick wall and a derelict hotel. You have been warned. Unless you intend to go just to party all the time and make a lot of noise then please book an alternative hotel. The location of the hotel was quite good in that it was near to the beach but as stated above you have to navigate a steep hill which gets a bit wearing after a few days.
great for couples and other adult parties

I have just returned tonight from a week at the Alexis. i cant beleive that the previous reviewers called this hotel filthy it was in fact spotless and so was the bed linen . The cleaners disinfected the floor every day in the rooms, it is certainly the nicest 3 star i have been in .my party enjoyed the food. there was meat and veg ,pasta and salads everyday and lovely seafood dishes. the staff were the most friendly and welcoming of all places i have been to and that includes 5 star hotels. the hotel is very small compared to some. the only faults i could say with this hotel was the lack of a proper swimming pool area so i dont think this is a holiday hotel for young families but for a relaxing break with an adult party i couldnt fault it. if you are all inc there is a special offer to medieval night at a castle and flamenco at the gran palace both shows only cost a total of 20 euros and they were both a good night out. the hotel doesnt have the best of views in any of their rooms but most of the hotels dont unless you have a beachfront hotel. i would recommend the alexis to anyone wanting a relaxing place to stay.

This has definitely got to be the worse holiday of our lifes. We only stayed for 1 night and then got transfered to another H top hotel, Gran Casino Royal. My shed at home is cleaner than any of these, they reminded me of residential, old peoples home as they stunk.

The title of my review says it all really. I normally make the most of the holiday if the hotel is bad and work around it but not this one, it was horrible! The hotel was full of Germans, not that I'm being rude and saying it's a bad thing but they were groups of young rude... more
