Friends of mine booked the holiday, wouldn't tell me where in case I read any reviews.Admittedly had I done so,then I most definately would have worried about the holiday.Eventually they said Lloret de Mar but not the hotel. They had read some reviews after booking. We went with open minds,4 adults aged 50-60.What did we find? Hotel from hell? NO....A hotel that was clean, rooms clean,Beds made every day, bathroom cleaned and fresh towels every day.
Rude staff? NO....Reception was staffed 24 hrs.with a friendly greeting when we arrived, helpful with any queries regarding where to visit and how to get there. Bar staff also friendly and cheerful as were the restaurant staff. Maybe it was because we treated them as human beings and not as something on the sole of my shoes.
Food awful? NO....We found ourselves going back to the selfservice buffet because we couldn't decide what NOT to eat,it was all so nice, always a large selection of hot and cold food and well displayed.
How about the other comments made?? Pool, small at the side of the hotel, not very good but if you want to swim...go to one of the sister hotels or beach.
Noisy at night?? yes, why? hotel guests themselves not being very considerate.Probably some of these very guests are the ones who write reviews complaining.Guests getting drunk and swearing at anyone who asked them to tone it down a bit, there was one guest while I was there who got so drunk he messed his trousers leaving a trail to his room, stripped off his clothes and smashed a door into another guests room exposing his not very nice body in front of a 16 year old girl......is this the fault of the staff?? of course not.
Thin walls?? well, yes.but if GUESTS wre more considerate then that wouldn't be too much of a problem.
Lloret de mar as a holiday resort........Fantastic,good beach, good views and friendly people. We dont do nightclubs so can't comment. The resort is more 18/30 but still good for 30/70 plus and young families.
Answer to original question....Was it what I expected? NO..It was better.
Would I go back....Yes
Would I stay at Hotel Alexis??....Most definately..YES.

Our hotel was allocated on arrival on an All Inclusive basis. When we found out where we had been allocated, I remembered some of the reviews, which were not complimentary. We got dropped off at the end of the road. First impressions of the hotel were not good, however worse was to follow. Having checked in, we went to our room. There were 4 of us sharing, 2 adults and 2 children. We opened the room door and were gobsmacked. To say the room was basic and small are understating the facts. 4 single beds in the middle of the floor with a derelict hotel to the rear of our room was what faced us. Once we got over the shock, we decided to use the room only as a place to sleep. The rooms were kept clean altough it was the same bed linen put on the beds each day. The meals were ok. There was always a choice. The snacks were boring however. Always hot dog sausages, burgers, chips or salad/fruit. The staff were friendly enough. There was a small pool and 2 jacuzzis on the roof of the hotel as well as a pool at the side of the dining room. The entertainment at night was ok. The actual location of the hotel was excellent. We had a good value for money All Inclusive holiday which was actually better than what we thought it may have been. The hotel was noisy late at night as there were lots of younger people staying there. If it`s somewhere you want as a base, then it`s fine. If you want somewhere more comfortable, forget it. The beds weren`t comfy. The rear views we couldn`t do anything about but it didn`t put us off.

When we arrived at the hotel, i did have to wonder what we had let ourselves in for, especially when the receptionist wasnt too helpful!
We got to our rooms and it was basic, but it didnt really matter as there was all you needed in the room. The batroom was questionable with the wooden panel allowing you to see and hear the next doors bathroom, but we just put a towel up!
Overall with the accommodation, it aint the ritz but it does the job!!
The restaurant wasnt the best but it did have a variety of food which i never found cold. Even if it was, there is a microwave to heat food up in so i do not see what people are complaining about!!!
The bar was maybe a bit old and dated but we always had a good time in it!! There is a smoking and non-smoking section so you can breath fresh air!!! The drinks were all local which was not a problem as they all tasted fine! The bar staff could not have been nicer, i found them all really friendly!! The only thing i would say is that if you havent finished your drinks by 12:30 then keep hold of them or take them to your room!!
I never used the main pool as it was in the shade but did go to the roof a lot to catch the sun!!!
LLoret de mar in general was really good, lots of shops and the nightlife was brilliant with good offers!!!
Overall, even though i did find myself complaining about this hotel, i would go back because its what you make it that counts. We met loads of really nice people and they helped make the holiday!!!
I would go back to this hotel and would reccommend to young couples or singles looking for a good time!!!

I went with two of my girlie friends looking for a three day party holiday, after reading the reviews we were a bit apprehensive about the hotel but we found that although it wasnt an amazing hotel it met all of our requirments.
After a long bus journey we arrived at the hotel the reception staff seemed friendly, got our AI cards went straight to the bar and got some drinks before the bar shut at 12pm, went and got ready and then set off to the clubs, which were within short walking distance from the hotel, and the beach was even closer.
The beach was lovely although a bit rough.
The hotel was clean, the rooms were basic, beds and a bathroom and that was pretty much it but we got a huge balcony and for the kind of holiday we were on it didnt really matter to us.
The food was ok, lunch and dinner time food was similar but overall tasted nice and didnt make us ill!!!
The only major fault with the hotel was at the end of our stay we had a bit of trouble contacting our transfer company to arrange our transfers and the staff weren't very helpful.. but overall the hotel was what we expected on our tight budget.
The clubs dont compare to ibiza or malia etc. but are enjoyable :)
We didnt go to the pool because there was no where to relax around the side, on the roof terrace there were a range of smaller pools, went up there once and it was packed so we went to the beach which we preferred to do anyway.
Not recommended for older people or families, but definately recommend it to younger groups of people looking for a good time .

Accommodation was extremely basic but you expect this for the price.
Food - Vile & always cold - had to go out to eat every night.
Alcohol - Good
Also you a guarenteed a fight EVERY night.
If you dont smoke then take your own gas mask.
Staff not great - didn't see one smile between them the whole time I was there.
This hotel is sooooooo noisy its unbelievable and you can also talk to your neighbours as there is a wooden cupboard thing in the bathroom which is strange???
I would advise that you look elsewhere for accommodation - TRUST ME!

I took my son to Spain during the spring half term. It was his first visit to Spain and we were looking forward to a well earned break. Upon arriving we noticed an enormous number of school children who took over the entire hotel. The reception of the hotel was acceptable, but we were bitterly disappointed at the accommodation. The twin room contained very dated furniture that looked as though they had been reclaimed from a skip. The lighting in the room was very poor and the bedding also looked like it had seen better days. There was an awful smell in the air that aggravated my son's asthmas and I ended up having to rush him for treatment to a local doctor. Meals were palatable, however when I sent my son up to get a glass of water to take his medication we were refused because we were not fully inclusive guests. The restaurant staff were not only rude but very aggressive when I challenged them about the water issue. I have to say that this was the worst holiday I have had in my life and it has put me off holidaying in Spain any time in the future. I hope if you read this review you take the points I have made seriously as I would not like to think that Hotel Alexis would make anyone else's stay in Spain as unenjoyable.

It was pretty much as I expected from other reviews – a small urban hotel that was in need of refurbishment. Having said that, it was kept very clean. The rooms are all pretty much the same as far as décor and furniture goes but the location within the hotel makes a drastic difference. Those at the back of the hotel will have balconies facing a boarded up hotel or the other wing of the hotel. Those at the front over the street are much better – in fact 116 had a huge corner balcony and a sea view (one of 3 rooms in the hotel that have). Slightly noisy given that you are over the street and there is no double glazing. Had quiet neighbours in the next room and it was on the corner so no problems with the thin walls.
The Alexis is set on the corner of a reasonably busy road, on a moderate hill, at the quieter northern end of Lloret. Main shopping areas about 10 mins walk and the bars and clubs 15 mins away. L2 circular bus stops opposite the hotel and you can go anywhere in Lloret for 1.15Euro.
One bar on the roof and one bar downstairs. Only one open at any given time. To access the roof bar you can use the lift to 4th floor then 2 flights of stairs to the roof. Main bar has no natural light so a bit gloomy and can get a bit smoky even though there is a smokers area, it is within the bar. ‘Main’ pool – very small and shaded, no room for tables and chairs around it. On the roof there are two Jacuzzis and a kids pool that’s maybe 18” deep and 12ft across – Ok for cooling off. Around 50 sun beds on the roof with a few tables and chairs as well.
It wasn’t Haute Cuisine but none of us went hungry. Variety of dishes for lunch and Dinner that changed daily – not repeated within our week stay. This is Spain – wish they would stick to Spanish food rather than attempt to make dishes for other nationalities! Food could be a bit cold – there is not a good turnover of food after the first 30 odd minutes. Not a Chicken Nugget or Fish Finger to be seen.
No food allowed out of the dining room at any time (unless you were very sneaky)
Drinks served in half pint plastic containers that were not too bad. Estrella was the beer and all the spirits were local brands, which were fine. Certainly not watered down! Local versions of coke etc. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate from machines available all day. One family was found to be giving AI drinks to non AI guests and had their cards taken off them after shouting at the staff. Stick to the rules and there wouldn’t be a problem.
Staff – The majority were friendly and helpful with the odd exception. Compared to the other hotels we visited, the Alexis is very small so after a couple of days they knew your name and your drink :o) This also means there are virtually no queues for drinks, even at 11.45pm for the last orders rush.
You can visit other hotels for drinks and snacks anytime up to 7pm (with the exception of the Amaika in Calella). You must pre book lunch and transport to the other hotels at reception We found some of the other hotels very busy and sun beds (in the sun) hard to find – we tended to head back to the Alexis roof where sun was guaranteed (without clouds) and the bar was quiet and very close!
Entertainment is virtually non existent – without a decent pool – kids are going to get bored. We tended to have a walk after Dinner then sit outside the hotel chatting to other guests and taking advantage of the AI bar.
In Summary – Small and friendly. Clean but in need of refurbishment. Lack of entertainment. Quiet location. Need to get a good room. Simple food. Would go back.

After booking the holiday for my boyfriend(19) and I (17), i decided to read reviews on the hotel. I had read some awful reviews so we decided to go with an open mind. As my boyfriend and I were on a tight budget we didn't have any high expectations of the hotel and just expected a simple relaxing break. After spending a long amount of time on the coach (which actually makes you dizzy due to the fact the road seems like you're on one long S figure) we finally arrived.
As we reached reception we found a large container with some sort of liquid pouring out onto the street by one of the Alexis staff. Quickly greeted by the member of staff he picked our cases over the path and clear of the liquid... straight away my mind flicked back to the reviews on this site and i thought it wasn't going to be as bad as it was made out. As we stepped into the reception to check in a sudden burst of cigarette smoke and heat hit us-it was actually cooler outside!!! We checked in and then went to the rooms via the lift however as you stepped onto the lift it actually felt like it was going to fall! On arrival to the room all we wanted to do was to go to sleep as we hadnt slept for over 24 hours, so we tried switching the air con on to find it was not working. After informing the reception staff (who were fantastic) straight away he came back up to our room with us to see if there was anything he could do but with no luck. The next day we reported our air con 6 times and we were constantly being told the same thing "the whole hotel is broken, maintenance are coming to fix it." After 2 days our air con had been fixed however we were not aware as when you walked into the room it was still the same temperature. Once again we complained to reception who came out and stood on a chair and put his hand on the vent and claimed that it was the air con working :|
We asked if we could have another room and were only offered one when my mum phoned the hotel direct and complained.
This hotel is a complete disgrace and does not deserve the 3 stars it has! It needs completly refurbished or shutting down! The hotel drawers when opened had little tiny black bugs in the corners and mould. The air con is absolutly rubbish and the lift stopped working while we were there. When fixed you had to get in the lift press the number of the floor open the doors get out, get back in and then press the floor again and then it would work! The food was not cooked and freezing cold shared by the numerous amount of flies which flew onto the plate when you put food on it, my boyfriend and I also had slight foodpoisoning. The hill in which it is situated is not bad if you take it slow and the beach is only 5 mins down the road however it is very coarse- full of pebbles infact there is no sand and i ended up cutting all of my feet open.
After 2 days my mum reported the hotel to the tour operator and we were upgraded to the H.Top Royal Star. If you have the choice... DON'T go to this hotel, i wouldnt put an animal in it, however i would highly recommend the Royal star.

When we found out the name of our hotel i searched and found this site where the reviews terrified me! I actually cried dreading what we'd let ourselves in for.
I'm guessing there wil be a few people doing the same thing reading these. So i must say DO NOT DESPAIR i loved it!!! the only thing that made me angry was thinking back to these reviews!
Firstly location - after reading that it was in the middle of a concrete jungle i was expecting the worst, but really it was lovely. I really dont understand why people moaned!? Some of the other hotels the transfer dropped of at were horrible in comparison!
The food was lovely, i had something different every afternoon and evening, and never once did i have chips, so to the people on here who only had chip butties every evening - What the hell! why didnt you have a salad sandwhich instead!? I overheard some people moaning about the food whilst there, but the sentence was finished with "i havent eaten salad for 15yrs so i'm not going to start now, the only decent place to eat around here is macdonalds" If you think like that then this hotel, or indeed anywhere abroad is not for you!
Drinks were all good, and very generously poured! (i think i'm still recovering) You could help yourself to tea and coffee all day every day and there was enough variety in what was offered to keep everyone happy (well you'd think!)
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The pool, well yes the kids pool on the roof was small, but what do you expect on a roof!? And it was perfect for kids. if you're that fussed then roll down the road to the beach, which really isnt that far away. Yes there's a hill but its not mount everest! Everything is close by, the beach is lovely and really really clean! There are more shops then you could think possible, and every morning you saw them all moping the pavement, thats how clean it is there!
The hotel was clean and the air con made it comfortable. Plenty of room to sunbathe on the roof (although you need to avoid the seagulls at lunchtime). The downstairs pool was a fair size, but again the beach is down the road if you really want to swim. The roof also had two jacuzzis which were lovely and clean and working the whole time we were there. They had a nice view to stare at too while you lazed away the hours.
It probably wasnt the best place for kids, i doubt i would have taken mine there, but the kids that were there seemed to have a good time, and the hotel staff were fantastic with them.
I cant really judge the entertainment because we were out most evenings, there's a lovely walk around the coast line with stunning views, i'd highly recommend doing that at some point, although not recommended for people who have trouble with steps!
I really couldnt fault the whole thing, so please if you read this before you go and feel a bit down because of the reviews then cheer up. It really isn't that bad! I'd go there again any day!

When we booked this holiday (2 19 year old girls) at the last minute, all we asked for was sun, sand and fun. And we got exactly that and sooo much more! The staff were lovely, the food was absolutely gorgeous and we didn't pay for a thing in the hotel (when it says all inclusive it means aaall inclusive). The hotel was situated right near a buzzing town full of chatty and fun people. The other guests at the hotel were from all backgrounds and ages and they all loved it too. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and I'm dying to go back! At these prices, I don't know what the people who have complained were expecting. We loved it:)

The title of my review says it all really. I normally make the most of the holiday if the hotel is bad and work around it but not this one, it was horrible! The hotel was full of Germans, not that I'm being rude and saying it's a bad thing but they were groups of young rude and loud Germans. We only met a few other people who were British the rest were Germans. we had the unfortunate time of visiting when the Euro cup was going on and when Spain won, naturally the Germans were angry but Spain celebrated until about 3 o'clock in the morning, beeping horns, whistles and other various ways. Now on to the hotel, the room was small, a little clean but not to a good enough standard. The bathroom was horrible, there was a vent in the bathroom which was directly opposite the room next doors bathroom and their vent in which you could almost see into their bathroom. On our first morning there we realised we were next door to a group of Spanish men in their 30s who when heard us in the bathroom shouted "hola" to us through the vent when we replied with "hola" back they then responded with "are you naked?" The food was dreadful! The last few days there was spent eating out because we could not even bear to eat any of it. Even the young Germans who were in our hotel were also dining out. The pool? Well I wouldn't call it a pool more like a tiled pond. The entertainment was boring and repetitive. Would NEVER in a million years go back, it's just a terrible excuse for a hotel, and as for being advertised as a 3 star? Don't make me laugh I wouldn't bother giving it 1!
