Great hotel in perfect location

I have been visiting Bude all my life but when I woke up on a Saturday in September and wante to see the sea that day my usual hotel was fully booked. Stayed at The Falcon and we had a great time. We stayed in the Summerleaze Suite which had a sea view and lounge, bedroom and shower room (with an amazing shower) and were delighted. A wedding was taking place that afternoon/evening (I suspect a regular occurence, Bude isn't awash with venues) and this did take over the bar somewhat so we chose to eat out. The breakfast was excellent and I'm sure we'll return,
What a Gem'

From the moment you see the location and walk through the door you realise what a special hotel this is, the warmest welcome I have ever had at any hotel, nothing is too much trouble for the staff here, The room was on the second floor with a window overlooking the canal to the front and a window overlooking the gardens, the room was beautifully furnished and very clean with everything you need for a very confortable stay, the bathroom was large and lovely with plenty of hot water. The room was extremely quiet at all times and we certainly had no trouble sleeping. The view from this hotel is stunning over the canal, yet only a few minutes from the beach or town. The breakfast in the beautiful dining room was excellent, as was the service, One night we did eat in the Coachmans Bar the staff are extremely helpful and the service superb, we had meals off the main menu and specials board and were impressed with the standard and presentation of our meals. This hotel excelled any expectations that i had and I highly recommend to anyone looking for a top quality hotel well worth every penny.
Everything for a relaxing stay. Wonderful Staff, Wonderful location !

Have stayed at this wonderful family owned hotel with my hubby now for about the last 6 years. On each stay, its easy to remember the staff as they hardly change (says something about the owners !!). The food is lovely - whether it be for a hearty english breakfast on hot, clean, grease-free plates, through to lunch served on the terrace (weather permitting), right through to evening meal - served either in the informal 'pub stayle' dining, or the air conditioned restaurant with lovely views overlooking the peaceful canal! The gardens are beautifully kept, and privacy is paramount if you just want to read in the garden on a summer day. A quick phone call to reception will ensure lunch and snacks are delivered. Nothing too much trouble ! The staff are particularly friendly without being over-bearing and the rooms -recently refurbished - contain everything you need for a lovely stay. Recently installed lift for those with limited ability (or just eaten too much in the restaurant !). Parking local (just outside, or across the road). Plenty to do from the hotel base - including a walk across to the lovely beach, or down by the canal to the lock gates. All rooms are beautifully decorated, bathrooms and showers are ace ! Cant wait to travel down this year. Wouldnt stay anywhere else. This hotel is unparalled for : style of accommodation, facilities, restaurant, yummy breakfasts, helpful and friendly staff, comfortable rooms with great showers, private terraces away from the roads, lovely gardens with seating, residents lounge .................... Stay there yourself !!
Very helpful & friendly

Having been stranded in the snow I was given a very warm welcome at the Falcon. The staff were extremely helpful in helping me cancel bookings at other hotels that I could not get to and helping me reschedule my routes for clients I could visit safely taking into account road conditions. The food was excellent, both dinners & breakfasts served piping hot and fresh with a good choice. I was shown personally to my room which was clean, warm and comfortable if a tiny bit small (a single room). The friendly nature of the staff encouraged visitors to be friendly also, this made for a very pleasant stay where as a lone female traveller I felt comfortable and safe. When next in the area I will make this my first choice for booking. Well done to all the staff.
as excellent as usual

we have to make twice yearly trips to Bude and are usually given accommodation in the Falcon. we have always found the rooms wonderfully clean and neatly presented. the breakfasts are individually cooked and are more than adequate. we have only been fortunate enough to eat in the bar twice and have very much enjoyed the food. It is a nice clean and hotel that still treats you as an individual .nice location with sea views and wonderful gardens to the rear and side.
excellent

Stayed for two nights and the place was very clean, welcoming and friendly.3rd time we have stayed at the Falcon. Our room had a spa bath, overlooking the gardens.Flat screen tv,tea and coffee, iron, trouser press, hair dryer, phone and all the usuals.Staff were fantastic and the meals were great in the falcon pub. Cost was £130 per night per room and worth it.Good base for touring and a good selection of info of things to do in the main entrance hall. Dont forget to take advantage of the full english !!
Disgusting and uncomfortable

We arrived in Bude and randomly chose to stay at The Falcon. My food was amongst the worst I have ever been served - it was like a piece of carpet covered in slime. The surly staff obviously wanted to be elsewhere - so did we but it was already too late. The beds are 'fit for a dwarf' - if you are anywhere near 6 foot tall you can forget about sleep.
A lovely hotel in a great location

We arrived late in Bude having got stuck in traffic on our way down from London - we had made arrangements to stay in another hotel locally but they had double booked us... We asked around for an alternative place to stay and were recommended the Falcon Hotel. Even arriving at 11pm, the Reception and Porters were on hand to help with luggage in a very courteous fashion. We were quickly checked into the last available twin room that the hotel had, with a lovely view over the canal. The room was immaculate as was the bathroom, we had a faulty shower head, but with a quick call to the reception, someone was up within 5 minutes to rectify the problem, quite amazing service! We paid for the half-board bed and breakfast package which was reasonably priced and the breakfast provided was more than ample to our requirements with a huge selection of cereals and juices to start and then many different options for the main breakfast including a 'full cornish breakfast' which was quite divine. Dinner on our second night was superb too, we chose to dine in the 'coachmans bar' rather than the 'tennysons restaurant' although the restaurant prices seemed reasonable, the bar was very good value and the food of a high standard. Despite only being a 3 star hotel, it felt much more like a 4 or even 5 star as the level of service was so great. I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit Bude, although the weather wasn't great, the accomodation provided by the hotel really made our day! I couldn't recommend this hotel more
Comfortable and welcoming

The Falcon Hotel in Bude Cornwall is traditional but also comfortable and welcoming. Its in a lovely position in Bude over looking the canal and very convenient for the beach. The bar food was fine with excellent portions, breakfast was very good. We stayed for one night in March and would go there again if in Bude. Its very clean and has an immaculate garden. We found the staff friendly and helpful. Our room was very traditionally decorated - ie pink and chintz. But it was comfortable and the bathroom was also very clean.

I was on a tour of Cornwall and Devon in the West Country of England and booked into the Falcon Hotel in Bude, Cornwall - a great surfing location with amazing waves. Bude itself was very very pretty with its dramatic Atlantic Jurassic coastline with sheer cliff faces and... more
