Complejo Formentera Hotel Reviews
" better than expected "
Submitted By: bettie95
i was not looking forward to going to this hotel after the reviews i read. when i got there i was meet by a girl on reception who let us check in early because the room was free, she was very nice. the room was clean and had 3 beds with lots of room, the bathroom had a shower and a bath a toilet and a sink, the shower leaked onto the floor but was easily cleaned up with towels. the water was always hot.
the location was great if you wanted to be just out of the west end, it was a 10 -15 min walk, you would think it would be less noisy because of location. nope, it was noisy when everybody was coming home, but so what its going to be noisy anywhere you stay in san an.
i would stay here again, the rooom was cleaned everyday and clean towels, the girls on reception were fab.

" Great Basic and Cheap hotel, right... "

Great Basic and Cheap hotel, right beside a very small beach - only about 15 minute walk round past Cafe Del Mar to the West End and Es Paradis and Eden etc. Def recommend Bar Kanya to anyone going to ibiza for a drink by a pool during the day which is only a 2 minute walk from Formentera. Rooms were clean and large enough to be comfortable in. Great hotel and would def go back!!

The place has been taken over by GPS hotels, a respectable firm, and this has been reflected in some of the changes that have taken place. The place has been redecorated, and the bathrooms have been upgraded. The showers are excellent, there is a good supply of top quality towels, and the bed linen is clean. The rooms are clean and come provided with a kitchenette. The cooker rings do not work, but this is probably a good thing given that they are gas and given the likely state of some occupants after a night out.
While all the rooms have balconies, there are at least six in each floor which have no view, with balconies sharing a lightwell 3metres x 1metre. It is bad enough for people on the top floor but for the poor sods on the lower floors, the sky must seem like miles away. If you are allocated one of these rooms, reject it. Similarly refuse if you are allocated a room with a suffix ‘A’ (eg Room 41A). Some rooms have a connecting door to another room and these doors have no acoustic control. You can hear everything and I mean EVERYTHING that goes on next door (sorry Lindsey).
Where the Formentera falls well short is the noise. You can hear people shouting in the corridor at all hours and it carries throughout the building. The room doors are inadequate as they do not prevent noise transmission, and as they have a 25mm gap at the base, would be useless in the event of a fire.
While I could forgive the place for all their shortcomings, I could not condone their dodgy plumbing. There is a pump I think, emanating from the en-suite service duct, which has a motor that makes a loud, irregular whining noise, which turns on at 9am. It makes a sound like a turbo-prop plane facing a storm, and is on all day. This meant that it was impossible to catch up on my sleep during the day. I enjoyed my holiday but left the island exhausted. Personally I would not go back to the Formentera in a hurry, but maybe GPS will continue with the upgrade, and eliminate the dodgy plumbing and acoustics.
Enjoy your stay.
