I saw the "Radisson" name and figured this would be a decent stay, I've travelled the world east to west and stayed in a few before but it seems the BLU brand or at least the Radisson Blu in Taba is a mere shadow of what one expects of a hotel that's supposed to be five... more

Good fun had by us
Just returned on Sunday from the All inclusive SAS Radisson Taba. We paid 479 to Peltours - you can get it cheaper of the net - and I see no advantage going with Peltours - who were sufficient - no more. I have to reitereate a few points made by others. Its not 5/4 star compared to Europe - but it is by Egyptian standards ! Rooms are good size - with good air conditioning. Balconys are all good with views of some form. Plumbing a little tired. Generally there was plenty of water - except for a few hours when the Hotel was full and everybody wanted a bath at the same time - just have a beer - enjoy the view and sure enough there was plenty of hot water. The surroundings are good - well maintained grass and plants - consider where you are - the rest of this area is stone and desert - so in comparison this is an oasis. The pool is good - two levels - one shallow one deep - with a couple of paddling pool option too. Appeared clean and maintained. Plenty of sunbeds - bit more competition when the Israelies decended for there passover - but in reality there was still plenty of room. Tended to be a bit noisy - Kids( fair enough) water aerobics water polo belly dancing etc - all a laugh if you wanted to burn up some calories. the beach is man made - load of sand plonked on a stony beach. Is is not a easy entry beach - there is weed and coral. There is a floating jetty with steps which was cool -you can just stand and peer at the fish- but if you are not a strong swimmer or a kiddy - stick to the pool. Snorkeling was good - if you can fin out 50 Metres - there are lumps of coral - a house reef - lots of nice fish. Plent more sunbeds on the beach - where it was a bit quieter too. You could ride a camel and buy trinklets off some Bedouin - but they did not come around and hassle you. Evening entertainment was so bad it made me cry with laughter - even when the guy was jumping up and down on glass in the Fakir show - oh I dont know - they tried and well - what do you expect - Its just a bit of fun. Omar was a good laugh - they do work very hard. Food was excellent for 1 week - think 2 weeks and it could be a bit much. Two sittings - for dinner. Waiters work hard - but service is a little slow - just relax and get into the slower pace - and you wont notice. Give them a bit of chat and learn a few arabic words - you will be laughing with them pretty soon. They seemed to like kids - but were wary of the few inevitable drunks. One drunk walked into the glass door! My how the whole of the Hotel seemed to be laughing. I hardley noticed them - but did not go into the Hotel "disco" much. Lager is good. Wine is watered down - red best option. The spirits are all local - you must pay for imported stuff. we found it tasted a bit weird- tried getting drunk on it once - stuck with the Sakara lager for the rest of the week. I like a drink - so was pleased I got a bottle of wine and whisky on the way out in duty free - probably the best tip I got from this forum. I did some diving here and from the main centre boats - the Dive staff were excellent Tamir and Ehab - all were lots of fun and very competent. Its not too cheap - pretty much UK prices - but I enjoyed it all the same. Hubbly bubbly pipes on roof top was fun for one eve - bit over priced. Weather was 34C most time - one windy day and night - which was not too bad. Hotel shops are over priced - take everything with you. This Hotel is isolated - there is no real shoopping to be done. Tips were not expected - we gave them a communal one at the end of the week - its up to you. I met other people at the Marriot/Sofitel who moaned about the rip of prices of drinks at there hotels - but it is hearsay. Also said their beach was a bit crowded. Only mozzies we encountered was at departure lounge of airport - they had a feast on unprepared people - we had anti mozzzie sunlotion in our bag - but girlfriend was still bitten 4 times - I killed 3 - all with blood -yeugh. In summary - good fun for a week for anyone - kids up to Grans. Food good. Pool good. Sea/beach - fair - good for snorkeling ( there is a map of the reefs in the dive centre). Probably would not go back - been there done that - but happy to recommend it. Enjoy.
Geat value for money
My husband and I have just returned from a week at the Radisson, Taba. The hotel was spotless with constant cleaning and gardening. The rooms were large with good sized bathrooms (and a bath!!) Only going for a week AI we didn't try the other restaurants. The AI restaurant was excellent within the confines of what you can provide for different nationalities. Plenty of variety, always a hot dish (sometimes two) prepared for you. You would have to be a really picky eater not to be able to eat well here. Hygiene excellent; not a trace of funny tummy. The only thing is the Egyptians are not renowned for their wine making! The white was dreadful, the rose not much better but the red was perfectly acceptable. Or you could have beer. The bars did the usual spirits and cocktails and all the staff were extremely accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. Swimming in the sea was off the end of a pontoon because of the reef. The pool is large but both were very cold. The pools are not heated and don't seem to warm up over the season. But if you get hot, you don't seem to mind. The hotel is really in the middle of nowhere; the Red Sea in front and mountains and desert behind. I think I would get a little stir crazy here for a fortnight, or go on one of the many well organised trips. We went with Longwood who I would heartily recommend. Very well organised and helpful. If you want a week of total relaxation, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Radisson.
Fantastic value. Don't listen to all the moaners!
Me and two friends have just returned from the Radisson in Taba. We too were sceptical after reading mixed reviews regarding the hotel but I am pleased to say that everything was fantastic. the food was great (apart from the meanness of the free wine), the staff were great, the hotel was clean and very impressive and the pool etc was also fantastic. We didn't feel any need to use the a la carte restaurants and made our own entertainment in the evening, although what we did see of the hotel entertainment didn't look bad. Had never been to a desert before and the drive to the hotel was amazing. Bedouin tribes at the side of the road are not something you see every day. we had such a fantastic time and made good use of the massages. i can definitely recommend the thai massage but not if you want a relaxing experience. Fantastic value and a great holiday!!
A Superb Holiday
I was very worried after booking my holiday to the Raddisson as it was a surprise for husband's 40th Birtday. Well I felt compelled to write a report to say what a fab time we had at the Raddisson !!!! The rooms are lovely and spacious and very clean. The health club was good and very well equiped. The food is varied however the white wine that is included in the All inclusive packaging is awful!!!! the red wine is much nicer. My personal opinion is that a holiday is what you make it, we met some lovely people and had a fantastic time. the staff were always friendly and willing to help you if you needed anything. Would definetly recommend the Raddisson to anyone going to Taba. If you are going in the near future have a great time !!!!!
value for money
13th March 2005 My girlfriend & I have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel. I dont really understand why there have been any negative reviews. The only negative thing is the entertainment, which is very poor. But after many drinks you make you're own entertainment anyway, well we did!! The food was very good, with alot to choose from and always fresh and presented well. The staff are always friendly and joking with you and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms were very big, clean and exactly the same as the radisson hotels in the U.K The pool was big and the beach was good with no fighting over sunbeds as there was loads to go round. There is nothing to do outside the hotel, but people should have checked this before going, instead of moaning about it there. Overall i would recommend this hotel to everyone and think its very good value for money.
Not A Five Star Resort!
The Radisson sas Resort In Taba Egypt is advertised as a 5* hotel, but is in fact a 3* hotel. The amenities it provides are probably what enables it to be classed as 5*, however the level of service, food and accomodation are really 3* standard. This said, some of the staff were excellent; the food was occasionally very nice; it was very relaxing; the weather was very good ( 30/12/04 - 9/01/05). I would recommend it for someone who wants to do nothing literally on their holiday.
Overall Raddison Taba was very good Jan 2005
Some negative reviews here which I do not agree with. Given that Taba has nothing but a few hotels, you do spend at lot of time at your hotel. The Radisson was good (Egypt 5 stars, but would say 4 stars). You can only go all inclusive which can be difficult but the food was excellent and varied and the staff mostly friendly. If you are going and you like to drink - take as much of your own as you can - the white wine tasted like soapy water. It was unique in its awfulness. The red was a little better but still gave me a shudder - the beer was ok (local Stella). Trips are important given there is nothing in Taba. Went to Petra in Jordan and the Dead Sea/Mossada in Israel. Worth doing but trips are expensive and lots of border hassle. Worth going - once.
average holiday
My Wife and I booked last minute and didnt have chance to do any research into the hotel. We found the room was excellent, the complex was great but the big let down were the staff. It felt like you were asking for the world every time you wanted a beer and they are very slow at what they do.Worst thing about them was how much they letched at my wife and any other young females.Word of warning- if your wife or girlfriend goes topless, they will be queueing up for a'look'. The night time entertainment consisted of a very bad karaoke singer in the 'disco'.The food was same thing every day.And finally, why do parents leave their kids unsupervised in the deep end of the pool?
Great time in Taba!
We have just returned from a new year break at the radisson. All in all we had a great time! However I would like to agree with a previous reviewer who commented on the "heated pool", this was only very slightly heated and not enough really for a winter trip so don't expect too much from it. We found most of the staff very friendly, they would always say hello when you passed them. The new year celebrations were different, they were on a very large scale and probably more than they should have taken on, but we enjoyed them. The food was good, a wide variety and choice, i would disagree with a previous reviewer about the lack of choice for children, every meal there were many basic foods which most children would enjoy alongside the spicer options. I would recommend a visit to the italian restaurant, the food was lovely but the service is very very very slow!! All in all i would recommend the hotel for a relaxing break in the winter months but don't go expecting complete and utter luxury, it's not quite the 5* it claims to be.
ok for a week
We have just retuned from a weeks break at the Radisson in Taba. The hotel was very clean and fresh as it should be as it's only 2 years old. The entertainment was very poor. We went all inc, that was also very disappointing, the bar staff were not wanting to serve you a drink after 10pm, your all inc was unit 11pm. The bar staff could do with some customer service training. The food was ok nothing special. There was nothing at all on the meun for children. The pool was to cold to go in even though they had said that it was heated. One thing I will say is that we meet lots of very nice people, all with the same opinion as the above. I would go to Taba again but not the Radisson.
