For a change this year we opted for a catered chalet in the Bulgarian resort of Borovets.
We were a little bit apprehensive as we had heard some good and bad things about Bulgaria. However what a brilliant time we had, we were met at the airport by the chalet staff, and an hour later we arrived at the front door.
We had seen some photos of the inside of the chalet, but we were pleasantly surprised as they didn’t do it justice.
The food cooked by Emy was brilliant and she catered to all our peculiar requests!! her cakes are to die for, and the couple who look after the chalet, Bobby and Maria were absolutely brilliant. They came up with all sorts of different things for us to do, and Bobby works at the ski school so everything was sorted with no bother.
The skiing was brilliant, even though ,most of Europe seems to have had little snow we had loads. We skied every day and even tried boarding one evening.
The resort is great in the evening you can wander up to the slopes and the kids could go sledging whilst we watched from a great bar on the side of the slope.
We were a party of ten with three children all of whom went into the kindergarten in the Samokov hotel, and they had a great time, going skiing in the morning and the afternoon, the price was pretty good at about £40 for the week.
The chalet itself is a couple of minutes walk from the gondola, was warm and the rooms are really modern all with their own bathrooms, TVs and DVDs which was great for the kids.
All in all 10/10 for the accommodation, and we are all set to book again for next year, bend ze knees as Bobby would say.
