nice place
from NJsaz
I really liked this hotel. The only thing I didn't like was hoisting my bags to the top floor, other than that everything was very pleasant. The room and bathroom were very clean, and the service was great. The concierge was more than helpful and whenever asked a question about a tourist site would give us a pamphlet and print out a map with directions. The continental breakfast was also pretty good. If I went back to London I would stay here again. (The location was also nice being a couple of blocks away from the big train station!)
Wonderful!

I booked the hotel online and the rate was reasonable cheap as it is very near to the Victoria Station. Though is a bit small but tourist attraction is within walking distance. We walk to Buckingham Palace the moment I checked in. Breakfast can be improved to full english breakfast although current continental is OK. One thing they need to have is LIFT! Can't imagine if I were to carry heavy luggage to 3rd floor by stairs.
clean, nice decor, tiny rooms, bed breakfast, very loud, weird staaf
from livingINtheUK
I stayed in Astors for 2 weeks (while looking for accommodation in London) and when I got there I was pleasantly surprised with the nice decor of the rooms. I stayed in other London hotels, but I could see this was recently refurbished. first week I had a single room, which had lowered ceiling and the size was so tiny I felt like in a cellar. The bathroom was very good size, but as cold as a cave. the bed was very soft. like I said, nice decor and good sized bathroom were the positives, although the shower was blocked, and not dealt with although I requested it. second week I stayed in a double room, since the single was too tiny. this one was again nicely decorated, but I had to move the bed closer to the window, so I had somewhere to put my suitcase. the bathroom had a tiny sink, but at least the temperature was fine. the rooms have airconditioning, so this would be a plus in the summer. if you want to get a good night sleep, wear earplugs. the receptionists make constant phonecalls, so you can hear their looong conversations in some other language, and also the guests can be heard as well. it is extremely noisy. the breakfast room was next to the reception desk, with 4 tables only, so I ended up taking food to my room all the time. it looks like all the hotels in that area have the same breakfast supplier. it is very basic, very vegetarian, and you will only end up with cereal, toast, butter, cheese, yoghurt, some pastry and if you are lucky, even a boiled egg. the room service cleaned the rooms before 1pm, and there were supposed to be tea, coffee, bottled water, milk and biscuits. during my stay I got water and biscuits only sometimes, probably according to the cleaners mood. funny, since I paid higher rate for the double room, sometimes I got nothing, and I was supposed to get 2 waters etc. the biggest disapointment were the receptionists. I could never rely on them with anything. 2 were fine, but rest very bad. I asked one thing from one person and they would not put it in the system, i.e. stay extension, early check out with enough notice. when I booked the hotel, they promised, that I will be charged at the end of my stay. then I found out, they took it of my credit card when I checked in without my permission, even though I said I might not be able to stay for the full period. (they said it was ok to give them 24 h notice). after my second week, I wanted them to use my corporate charge card again, but this time there were some problems with it. Regardless of the fact that historicaly I paid them with the same card 520GBP,(without my knowledge) the receptionist lost his temper with me, and then he started chucking the unauthorised receipts in front of me, threatening me with taking legal action against me. I am a professional, and I felt very uncomfortable with such attitude. It said clearly on the invoice that I had 30 days to clear the outstanding amount, which I thought was helpful due to my card not working. he said it doesn't apply to me. why does it say on the invoice then?? I came back to pay within the same day, but I never got the receipt. I felt like I was dealing with some mentally disturbed person there. it's up to you if you stay there. I was seriously disappointed with this particular receptionist, the noise in the hotel (people constantly complaining about it) and the tiny breakfast area with very basic food. This was probably because of me staying there for 2 weeks. maybe it would be ok, just for the weekend in summer. I didn't attach any photos, since the rooms look like on the website, but imagine the size is tiny. They only fit a bed.
I couldn't ask more for the price!!!

Everything was very clean, the room was comfortable, new and smart (a bit small, but it was ok). We got very comfortable beds and a nice LCD TV. The location (Ebury Street) is just great and the breakfast was very good. The staff was gentle and we paid only 60 pounds/night for the twin room (low season, babe!). If i could ask more for the price, i would say "some wifi please!", but i cannot, so I will definitely stay there again next time I go to London.
Had a great stay

The Astors Victoria is a lovely little hotel - More a number of houses joined together. Our room was lovely - not big but just about right. It was my wife and I's first stay in London and the staff were helpful in pointing out a few must see attractions. Breakfast in the morning is a help yourself continental breakfast which set us up lovely for sightseeing. I would definitely go back and stay there again. --- One note to the other posts below. I think some people have misidentified this page as for the hostel with the same name. The two are separate.
Adequate, Not bad, not good
from henchard
This is a hard one to review. Being a skinflint I often look for an inexpensive but clean hotel to stay in for the odd night when staying in London for a concert (Bruce Springsteen this time!!). Astors (not to be confused with a similarly named hostel near Victoria Station) is located in Ebury Street in Belgravia a very smart and expensive part of London. It's about 5 minutes walk from Sloan Square underground and the King's Road. It's a small narrow building with 3 or 4 stories and no lift. Reception was efficient and the rooms small and clean. So????? Well it is just a tad strange. It's trying to pretend to be a boutique hotel, but it isn't. Although I think refurbished not long ago it is starting to look worn around the edges already. The included continental breakfast was a rudimentary serve yourself type of thing; but was adequate. So, it's ok. Definitely adequate if you can't find anywhere else but I think there are probably better places to be found (let me know if you do find one!), but I probably won't stay there again.
very small but very nice
from traveller2511
This hotel has been recently refurbished to a very modern and elegant taste, we found it at a good price (89 GBP) although I would not pay more. On the good side : this hotel is very close to Victoria, eveything is very clean and new, so it makes it agreeable to stay in. On an average side, it is an old house converted as a hotel and you can hear all the steps that people make upstairs, so if you stay there, ask for a room at the highest level. Breakfast is very basic, but again, we paid a cheap price for london so we could not except too much As a summary, if you need a convenient location and clean hotel, this is the one.
Astors Hotel - clean, reasonable accommodations near Victoria Station
from JKlassic
My wife and I stayed at the Astors Hotel in London for three nights in early September. I stumbled across their website while looking for reasonably-priced accommodations for a decent-sized room with air conditioning. By booking two weeks prior to your stay, you can save an extra 15 pounds a night. We paid 74 instead of the standard 89. The hotel is on a fairly quiet, residential street (Ebury Street) with lots of other residential hotels nearby. It’s a 10-minute walk from Victoria Station (underground and rail) and right around the corner from the Victoria Coach (bus) Station. We heard from two different sources that Ian Fleming (creator of James Bond) and Mozart (yes, that Mozart) used to live down the block on Ebury. It’s also near the pricey Belgravia residential neighborhood. Our room looked almost exactly like the room pictured on the website. It was small, but nicely decorated with contemporary furnishings (mostly red and black) and included a wall-mounted flat screen tv. I would have liked more room to store our luggage, but we got by. Speaking of luggage, the Astors has no lift (elevator) nor a bellman, so be prepared to haul your luggage up narrow flights of stairs. I think there are three stories total. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms include a continental breakfast in the small area off of the lobby. It can sometimes get crowded, and I noticed a few people just took food back to their room. Breakfast includes a nice selection of cereal, toast, rolls, juices, coffee, tea, yogurt, and individually-packaged slices of cheese, which we really enjoyed. A couple of quirks: the bathroom is so small that to get into the walk-in shower (no tub), you have to open the bathroom door – although it may not be this way in every room. Soap and shampoo are provided in wall-mounted dispensers. Also, we discovered that the hotels in England don’t provide washcloths in the bathrooms – this was consistent among the five hotels where we stayed. I also found it unusual that you had to put your room key card into a slot near the door to operate some of the lights – an energy-saving feature, I guess. Also, the ceiling-mounting air conditioner in our room was temperamental and noisy. It can only be operated by an off/on switch (no thermostat) and several times, I had to stand on a chair and bang on the case to stop the loud vibrating noise. We ended up sleeping with the window open for a couple of nights, which was nice, but exposed us to some street noise. There is a restaurant right across the street (the Lime Tree) as well as a wine bar, although we didn’t try either. The closest pub (Traveller’s Tavern) is around the corner near the Victoria Coach Station. We liked The Shakespeare Pub near Victoria Station better, as it's also great place to watch all of the activity around the station. There are lots of other food and retail options near the very busy and crowded area around Victoria Station. This area is also a city and tour bus hub, which packs the sidewalks. There are also two theatres near Victoria Station, currently running “Billy Eliot” and “Wicked.” We saw “Wicked” and recommend it. The hotel is also a 15-minute walk from Buckingham Palace. While it wasn’t our favorite hotel of the trip, it was the least expensive and was clean with a comfortable bed. If you’re looking for decent accommodations around the Victoria area of London, I recommend the Astors.
Great value!

Stayed here between 3-5 september 07. The rooms are small but perfect; cleen, LCD TV, Clean toilet. You have to remind your self that you are in London, Not Bangkok. If you want the same hing standard room in this city you shold expect to pay at least 200 £ on a special deal. Moving on; good buffet brekfast, small, but enough. We payed 148 £ for two nights, the rack rate is 199 £ per night. The location, if you are a tourist, cant get better, close to everything. We consider it a crime to not stay here if you are on a budet, and it is not wort paying 40 £ less for a 1 star hotel in the same neigberhood. Kent
Good Hotel
from RaffYork
We had originally booked 1 night at the Central House Hotel in Victoria (although I was alittle worried about what to expect as the reviews on Trip Advisor are not always positive!). However, when we arrived we were told we were being moved to the Astors Hotel as there was a maintenance problem with our room. The room at the Astors was lovely, a good size and very clean (I suspect newly refurbished) we didn't have any problems with noise from other residents and the area is fine (well it is Belgravia!). We walked back from the Victoria Palace Theatre around midnight with no problems. Good hotel, pleasant staff, comfortable bed, great power shower, would definately stay again. Ps) Do see Billy Elliot if you can it's brilliant!

This is a fairly basic hotel, as shown in the prices charged. However, the standard of accommodation is generally good. For central London, the rooms are of a reasonable size and well equipped. The bedroom had a modern large-screen LCD digital TV though I thought it... more
