Dont Bother
from Skin7344
The accommodation is dirty, within 5 minutes of arriving and taking our shoes off, our feet were black. The hotel cleaning staff did not wash the floor once in our stay and we had to request cleaning/towels/change of bedding on more than at least three occasions. We arrived at after 1am, any right minded/considerate hotel would put out and make up the '3rd/4th' bed - these are the sofa and a pull out bed. This was also not cleaned behind and the dust level appalling (to be honest - don't hit the pull out because the dust coming out is worse). We made several complaints to the Reps, with no success as they are not empowered to do anything. The 'Emergency' contact number, where you contact Tour Operator UK help desk when you can't contact your rep is even worse. They promise a call back (and for reference - Emma and Julie I am referring to you) never do, its now 7 days since we returned home and i am still waiting for the call. The shop we booked the holiday with (Tour operator store, Hanley) started the disaster when they lied to me in February when they stated that they never check the ages of the kids so they can go in any of the kids clubs. THEY DO CHECK AND THEY CANT... ALSO be aware that if your child is under 3 years old, it will cost you 15 Euros per SESSION. The in resort reps can not give you the name of who to contact in the UK in customer services, the UK shops cant either. PS the customer services department does not work over bank holiday weekends either and they dont have any idea of customer service either. The hotel is 800m from the beach, well er yes, as the crow flys. to walk it its a good 20 minutes, and more like double the figure (1600m). Be careful which way you walk as the main on street bins are not collected that often, so every so often a slight smell or when my family and I were there - the broken TV case was moved but not the broken tube leaving glass over the pavement. Don’t forget the entertainment starts at 9am - The sunbed rush, where you are expected to queue at the door to run for the sunbeds. In itself the non-reservation of a sunbed is not a bad idea, but when you get the 'reserved and patience' Brits knocking children over - yes Children, to get a bed first when the doors open at 9am - it is embarrassing. Even more so when no one stops to help but steps over the poor lad..... The 10:15 sunbed 'reservation' removal never happens. In fact if you want to see a comedy - get a room over looking the pool and be up by 9am.......... My personal advice for anyone looking at this resort, would be not to bother. Other advice form the hotel/tour operator staff when you cut your feet on the glass around or in the pool - wear flip flops.. My advice - if you do go, dont go near the garden between the childrens play ground and deep end of the pool, used condoms not a site for the kids first thing I am saying nothing here I have not already said to the shop or reps in resort, when I can (eventually) ge the name of the Customer Services Director, i will be saying the same.
Great bar staff-Jose!
from Bettyb00p2
We visted this hotel and we were amazed by the overall experiance. First off all, we have got to mention the sunbed run. We were on our way to breakfast and were shocked to see the amount of people quening for the sunbeds. We sat at out table eating and watched the rush off people running for the best spaces around the pool. The next day we decided to take part our selfs for a laugh! It was very enoyable as we watched people fighting over sunbeds and umberellas. We were pleasently suprised by all of the hard working bar staff. A special mention goes to Jose who was extremly friendly all of the time and was really hard working and a great member of staff. The entertainment was very good and enjoyable to watch. The reps did not take over this and just did there job. The food was tasty and the buffet style was good. The kids section is a great idea and ideal for children of any age. The restaraunt staff were also great and very friendly, especially Ana. One morning at breakfast a young boy dropped his plate and smashed it. he stood around looking shocked but the staff soon rushed over and told him that no harm was caused and soon cleared it up. The reps were very energetic and enthusiastic. They worked great with the children and were good to have entertaining people around the pool. The reception staff were extremely helpful at all times and were also very friendly. We did not have any problems with our room overlooking the road, and we did not find it too noisey either. The rooms were clean and the maids did a great job. If you are on a self catering holiday the kichens are equiped well. Salou is a great resort with loads to do. If you have children over the age of 8, visit the theme park-Portaventura, it is a good day out if the heat does not bother you. if it does then get a night ticket as the ques are genrely shorter and the atmosphere is great. Great holiday overall and we would go back if we had the opertunaty.
the great british sunbed rush
from LlanelliPepsi
this is an excellent apart/hotel. probably the best i've stayed in. the reps were friendly and helpful and the children's entertainers were second to none with their enthusiasm and energy. there always seemed to be some sort of activity throughout the day and evening. the hotel staff were also very friendly and the food was good in the restaurant. if you're lucky enough to get a poolside apartment, get up before nine and watch the great british sunbed rush from the balcony it's hilarious. having said that, it's not as bad as it looks and the sunbeds are plentiful, it's space that is limited. we regularly took part.

Great Hotel - Kids loved it !
from RowTyneandwear
Having never been to a Thomson Super Family Hotel before, I wasnt sure what to expect. However I was pleasently surprised. The kids entertainment was excellent , and the entertainers never seemed to lack enthusiasm or energy to keep going!! My son whos four loved the kids club tots and occasionally went to the evening clubs which he loved aswell. The pool and playareas were great and very clean. The food from the bar was good , and as we were self catering , we only chose to pay to eat in the hotel a couple of times. Both times there was plenty of choice for the adults and a separate choice for the kids. The only down side was the mothercare cot that we were advised to pay for or risk there being no cot on arrival. We paid £15 for 2 weeks. Not bad , however it was at least 8-10 years old and passed its best. On speaking to other people , they hadnt prepaid and had a better cot than us anyway ! I think if you've paid for a cot , it should be under 4 years old.
Excellent Value, Friendly Hotel!

We booked this hotel last minute and had a real bargain. This our 5th holiday in Salou and by far the nicest hotel we have stayed in. A holiday is what you want to make of it and we enjoyed this one. When we arrived there had been some mix up at the airport which delayed us so we arrived at exactly the same time as another busload of holidaymakers, but the reception staff were extremely efficient and checked everyone in as soon as possible. Our room was on the roadside and only 2 floors up so we did have road noise and sometimes noise from the bottle banks also below us. But I prefer this to being above the pool area where there is constant noise and chatter until after 2am. With the patio doors shut the noise isn't too bad. The room was clean, comfortable and well equipt for anyone self catering. We were half board and can honestly say that the food was excellent and plenty of choice. There were themed nights like Chinese when the waiting staff were all dressed up in Chinese outfits and the restaurant was decorated with lanterns, Chinese music playing and Chinese food. This was nice and the food was really good too. The waiting staff are kept really busy but only once did we have to wait a few moments for the waitress to re-lay a table when we arrived. The pool is excellent and there are plenty of sunbeds so no need to join the 8am rush for beds, we came to the poolside at noon several days and managed to get 4 sunbeds in a reasonable position. The staff are really friendly here reception are very good for information and booking taxis ect. Most of them have good English (a few are English). The bar staff are really good and they work very hard to keep the queues low and the tables clean. A special mention to Sarr who has worked here for 10 years and is still smiling! They have a 'happy hour' in the bar every evening from 8pm-9pm when all drinks are buy one get one free. Most of the things previous reviews were the Thomson staff, I feel that this is a bit unfair as the hotel has no control on the reps that Thomson put here. I cannot comment on the 'SuperFamily' aspect of it as none of our party are 'young' children (youngest aged 11). This is a 3* hotel in Salou and that is what you get. Salou is generally a lively place and there are very few quiet hotels here. If you want 4* service dont go to a 3* hotel. What you DO get is good food, nice staff and a clean comfortable hotel.
Great hotel spoilt by Thomsons
from DeniseMancheter
Having visited the hotel in May 2006 and had an absolutely brilliant time we also had the misfortune to return. Whilst we were aware Thomson's had moved Isreal (an exceptional entertainer) to another hotel we thought he would be replaced with someone reasonably good. How wrong we were. All the team i.e. Tall Paul etc have also been replaced and the new reps are absolutely dreadful. Particularly the young girl who screams into the microphone all the time and would be more at home in some Karoke bar with a group of 18 - 30's. We were also shocked to discover, unlike last year, when the reps just did early evenings and one night a week, this year they were expected to provide the cabaret on quite a few of the nights, the standard of which was dreadful. The hotel itself is still fantastic. The food is excellent, the bar staff, waitresses, cleaners etc couldn't be faulted but how Thomsons can still call this a Superfamily holiday is beyond me. The only exception is the creche, fortunately the lovely Chris is still in charge and he and his staff are fantastic, shame about the rest.
superfamily??? what a joke!!!!
from huglinson
we booked this as a first family abroad. we decided to book a superfamily as we thought they would have everything we needed, what a mistake! there were not enough highchairs in the dining room. we regularly had to wait for one. I had to pay €20 to have a highchair in the room!!! the rooms are old and basic, there are no sockets covers provided and so little fingers are there all the time, one of the sockets was just bare metal in the wall. The maids do not understand the meaning of the do not disturb sign and just come wandering in. the food is awful and so disappointing, altho the deserts are pretty good. The location is good but request a room facing the pool as the roads are very noisy. Our patio door did not fit properly and we were kept up ALL night twice. the handyman looked at it and said there was nothing he could do!! We enjoyed the resort but we would not return to this hotel if we won it in a competition
gone downhill
from lisalambie
We went to this hotel last year in July and loved it so much we payed full brochure price £1400 for 5 of su to go again this year in May. I wish we hadnt bothered the great team who entertained us last year had sadly moved on and the replacements were second rate. The girl who took over the main entertainment at night was awful her voice was shouting all the time and reminded me a bit of the fingers on a chalkboard!! the entertainment round the pool was non existant and the spanish chap who did it was unable to be understood! They now also waste 2 1 hour a night on Bingo it costs 1 Euro and you win a nasty bottle of wine and some Thomson gifts - someone is making some money from that idea (everywhere else I have ever gone do cash prizes). The evening kids clubs were a waste of time your kids had no chance of getting in them if you werent the 1st queueing at the door at 6.30 we went a couple of times and were 4th in the line and still missed out. In a hotel packed full of kids they only had 24 spaces which were gone within 5 mins. All in all if you went here last year expecting more of the same save your money its gone right down hill. Even Thomson the dog only did every other night as another hotel was sharing him and the tape they play in the afternoon for the kids jumps so the kids now he isn't speaking. On a plus point the food had greatly improved and was gorgeous.
Wheres the good reps gone?
from k.chapman
I came to the hotel in May with my family and we enjoyed it so much, the reps Aidan, lauren and laura were so helpful. they were full of life and a pleasure to speak to. Aidan was especially good with the childeren even though he wasnt even a kids rep. it showed thomson to have picked the right people to be reps in this superfamily hotel. to our delight we found a deal to return in august so we did due to us enjoying it so much the time before. when we arrived back only laura was left. Aidan and lauren had been moved hotels, now we were greeted by two new thomson reps. incompetent id not even the word. they didnt seem to know their arms form their elbows. very uninformed on the resort and the hotel. the entertainment also had seemed to have slipped and alot more complaining guests around. we felt gutted that the hotel had chaged in such a short time span. the food was still excellent but we found ourselves out of the hotel alot more and discovered the resort more this time. Bring back the good reps, little legs laura seemed lost without her original team. the children were devasted not to see Aidan and Lauren, it just goes to prove reps can make or break a holiday, can thomson get it right again?

My wife and i have just returned from this hotel. First of all, i would like to say that if you like a Butlins with sun then this is a fantastic place. If you are a couple like we were then you will find it not only noisy in the pool area, but they seem to put couples... more
