Aparthotel Golden Avenida Suites

The maids were very good and cleaned daily and changed towels and the room smelt very nice.
There was entertainment all day around the pool with hotel reps and Thomson reps for all ages. The entertainment of a night wasn’t that much, they catered more for children than teenagers.
Happy Hour was good as you got 2 for 1 on drinks between 8 and 9. There was good security in the hotel and at 12 pm the exterior doors were locked and opened by security only.
Reception staff were very good and spoke excellent English and were very helpful the hotel its self was very clean.
The location was brilliant just down one street and you was in the centre of it all, and the beach was about a 10 minutes stroll away, and the nightlife was very good and catered for all ages.
I recommend the steak house and the kebab house at the bottom of the road.

Stayed here in July last year and it was superb! So thought I would take the family again, but sadly I was disappointed.
1. The room stunk so bad of cigarette smoke I complained to reception that just sprayed air freshener, but this did not help still after 7 days it was still horrendous!
2. The kids club parties in the evening only had 24 spaces, which had to be pre-booked and my kids couldn’t get into them - we had queued as soon as we could and allocated spaces had gone in 5 mins!! So kids were really disappointed.
3. No entertainment by the pool and the little bit there was so run by a Spanish chap who you couldn't understand, the Thomson the dog show in the afternoon the tape jumped so the kids knew he wasn't really speaking.
4. The girl who does the evening entertainment was so loud and unfunny and had a voice like nails on a chalkboard.
5. They now play 1 hour of Bingo at 9 o'clock every night and there are no cash prices just a towel, bottle of wine or a cheap nasty Thomson camera.
So if you went here last year expecting more of the same - my advice is dont go. Crazy Kate has gone and so had Tall Paul and the replacements are a poor substitute!
On a plus point the food had immensely improved.

I’ve just returned from the hotel with my wife, 8 month old and 2 1/2 yr old and I cant rate this hotel enough its excellent, we had a great time.
The entertainment was great with different shows every night and the kid’s entertainment was excellent to with Sam the bam and David
The food was also 10 out of 10 with plenty of choice (even for our 2 yr old). The chefs took great pride in their cooking and serving.
The pools were spotless clean and safe for the kids, also the indoor pool was a godsend as a couple of days the weather was bad.
All the hotel staff loved the kids and couldn’t do enough for us even the bar staff were great.
We were also surprised at the bar prices they were very reasonable especially happy hour!
The location was perfect not in the thick of it but I couple of minutes walk away.
The rooms were excellent having an apartment being half board (we had a pool view).
I will definitely be returning to this hotel and recommending it to everyone.

We stayed in Golden Avenida for 1 weeks holiday - me, my husband and 2 daughters 8 and 13.
My mum and dad also holidayed with us but they had their own room right next to us and they were half board and we were self catering.
The hotel itself is fantastic with everything you could possibly want. The outdoor pool was a great size and had quite a good sized shallow area.
The baby pool was fab as my youngest has a fear of pools but she felt confident in that pool because of its size and depth. All staff are so friendly and willing to help.
We paid to have dinner in the hotel a few times and it was really reasonable. The food was delicious and there was a lot of choice.
The beach is a 5 minute walk away and you pass all the touristy shops on the way which was good. Port Aventura is 5minutes away in a taxi (which costs about £3.00) which is better than getting the bus or train.
We all had a fantastic holiday and we will definitely be back at the Golden Avenida.

Excellent from start to finish. Hotel is fantastic, great apartments and pool. Reception staff are great. Entertainment good during the day, especially when all the reps joined in. Evenings sometimes dire but the golden entertainment shone through.
The Thomson reps Aidan, Lauren and Laura were absolutley fantastic. Could chat to them about anything, so approachable and good knowledge on the resort. Without them we wouldnt have known all the best restaurant, bars and places to visit. Aidan told us the quickest ways to the beach, he knew Barcelona really well, which he convinvced us to go on an excursion. One of the best days fo the holiday, defo recommend going there for the day.
The only bad point, Port Aventura ques sometimes huge, but would defo return again.

A nice clean hotel, everyone very friendly, speaking excellent English.
Food out of this world, thank you chefs, and of course Ana. Israel was as reports written before - excellent, but some of the acts were a bit poor on News Years Eve.
Bar staff very pleasant, and quick with your orders. Francis a special mention. We were in a group of 28 mixed ages, pensioners to 11 year olds, and we all enjoyed ourselves.

As a young couple with no children, we found this hotel to be the best we have stayed in, in any resort! every thing from the moment we got there till the moment we departed.
Friendly staff:- reception, maids, bar staff, shop assistant and reps all made our stay a excellent one!
Now with having no children me and my partner loved the poolside entertainment everyday, even winning a few games of giant connect 4 our selves!, the involvement of all families and reps knew that we all were there to enjoy ourselves, and we did just that!
Now as a young couple we love the night life Salou has to offer with not getting back to the hotel till between 2-5 am! The walk back to the hotel is quiet and a relaxation, whatever time we got back! Up early (ish)! In the morning to get some breakfast and then the holiday begins again.
Once me and my partner do have children we will not hesitate on taking them there, in fact I have already booked for next year, and we have only just got back!
All round happy, family (whether you have one or not) fun!

The hotel and entertainment was great especially the entertainers made your holiday fun.
The only downfall was the fact that the food wasn’t as we thought it was going to be hardly any English food, as most of the hotel was English I wouldn’t recommend going half or full board.
The pool area was awesome also super splash totally enjoyed it and bar staff were the best enjoyed happy hour definitely recommend going back to the same resort.

Me & my family have just returned from Salou a few days ago and we have had a fantastic time. The weather was brilliant for the 2 weeks and we able to do what we needed to do.
The hotel reception staff were fantastic and English spoken, so what ever we needed assistance with we got efficiently. We were self catering so we ate out most nights but when we did eat in the restaurant not one our party was unhappy with the choice. I must thank the bar staff, we had such a laugh with them especially Saar, Juan & Alavaro, because of there friendly attitudes we ended up in the bar till closing most nights (2am).
Within our party of 8 adults & 3 children the hotel catered for all of us. The crèche was excellent for the 3 little ones, they did many activities with them, drawing, reading etc. and they were fascinated with Thomson The Dog. The night time activities were for both adults and children, the dances they did with the kids (Tall Paul) was fabulous, they loved it and the Bingo with David always gave us a laugh. There was aways a 10pm or 1030pm show that were superb, we seen the Snake Man (yes with real snakes), acrobats & tribute bands.
We did venture out of the Hotel every day and its located in quite a central area, with shops, bars & restaurants on the same road. The beach is only a 5-10 min walk away or Port Aventura a 5 min ride in a taxi. Port Aventura is a fantastic few days out we spent three days there and enjoyed it each time. The only thing we were disappointed with was being told that a fireworks display would be on a Saturday night by a Thomson rep and when got there the information desk said they are only done in the summer months of July & August.
The hotel was very busy but we could always get a space at the pool or the terrace. Tall Paul, David & Tucker made the days entertaining with games & quizzes. My partner Sean and brother David took place in an England Vs Scotland football match which the Scots won (with a bit of cheating Ha, ha) It was good that they got us involved in the games as it gave us the opportunity to meet people, we certainly had some fun with the Scots after that.
Overall we all had a fantastic time and are looking into booking again next year around the same weeks. So Graham from Aberdeen if you are reading this, rematch next year maybe! (Come on England).

We have just returned from having spent a week there, it was the best holiday we have ever had. I cannot fault anything. We have had so much fun, so many, many thanks to Thomson and all the staff at Avenida.
A special thanks to Tall Paul and David, part of the entertainment team who have been exceptional. And a big thanks to all the holiday makers who were there (Graham in particular who was the life and soul of the party).
