Had a wonderful fortnight in Salou. Weather was amazing, only 3 minutes of rain in the whole 2 weeks. The Golden Avenida Suites were fabulous. We were with our 3 kids - age 9, 11 and 13 - who all had an absolute ball. The daily entertainment programme catered for all ages and interests and the simplistic games meant even the youngest children could join in. There were daily activities in the pool for those a little more sporty, including water volleyball and basketball, along with a daily aerobic workout for those with a little more energy!
The apartments were clean and relatively spacious. The maids were in cleaning every day and any problems were sorted almost immediately.
The entertainment staff and kids zone reps were fantastic - making sure everyone got involved and had a great time. The evening entertainment programme was second to none - with acts such as Riverdance, tribute bands and some amazing acrobats from Bejing.
Overall, we would rate this hotel and holiday experience 10/10 and would definately recommend it, particularly to families.

Just got back from 2 weeks at Golden Avenida with my husband & 3 sons (14,10 & 4) & my brother, his partner & children (14,5 & 3) what a fantastic holiday we had!!!!
Cannot fault this hotel at all, food was excellent (especially the cakes!) plenty of choice for everyone ( special thankyou to anna who arranged cakes to celebrate a birthday & anniversary we had whilst there) staff were brilliant , plenty of activities daily & nightly entertainment for everyone.
Port Aventura & water park excellent ( only 20 mins walk from hotel, buy passes before you go)
Salou is a great place for families would recommend to anyone, the best holiday I have been on.

I have just come back from a holiday in Golden Avenida.
I also went there two years ago. I am fifteen.
Good Points: Lovely food, different food everynight. The reception staff were excellent and very helpful. Theme park was brilliant, (Easily walkable from the hotel) Room was immaculate, cleaners were very persisstant and polite. The pool was cleaned every morning and there was always a lifeguard at the edge of the pool(which I thought was excellent). Nice size pool with a shallow end and a deep end. Entertainment in the nights was fantastic. Situated pretty near to the beach and shops etc. The bar staff were lovely always polite and chatty.
Bad Points: Two or three of the holiday reps were very impatient and rude. I thought they were the worst holiday reps i have ever seen on a thomson holiday. One rep actually said to a young boy "if you hit that boy with that blow up shark again, Ill wack you over the head with it" and she said this on the microphone. Also while i was doing one of the daily quizzes, where the holiday reps read out the questions, I couldn't undersatnd what she was saying so I asked her to repeat the question. I couldn't hear her again, so asked her again, she said aggresivly "WHY DON'T YOU LISTEN?" But one of the holiday reps was fantastic with the children. Pool was a bit cold. Had 4 days of Rain but you can't control the weather.
other than this I highly reccomend this hotel. Best Points - Quality of Food, all staff in the hotel and Theme park.

I travelled with my husband and three sons for a week in May. We could not fault the Golden Avenida in any way. First impressions when walking into reception was very clean and welcoming. The reception staff were very kind and friendly and give advice on anything you need to know including ordering taxis. The rooms were the usual basic style, but very clean and adequate. We had a room by the road, which was noisy during the day, but did not really bother us at all a night. We got cheap flights to Reus with Ryanair and booked the rooms direct with Thomson, it worked out excellent value as we paid just under £500 for the flight and two apartments for a week! Our boys are teenagers and there was not a great amount for them to do, but it seemed that all the families with young children were very well catered for. The Thomson reps did all they could to entertain everyone on the couple of rainy days we had. The pool was a bit cold but that is only to be expected this time of the year. The food at the hotel was excellent. you can purchase meal tickets daily from reception or for the whole week, but we found the best way was to see what range of meals they were offering each day from the menu displayed in reception and then decided whether to eat in the hotel or not. The breakfast is excellent value 6.00euros and evening meal is 14.00 euros. Great selection of food, well presented. A good place to eat is Uncle Sams American Diner, great value and large meals. Also we ate a a couple of English Pubs, one especially the Fox and Hounds was very good. I agree with the previous comment that Spain has got really expensive. In the hotel a Malibu and Coke costs 4.80 euros, not sure if it was much cheaper in the bars in the resort. Salou itself was OK, I should imagine the beaches are very crowded in high season. Lots of the usual souvenir shops which sell the same stuff. Port Aventura is great day out for all the family. Would definitely go back again, but not with teenagers. All in all a great hotel, especially for families with younger children.

just come back from a 2 wk hol in the golden avenida hotel and what more can i say but WOW!!!!! the best and cleanest hotel i have ever stayed at, there was 2 adults and 2 children aged 5 and 2 and we all thourouly enjoyed it, the entertainment for the kids which starts at 8.15pm and 9 for the adults was amazing, no cheap tacky entertainment all well worth seeing and the kids really enjouyed it.
Theres loads and loads of stuff for the kids to do during the day 2 which was very helpful as we had 4 days of rain. the only prob was we had to wait 2 hours on arrival to get into our rooms coz they wernt ready in time, but luckily for us it was really hot that day.
Rooms are basic but clean the maids come in everyday to make up the beds and empty the bins and change towels if need be, the rooms were clean and tidy and the hall ways were clean and tidy to, after all we wernt staying at the hilton so what more would you expect. excellent service and the hotel itself was so clean that you could bery easily eat your dinner of those floors, im thinking of hiring some of the cleaners or buying their good guide to cleaning book ha ha ha
althought we went self catering you can buy meal tickets and eat in the hotel restaurant if you want which was brill for us coz our kids are fussy eaters and the food was absolutely gorgeous and very well presented with loads of variety (which kept my partner happy as hes a gannet)
the entertainment staff are brilliant and work very hard to make sure that every1 is happy with the entertainment, and david the hotel entertainer is so funny i would have bought him home to keep my kids entertained constantly if i could.
close to the beech, shops and restaurants, the beeches are brilliant for the kids and salou seems to be a very kiddy friendly place with parks and climbing frames scattered everywhere even on the beech, how good is that.
overall a fantastic holiday 10/10 and i would have no hesitation in putting this hotel in the 5 star catagory. we have booked to go back nexy year but a little later as the weathers okay in may but would be better a bit later on. salou is buitiful and would suit any1, deffinately go there if you can.
thats enough of the essay now, sorry folks got a bit carried away in the moment!!!!!

I went to Avenida Park with my husband, my three year old daughter and family members. I cannot rave about this hotel enough as the service from the hotel staff was brilliant. We went half board and the food was absolutely gorgeous, there was a great deal of choice and i couldnt fault any of the food, i would say 5***** food!
The room was clean and the room maids came every day. I asked for an extra blanket and it was there within minutes, (it rained when we went and was a bit chilly of an evening). So even though the weather wasnt great the hotel made up for it.
My daughter loved the dancing hour with " Thomson the dog " etc; the hour 8-9 which was also happy hour at the bar (2 for 1, grrreat).
This was our first holiday in 6 years and although the holiday was great i realised that a holiday in spain isnt as cheap as it used to be!
Anyway not much else to say apart from i think we will be going to avenida park again next year as i was very impressed, oh and just one more thing..... If you have never been to peurtaventura theme park make sure you do as it is brilliant ( great for the adults and the kids) p.s Ive been told that it is cheaper to buy your tickets online before you go rather than buy them when your there. Happy Holidays !!!

Our party of 2 adults and 3 children really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We went for 2 weeks and from start to finish it was really nice, reception staff were really helpful and friendly.
We had a family room which was really big, my only fault on this was the fact we were on the 5th floor and with having a child of 2 year old didn't really think this was a great idea so you had to have your wits about you but we didn't spend a great deal of time in there so wasn't that much of a problem. However we did find this hotel really really loud with other guests dragging chairs around and shouting and screaming in the hall ways any time day or night.
The food in this hotel was excellent we did book our holiday as self catering but ended up buying a meal ticket at the hotel which was great value, and yes its true what you hear they do serve chips for the kids everyday but its up to you if you let your children eat them or not.
The pool at this hotel is the best, there was a slight problem with mattress for the beds you had to go out early but not a problem with beds there was always plenty there.
The entertainment here was brilliant from early morning right through the day till the evening. Well done everyone.
The resort of Salou is about a 5 to 10 minute walk which we liked to do after our evening meal. We did go to the beach which is very nice but very busy not ideal if you have young children that like to run around as there isn't a lot of space.
A few good places to eat if you do go out there's one on the round-about which if you come out of the hotel doors turn left and walk straight up its there, a green sign just up from there is Uncle Sams really really nice food here.
Have to say the resort is a bit smelly but overall I would go back to this hotel again in the future.

Excellent location, 10 min walk to main beach, bars, and restaurants along the way to the beach also LOTS of shops for the shopper-hollicks. Lovely clean beach and golden soft sand.
The staff and the reps were very friendly and very easy to get on with. The hotel entertainment was very good and David was very funny. There was a lot to choose from in the restaurant especially in the evenings. Sarr and the rest of the bar staff waited on you so you didn't have to stand waiting when ordering from the bar.
The rooms were very clean and tidy. The outdoor pool could have done with being warmed up at this time of year!! Definitely going back.
Got monies worth with pass to park but not seen everything, different shows on different days, and some things didn’t appear to be open or were closed for maintenance. Best hol we've been on so far. Something for everyone.

Stayed at the Golden Avenida end of September. The accommodation was spacious and spotlessly clean. Furniture basic but adequate - we don't go on holiday to spend time indoors, as long as it's safe and clean we're happy!
The food, well what can I say. We have never stayed anywhere half board before, and had reservations about doing so. However, the Golden Avenida far exceeded our expectations - the food was of five star quality and the staff clearly take great pride in this. There was a comprehensive offering, including healthy options. However, the salad bar appeared to be out of bounds for many - I have never stayed anywhere with some many enormous guests!
Staff including the Thomsons staff were friendly and courteous throughout our stay. Salou itself is OK, but a tad too British for my liking. I imagine that it is a chav paradise in high season - there were still a few shaven headed, tattooed, football shirt wearing families waddling about. If you go to the trendier bars by the beach you can easily avoid them; if there isn't a sign outside advertising cheap lager and Sunday roasts they tend to stay clear.
A day trip to Barcelona is a must, fantastic city. Wouldn't visit Salou again, was OK for an end of season holiday, but prefer somewhere a little more cosmopolitan.

I have just returned from a holiday in salou at the golden avienda park and this is a great hotel.
I travelled with my wife and 3 kids (9 years, 6 years, 18 months) and it was the first time that the kids had been aboard, so we carefully picked the hotel and resort based on websites like this one.
We booked the holiday as self catering but upgraded to half board on arrival. This cost 270 euros for 6 days for us all and turned out to be a great idea. The food in this hotel is brillant and there is a lot of choices for all tastes. It is also far cheaper to upgrade on arrival than to pay for half board through thomsons.
The rooms in the hotel were good and spotlessly clean. Also the maids changed the sheets everyday and were very friendly and seems to love kids.
The hotel it self is very family focused and they have a huge amount of activiates for the kids to take part in day and night.
I emailled the hotel before I arrived and asked for a room on the third floor which faced the pool and although they never replied to me I was given the room on arrival. This is the best place to be because you do not hear the nightclubs.
The bar prices in the hotel vary a lot and although a pint of lager was 2.75 euro (about 2 pound) a malibu and lemonade was 4.80 euros (4 pound). So it is worth going to the half hour between 8 -9pm each night when it is 2 for 1.
Overall I found Salou to be a lot better than I expected and did not find it dirty or full of lager louts. It was great for the kids and all the locals were very friendly. The hotel was just as explained and I would have no problems whatsoever recommending this hotel to my family.
Port avenitura was brilliant but ensure that you purchase your tickets before you go as it is a lot more expensive at the gate. Although my kids are a little young for a lot of the rides they still had a great time walking about and seeing the different areas. Also the firework display on a Saturday night is not to be missed. You can walk to the park from the hotel and it takes about 20 mins, but it is uphill going so please bear this in mind if you have young kids. You can get the train bus for 9 euros (2 adult, 2 kids) or the normal bus for 6 euros (2 adults, 2 kids).
Finally, I believe this hotel is a great choice for any people with kids, but it would not suit groups of men or women as it is geared towards entertainment for familes
