Just back from a 2 week stay at this hotel, My second time at it (first time was best holiday i have had).This time we arrived at 11am on the Saturday morning and were told our room would not be ready till 1pm, we had 3 kids one at 13 months, 5 cases and the pushchair and no rep there to advise us what to do with the cases, not a good start, on the Monday one child was sick when we found a rep she told us "that there had been a bug going round the hotel for the last week" not what we wanted to hear, over the next week we had one kid sick each day. The day our youngest son was ill he was sick in the cot and over my bed, The rep said she would sort it, we got handed 2 sheets !mattress in both beds still smelling of curdled milk, nice in the heat. The reps were not interested in anything helping us. One kid not in our party was on a drip with the bug . 2 reps even lied to us about things. This said we had a good second week and the hotel staff were only to keen to help the best they could. would go back to this hotel but not with Thompson's .

First thing is first. The people on here moaning about this hotel are obviously hard to please, and perhaps in future should book elsewhere other than a FAMILY hotel. We are not 'chavs' by the way, as the families were described by others, We are both hardworking and have kids who respect others. I am quite critical myself of.most hotels, but found very little of fault at the Avenida Salou. The appartment was comfortable and kept clean by the efficient maids. Kitchen has microwave, a hob, and every cooking utensil you could ever need. You probably won't need to use the kitchen area though, as you will eat like you have neer eaten before here. The restaurant was second to none. The vast choice and quality of food on offer, with theme nights into the bargain too was fantastic. Simply the best hotel restaurant I have experienced.
The pool was a bit cold, but considering it was October with less hours of sunshine, it is to be expected. The playpark and soft play area was great for our 18 month old. The football park was handy for our older kids. Access to the shops and beach is a few minutes walk. Excursions could be booked through the hotel, but we chose to go with Bus Plana, which was cheaper, but in hindsight I would not recommend. (organised chaos).
The reception, maid service, waitresses, and kidzone entertainers were all friendly and approachable and bent over backwards to ensure you were happy.
The only 'problems' at the hotel were that the room got cold through the night and could do with another few blankets in October, and the cockney entertainer through the day was pretty naff.
All in all, I would rate this hotel at 4.5/5. We will definately be back.

just got back from a 2 week stay,had read other reveiws so was a little worried about the hotel. anybody complaining about this hotel want 5star for the price of a 3star, the hotel was always very clean the reception staff could not be more helpful the restaurant was excellant if anything to much choice they even had a dieabetic section.the bar staff was always friendly and polite,and if you have kids you could not ask for more.besides the thomson kids reps the hotel had their own entertainers aswell.
Advice: nice place but seems to be going to a 6 month season
Activities: could catch a bargain at the markets

ive just come back from a 11 day holiday in aparthotel golden avenida park and it was the best holiday ever staff are so polite rooms excelent stayed in a room facing a road and thought this isnt good but was really good very quiet at night the rooms was done daily and if u didnt want anybody coming into room you had a sighn saying do not disturb or pleease make up room which was great 'i did read a report with some body saying fat chavs leaving kids running riot thats not at all true it was a very well run family hotel these people who moan that kids run riot and noise at night i think shouldnt book a family holiday more like a holiday for over 80s
Advice: its great people are nice shops bars resturants all near by beach to and loverly

just returned from this lovely clean hotel.everything was perfect,our meals were top class,our rooms were very spacious and very clean.the swimming pool is fantastic everything was brilliant we couldnt fault anything.just like to thank all the hard working wonderfull staff,especially the chefs "yum yum" well be back august 2010

We have just returned from this hotel after an 11 night stay and all I can say is the people who have written positive reviews for this place are either easily pleased or are the other 80% of Chavs who's behaviour over our 11 day stay was totally unacceptable.
Good Points.
Hotel staff very good and very helpful
The bar and the staff in the pool area were excellent
The Hotel is now looking old and worn-out but acceptable
Our room was reasonable and roadside but the noise was not to bad, however the walls are paper thin and you could hear everything from either side so if you are unfortunate enough to be next door to many of the chav families with hundreds of kids then all I can say is good luck.
The rooms were basic and the norm for Spain, the maids came in everyday and the cleanliness was acceptable
Bad Points
The complex is far to small for the amount of people Thomson's cram into the hotel, there is no room around the pool area and if you get there at 9.30am or later forget it go to the beach.
Every morning you must que at the glass automatic doors for a sunbed at around 8.20am and as soon as the doors open at 9.00am you had better be as quick as Lindford Christie the sprinter because if you don't all the best places and sunbeds were gone.
I have never seen anything like this, there were people running pushing and shoving and fighting for the sunbeds.
But the real problem was the majority of idiots who thought that they owned the place, in all my travels I have never been to a worse hotel for the behaviour of both adults and kids.
People just let thier brats run wild and totally let go of their responsibilities for their children.
I saw little children with just arm bands and could barely swim in the adult deep end of the pool with idiot adults and teenagers jumping and diving in all the time and all over the place with their parents totally unconcerned for their safety, the pool life guard did not do anything to stop this behaviour or stop little kids going in the deep end on their own, in all the time during our stay in fact I never saw him do anything.
On one occaision the pool was closed as some one had done their business "a No 2" in the pool and the rep had to scoop it out with his hand.
Many of these Chavs had purchased water guns and were spraying them about without any thought for the people who were reading or just sun bathing peacefully.
Relaxing holiday your having a laugh sitting by the pool was a nightmare and I would really like to warn all good people to stay way clear of this hotel.
To conclude I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy, in my opinion the hotel could be quite pleasant if the pool and other areas were supervised and policed correctly and the idiots punished when they step out of line.

stayed at the Avenida the first week in July 2009. Rooms are a good size with separate bedroom and were cleaned most days. Not too noisy after midnight (we has pool side 2nd floor room) The Pool is big, sunny and is clean - cant really fault anything. The hotel staff and the thomson reps both helpful and friendly and the food was really really good.
Above all the best thing is the location being only 5 mins walk to the strip and 10 to the beach it means that you are not trapped in on an evening and you can choose whether to stay and enjoy the shows (which we really quite good) or go into town.
Easy access to Fuertaventura by taxi (8 euros each way)also. We took the Barcelona city tour which was a good day out at 140 euros for the 4 of us.
All in all you cant really do much better than this for the price when visiting Salou.
Would definitely recommend the Avendida or the Sol Paramide where we stayed last year (more europeans, less Brits and Irish = less noise but less sunloungers from 6am onwards)

Just home from a 2 week stay at The Golden Avenida and wanted to let others know what a great time we had. We have stayed here before and have such a good time we wanted to return. The hotel is situated very close to everything Salou has to offer. Port Aventura is a 5 minute taxi journey away which cost about £6.oo. The hotel itself hasnt changed any since our first visit a few years ago-playpark area and crazy golf area could do with an upgrade but still had fun. David is by far the best thing about the place and we were greeted with a friendly OLA, HELOOOOOO every morning! The prices in the bar very really quite overpriced and we were shortchanged on a number of occasions as were others.
The funniest thing to see is at 9am when the doors open to the pool and there is a stampede to get sunbeds.If you dont manage to claim 1 you are left with no where to lie as there are by no means enough beds for all guests. All reps were fab although Dan was quite out of order sometimes with his jokes which is un called for in a family hotel.
All in all we had a great time and I would highly recommend the Golden Avenida to others looking for a good family holiday with plenty on offer for kids and adults alike.

I thought the best thing about the Golden Avenida Park was the entertainer David. I miss him so much! He just made everyone laugh and was great at doing the bingo. I loved his voice aswell it is just so funny ! I wish i could go back to the Avenida again just to see David! If you go to the Avenida and ask David about the girl who wrote him a poem and gave him a keyring with his name on thats me haha!
The hotel food at lunch is great and the breakfast and the buffet in the evening is just out of this world. The best food I have ever tasted anyway! The pool is nice and big and the holiday reps are great as they do excercises in the swimming pool for everyone. They are a great help aswell. The receptionists are great aswell as they are polite and are always willing to help you in directions and give you advice on good trips to go on.
I would love to go back there but not this year though as my Mum is making other holiday plans. But if anyone does go there please tell David the entertainer Holly(The Girl who wrote the poem ) said Hi and that I miss him haha!

I have just been to the Avenida with my husband, daughter and son and we had a great time there. The apartments were great they were cleaned every day, beds made and clean towels when you want them if you leave dirty ones on floor. Plenty of choice for food with roast beef and yorkshire puds, no one need go without. Lots to do for kids although we were all adults, we could see the fun they were all having. We had a pool veiw, but people were saying if you were on the roadside it could be noisy. Will be going back soon.

we had to transfer to this hotel just 2 days into out holliday it cost up abour 200 euro to transfer to this hotle but it was the best 200 euro i have ever spent i have been to this hotle befor and you can not fault it.
entertainment i fantastic best around with david and sarah and the girls. all the bar staff are very Good Esp Sarr he is the main man top guy !!!
would advise for anyone with children to book into this hotle as its fantastic. rooms are cleanded on a daily basis.
outside pool are very cold but you get used to it as the day goes on as it warms up a bit. if you dont like the cold go to the indoor pool very very Warm

Only booked one week before going, had never been to salou before but had heard lots about it, always read the reviews before going so this one seemed ok. Our apartment was clean and what you expect for a 3 star, the hotel and restaurant staff were friendly. we didnt eat until 8pm and always found the chefs making sure there was enough to eat. The hotel is a thomson family hotel so you expect lots of families around the pool but it never felt overcrowded there are always going to be the ones who have to have the sunbeds at 9am, but it never bothered us as we always got a sunbed no matter what time of day it was, the entertainment team keep the children occupied , the evening entertainment is a bit 1970's but there are lots of bars just a five minute walk away. we didnt experience any noise at night and found that the hotel went quiet around midnight, which i think you wouldnt find if you went into the centre of salou. Always ask for a pool view when booking as these are quieter rooms. Port Aventura is a must and can be done in a day if you dont want to see all the shows, take the bus to cambrils as salou beach gets overcrowded. The barcelona football and fountain is great but we booked through the rep and it seemed more expensive than the local operators. Overall Salou is a good resort for families as lots to do and a good base to get buses to see other parts of the area.
