I am just back from The Olive Gardens...

Jul 2008, Ms A Hendry

I am just back from The Olive Gardens Hotel. If you want a fantastic Turkish Holiday well don't go any where near this hotel. Yilmaz (the manager) aka ear muff is a igonarant man. We went on a self catering basis when we arrived he asked us for £10 (23ytl) a day per person for all inclusive. The horror stories that were circulating about the food well we are glad we didnt go all inclusive. The music is played so loud its hard to hear whom you are speaking to. If you ask for the music to be turned down you are told "Go to your room". Nazmi his young side kick is just as bad his English wife can be seen sitting at the side of the bar growling at any female who speaks to him. Surprisingly after 11pm all inclusive have to pay for drinks and if you have more than 2 drinks in front of you well expect a barrage of abuse. Air conditioning costs £3 per day. The kiddies water slide is switched on and off through out the day. If you get a sun lounger by the pool well good luck the pool was also cloudy and Yilmaz can be heard shouting pool closed at 6 -6.30pm. Yilmaz will also attempt to feel you up and when you decline or complain you will be told you are the only one. We found out the hotel had changed managment in April 08 as the last lot were even worse. I really find it hard to believe they could have been worse. You will be charged for everything from pool table to them trying to charge a couple 50 ytl for a broken door or they would cancel the couples transfers. the sheets are changed every 3 days with the towels when you ask. The self catering appartments are more roomy than all inclusive rooms (one woman smacked her head off the Tv) I found the juniour members of staff cheery and helpful but they dont speak much if any english and its hard to watch them being bullied by yilmaz and Nazmi.

please please don't go there. the rooms are ok, if you like a hard bed and pillow and paper sheet on the bed that is! also it can get very noisy and boy do all the sounds travel into your room. from youngsters getting in at whatever o'clock. to bedroom noises you really don't want to hear.
the pool however was very cloudy.probably due to the vast amount of chemicals put into it at 6pm when guests are thrown out.the twenty sunbeds were all reserved by 7.30am. the staff are very odd to say the least. from waiters throwing guests into the pool. to bar staff massaging a 10 year old! to the owner letting himself into young girls rooms and also stripping naked in front of them. he also propositioned a 16 year old who was with her grandmother.
the drinks included were watered down beer(i defy anyone to get tipsy on it). gin or vodka. no fruit juice for breakfast unless you paid for it. one day they did run out of beer and lemonade and we waited patiently while the waiter ran to the shop. also you are only allowed one drink at 11pm if you already have one you will not be served.
the food. oh dear, oh dear. as a cheap deal i did not expect much and breakfast was ok. the usual continental stuff. there are flies all over the food and birds nesting inside the restaurant roof above the food.lunch and dinner were 27 different salads. but they kept coming back till they were gone. two types of soup both resembling salty dishwater. and combinations of turkey or beef casserole which was then rehashed for the next meal.no fruit. no traditional turkish food. i cannot tell you how bad it was just that two couples paid to go home. unless you are self catering you will not survive this place unless you eat out every day.
the entertainment advertised only happened on 2 days out of 7 and the prize for bingo was a bag of crisps. the manager yilmaz(pronounced earmuff)was very nice and accomadating until you complained then treated you with contempt. i have just lived through an episode of "benidorm" but for comedy value i would rate it 10/10 as it made fawlty towers look organised!

Travelling to Turkey with friends, we booked 2 apartments at the Olive Gardens. They were very clean and comfortable. A nice touch was that the new towels were arranged with rose petals - demonstrated the caring attitude of the staff. The staff were excellent - very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. This was true of reception staff, bar staff, chamber maids etc. We had booked the apartments just as a base, so did not take meals at the hotel, though we were offered an excellent package had we wished to do so. The views from the apartments were stunning - a beautiful mountain backdrop. The grounds were well cared for. We can look back on a really enjoyable holiday and would definitely recommend these apartments.

This hotel is warm and friendly, clean and very comfortable, planning my next visit already, the hotel manager Yilmaz is a gentleman, and all this staff are friendly and helpful, without ever over stepping the mark! nothing is set to chance, a very well organized and run hotel. with lots of fun injected ie the flume is great fun and the staff join in and make it a real laugh.
I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone. My two teenage daughters are going next month alone,i have no concerns what so ever for their safety. There is lots to do, i suggest the 12 island boat trip it was amazing.
You'll have a great hoilday if u go to this hotel, the food, well there's a great choice and you'll not go hungry.

I came back from my holiday on monday...

Jun 2008, Mrs J Brooks

I came back from my holiday on monday 16/6/08. Just to warning everyone, this hotel is no good for people who have disability (walking) problems. We had my mum who is 70 years young and some times uses a wheel chair. It was hilly all around the hotel we had to get taxis all over ovacik and into the town of fetiyne. The staff were brilliant very friendly and could help more if you had a problem.
The food was a bit bland but we adapted to it.
The pool wasnt very big but there was a loverly garden near the reception, which was quite and nice.
When we arrived we were having a good time, until friday when more guests arrived. We had the couple from HELL who were in the room above us. They went on the beer all day and all night. When they went to bed at around 12 or 1am they would argue and fight with each other, until 4 or 5 am. They spoilt my holiday for me, i work long hours and earn my money to go on holiday to relax. I could not relax with all of the arguing above me. I was very tempted to make some noise in the mornings at 7 am when i got up, but i thought of others and didnt play this game.
When i reported it to the manager he asked if i would like to be moved, which i thought was good of them. The noise carried on again the next night on saturday, at 1 am i rang the reception and the manager answered the phone, he went upstairs and told them to keep the noise down. They didnt keep the noise down, they were issued with a formal warning if they were to make any more noise they would be thrown out of the hotel. Sunday our last night in the hotel, and NO NOISE it was great, maybe the warning worked, i dont know if they carried on arguing but we went home on monday.

May 2008, Miss D ALDRED

I have just returned from my holiday in Turkey staying in the Olive Garden Hotel in Ovacik and i have to say as i have been coming to Turkey for many years this is one of the best hotels i have stayed at. I found the staff very friendly and helpfull, the food and sevice was fantastic and the hotel itself and the rooms were brilliant and always cleaned to a high standard. I cant say anything about last year because i didnt come then but since then they have improved the hotel by changing the staff and management and also making the hotel itself bigger. For us it was one of the best hotels we stayed at everyone was so warm and welcoming we will defitinetly be coming back this september.

May 2008, Mr D Moore

a family run hotel run by loonatics the director who runs a side line estate agents in town. people beware of this man, he will charge for bottled water if guests go onto excursions, the food in hotel is by far the worse in turkey, no menue a set menue made up by sinan the cook who is about the best crook there. the other gardens are full of weeds and broken glass children can get hurt very easy, myself and my wife visited this hotel and we were very disapointed with the rooms the toilets were leaking, when reported the manager did not want to know this hotel is classed as two star we did not rate this place at all. the waiters are all related to one another and no body can speak english,
