" nice surprise "

When we booked this holiday we had a good deal so not too sure what to expect when we got there - really nice!
didn't have much to do with the staff, they were pleasant and helpful when we did have questions and queries. Very quiet while we were ther which suited us fine, we had a car so would drive around and get back and have a bit of swim in the pool - bit on the cool sde but ok when you got used to it!!!
Lovely apartments - fairly basic but enough for what we wanted, they were cleaned regulary.
You are near the airport but the planes don't bother you
there are plenty of places to eat nearby but nicer to go to the old town for a more authentic canary island meal.
The bars nearby are typical tourist ones but friendly people, reasonable price beer and bit of singing - easy night out!!!!!
would definatley come back to these apartments

Advice: Great area of Lanzarote - give it a try!

Activities: Something different hired a bike and cycled to Ariceffe along the new beach cycle path- brilliant

Good for: Beach

" Las Marinas May 09 "

Arrived at 8pm, door key under mat as reception closed. Good clean basic apartments at the top of a hill. Taxi from airport to apartments 9 euro. Taxi ride to Puerto Del Carmen 5 euros.
Pool area very quiet and no need to fight for a sunbed. 1 euro charge to hire matress for beds though. 10 minute walk to beach & restaurants. Reception staff extremely unfriendly, had breakfast a few mornings at the pool bar, served without any pleasantries or even a smile.
Matagorda is a very quiet resort. Discovered a beautiful restaurant called Jazz bistro and visited it 3 times in a week. Food was outstanding, top class.
Puerto del Carmen busier for nightlife and restaurants seemed less expensive than in Matagorda.
Lovely beach 8 euro daily for sunbed hire, could be quiet windy at times.

Advice: good resort for chilling out and having a relaxing holiday

Activities: favourite restaurant Jazz Bistro

" These were lovely apartments a 15... "

These were lovely apartments a 15 minute walk from the beach, shops and bars/restaurants. We chose a balcony apartment which meant we also had a sea view which was really nice. We were a 15 minute drive from the airport which meant we could see and hear planes landing when we were outside but the noise didn't disturb us at all. The pool at Las Marinas was smallish but always clean and, for most of our holiday, we had it entirely to ourselves. The rooms were cleaned regularly and we were really pleased with the size of the apartment - it was perfect for a couple. The facilities were adequate for cooking but with so many restaurants close by we usually didnt bother.
The shopping/nightlife/restaurant area was a mixture of tacky souvenir shops, several british bars and a variety of cuisine. This was fine for what we wanted but quite touristy - not somewhere to go to see the traditiional side of the island. However we enjoyed the food, which was reasonably priced and always accompanied by genuinely friendly service. We particularly recommed the sushi restaurant Sapporo. Also, the buses are regular, cheap and air conditioned, so for shopping its worth getting them to Puerto Del Carmen. All in all we really liked the holiday and would recommend the resort to anyone looking for a relaxing beach holiday.

We arived late in the evening and the reception was closed. Luckily we were saved by a large group of ladies fron Newcastle who searched under all the mats until they found our key!!! Apartments were nice and clean. Man on reception had a problem communicating, preferred to say as few words as possible and smiling was completely out of the question! The pool was lovely and everybody else were friendly. A short walk to the beach and a 5 euro taxi ride to the old town where there were beautiful fish restaurants overlooking the sea. Also live music and plenty of bars in that area. Would recommend Las Marinas.

" we stayed at the las marinas aparts... "

we stayed at the las marinas aparts in matagorda in october 2007, 6 of us altogether and had a fantastic time!!! So much in fact that we have booked again for this year! The aparts are just what you need for a relaxing break and a fab tan! Its set in a quiet area but is only a short taxi ride away from puerto del carmen, so you can have the lively nights too! The staff were pleasant and aparts basic, but clean, towels not changed that often though, but staff happy to change if asked!! A really relaxing atmosphere in lovely tranquil surroundings, set at the top of a steep hill, but good exercise after eating all the fantastic food!! Only set back is no music around the pool-nothing an ipod cant fix though!! highly reccommended for the price, a real bargain break!!

" Spent Christmas (2007) here with the... "

Spent Christmas (2007) here with the family and new found friends. Apartments were basic however cleaned daily to a high standard. Pool slightly cool- but it was December and didn't keep the kids away! Please note some families were more interested in getting a sun tan than watching their own children! Plenty of sun loungers for all- couldn't believe some people still claimed their spot each day- was fun to observe if you have a sense of humour.

Although apartments were a 10 minute walk away from the centre of Matagorda, this was a pleasant and non-exhausting. Local taxi service into neighbouring villages worth every euro -very good value. Local super markets save the hassle of carrying groceries and open to 10pm each night. Beautiful island will definitely return as felt all round was good family accomodation and value for money.

" I have just returned from a weeks... "

I have just returned from a weeks holiday in Lanzarote. We had an excellent time. Weather was great, nice wee breeze which makes it a lot easier to sunbathe. The apartments have everything you need, you have to pay for the remote control 2euros a day but, here's a hint, if you buy the remote for 1 day and take it back it still works for the whole week. We like a bargain!! The receptionist was reasonably unfriendly and so was the lady working in the pool bar area. The pool area is very nice and clean.

Matagorda is reasonably quiet, however busy Puerto del Carmen is a 5min taxi ride away. There are so many restaurants and bars to choose from. We had an excellent meal in a restaurant called Las Casscada, its very busy and the surroundings are beautiful. Make sure to visit the old town, there is a shopping mall with a massive Zara and Mango which my sister and I had a ball in. P.S don't take the boyfriends, they just get in the way! Down at the Pier in the old town there are some lovely restaurants. The prices are very reasonable.

NIGHTLIFE - the nightlife is brilliant although you get hassled from the PR people to drink in their pub, that can be quite annoying. There are clubs also, the drinks are fairly cheap, its generally buy one get one free on most drinks including cocktails which is well worth it. You can even eat really late if you are hungry after the nightclub, there are loads of chinese restaurants open until all hours.

I would thoroughly recommend a winter break to Lanzarote!!

Have a nice holiday.

" Hi we have just returned from a weeks... "

Hi we have just returned from a weeks holiday in Matagorda - Las Marinas. We had excellent weather and the accommodation was great apart from the BED BUGS. My 11 year old daughter and myself had the upstairs bedroom in No 26 and on the Saturday I started with a horrendous rash all over my body but worse on my upper arms. I killed a couple of unknown insects in our room whilst there. On return after attending the docs and doing some research on these insects they were found to be BED BUGS. I would just like to warn anybody travelling to these apartments who do find themselves coming out in a rash to report this to the reception as I did not do this because I was not aware of the cause then at that time, and I will not be returning to these apartments due to this.

" For a short winter break this was... "

For a short winter break this was excellent value - friendly and just the right size.

The maid service was thorough and always with a smile and some help with adding to my Spanish vocabulary. Pool area was very clean and well protected from wind even though it was on top of a hilly area.

Bus stop was close, taxis closer, and with 3 days car hire it meant shopping was no problem for heavier things if planned well. Quieter than Puerto del Carmen, but that suited the chill out factor.

I would go again - perhaps for the whole month of November, as I know the area and could hire any electrical equipment necessary. Was seriously thinking of buying property here for winter visits - hence the repeat visits to Matagorda - but somewhere like this would do nicely instead!

" My husband, 11 month old daughter and... "

My husband, 11 month old daughter and I stayed in the Las Marinas apartments for a week in Feb '06.

The accommodation was very clean and had everything we needed. You could hire anything else that you might require (DVD players etc) from reception for a fairly reasonable price.

The apartments were very pram friendly as there were ramps anywhere that there were stairs and our apartment was on a single level although they are on the top of a fairly steep hill which we could manage with the pram but if you had a wheelchair it would not be recommended!

The reception staff were excellent. Great for local knowledge. They recommended the Matagorda Park Restaurant to us the first night but we had a look and went elsewhere. We ended up going there on the last night and it was the best meal we had all week.

Matagorda itself is very clean and has a lovely promenade. There is a square which has loads of restaurants in it - Chinese, Greek, Indian (bit pricey! They charged an 800% markup on their wine from the supermarket price), Japanese and the usual Pizza, Pasta, Steak places that you get in Spain with pictures of the food outside. It is quiet though - but with that came peace when choosing a restaurant as there were no touts trying to drag you into places.

We had a great time and would recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing break.
