Rooms not clean, particularly the bedsheets. I only had to watch the cleaner, using the same dirty mop going from the bathroom through the other rooms. The reception/bar closes at about 4 every day. They charge you about £12 a day to use the remote for the tv & about £20... more

great place, but they are selling the appartments so dont go there, they have work men in them all the time getting them ready for the new owners and the pool bar is only open from 10 till 2 no food after 1, matagora its self is a lovely place, there are some other lovely hotels and appartments so if i were you, go to another.

These were lovely apartments a 15 minute walk from the beach, shops and bars/restaurants. We chose a balcony apartment which meant we also had a sea view which was really nice. We were a 15 minute drive from the airport which meant we could see and hear planes landing when... more

Peaceful and serene
We arrived on the 14th December 2006 and were so surprised at the lovely warm weather for this time of year. The welcome from staff was lovely and the apartment superb. Very clean and kept clean through the daily maid service. The apartments are set in a very quiet area but suited us as we didn't want noisy bars around us. The pool area was nice and the water warm. Taxi's were plentiful into the main town and harbour and v. cheap, 4 euro. Would recommend totally.
Surprisingly Quiet
Braced ourselves for some ear-splitting air traffic after finding out the location - never happened. Surprisingly quiet despite its proximity to the airport. 10-15 minute walk to the beach. Apartments comfortable and well equipped. Pool area adequate. Bus stop not too far or 30 minute walk in to PDC. Good VFM.
very nice and peaceful
this is a lovely small complex in a very peaceful setting the rooms are kept very clean and for the size of the complex it has a huge pool, there is a cafe bar, and reception will arrange sightseeing or car/bike hire for you if you wish ,it is about ten minutes walk to the beach and bars or a taxi ride into del-carmen(5 euros) also the airport is 5 mins away saying that there is very little aircraft noise as the planes come in off the sea if you are looking for a peaceful holiday this is a great little complex
Love Las Marinas
A bit confused after reading the last review about it not being a 4 star hotel. These are self catering apartments? We went in February this year and found them to be clean and very pleasant. The staff were nice and helpful and even though the bar area was closed at 5pm (we were off season) it wasn't a problem. Food at this bar is very much your toasties, salads, chips and eggs etc but a short walk takes you into a really nice area with good restuarants or you can take a 5 min cab journey to the old part of PDC with its lovely restuarants. Fab apartments and we will be going back.
BEWARE ,THIS IS NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL. NON BIAST READ ON.
THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON HOW WE FOUND THE HOTEL AS A FAMILY. BASED ON PREVIOUS FAMILY HOLIDAYS IN 4-5 STAR HOTELS THROUGHOUT EUROPE .We stayed one week. GOOD POINTS, The apartments are large, Lounge, bathroom, small kitchen and a bedroom.(NO HOT WATER FOR 3 DAYS WE WERE TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL AND TO RUN ALL THE TAPS FOR 2 HOURS BEFORE WE HAD A SHOWER) Sun -the weather was hot with a cool breeze. The staff were friendly. (APART FROM THE MANAGEMENT TEAM) Taxis are cheap. BAD POINTS There was no lifts so we had to carry our childs pram up and down the stairs. There was no help with luggage(not handy if your older) The food was VERY POOR both in selection and quality. The tiled areas around the pools were not cleaned the whole week we were there, there was milkshake and sticky drinks on the tiles when we arrived and still there when we left. NOW THE ENTERTAINMENT, The entertainment was a disgrace there was a mini disco on 5 nights 9pm-10pm, Supervised by a young guy who informed me that he had not been trained and was left himself as the other 2 helpers had dissapeared weeks ago and not returned. Apart from the heavy drinkers and their children, most others went to bed. The adult entertainment was non existant .No live music, no dancing, Oh yes a parrot show consisting of 1 hour taking pics and charging 10 euros a pic and 20mins of parrots playing which the kids enjoyed. THE CHILDRENS PLAY AREAS Are in very poor condition with ripped safety mats an old broken play shed,2 old swings and a plastic slide,The area was dirty. THE INDOOR POOL AND FITNESS CENTRE IS MORE GEARED FOR THE LOCALS. NO CHILDREN ARE ALLOWED IN THE INDOOR POOL.(NOT VERY PRACTICAL IF YOU ARE THERE AS A FAMILY) THE TENNIS COURTS WERE MOSTLY UNAVAILABLE AND CONSTANTLY USED FOR LOCAL CHILDRENS LESSONS. The hotel is about a 30min stroll to the town, there is a courtesy bus but be aware if your not quick you will have to walk as seats are limited. No English tv channels apart from cnn. THE MANAGER NEVER ONCE APPROACHED , US OR ANYONE ONE ELSE WE CHATTED WITH TO ASK OUR OPPINION ON THE HOTEL. WE WERE DISSAPOINTED, THIS IS AN HONEST REVIEW
Clean, friendly accomodation
My husband, 11 month old daughter and I stayed in the Las Marinas apartments for a week in Feb '06. The accomodation was very clean and had everything we needed. You could hire anything else that you might require (dvd players etc) from reception for a fairly reasonable price. The apartments were very pram friendly as there were ramps anywhere that there were stairs and our apartment was on a single level although they are on the top of a fairly steep hill which we could manage with the pram but if you had a wheelchair it would not be recommended! The reception staff were excellent. Great for local knowledge. They recommended the Matagorda Park Restaurant to us the first night but we had a look and went elsewhere. We ended up going there on the last night and it was the best meal we had all week. Matagorda itself is very clean and has a lovely promenade. There is a square which has a couple of supermarkets and gift shops and loads of restaurants in it - Chinese, Greek, Indian (bit pricey! They charged an 800% markup on their wine from the supermarket price), Japanese and the usual Pizza, Pasta, Steak places that you get in Spain with pictures of the food outside. It is quiet though - but with that came peace when choosing a restaurant as there were no touts trying to drag you into places. We had a great time and would recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing break.
Lovely Holiday
The Las Marinas accommodation was extremely good and spotlessly clean. All staff were very friendly. The only bad comment is that although we visited in January the bar shut 6 pm . The shopping centre was excellent for food of all kinds--Chinese/Italian/Indian/Japanese/English and all at good prices. We would visit again but later in the year Graham & Sue

Las Marinas
Excellent clean accomodation as was when we were there three years ago.Lovely BBQ on Thursday evening and staff very helpful and accomodating. Very quiet-not for the young set looking for night life.Plenty of great eating places within a 10 minute walk. Will definitely be back.
fabulous
spent 2 weeks with wife and 2 daughters aged 12@14 . apartments were lovely ,clean and spacious . cleaners were in every day. pool was lovely although a bit on the cold side. small bar/ resteraunt on site was good with friendly staff(british) and served up good food. beach front with shops, selection of bars, resteraunts and large supermarket only 5/10 mins walk down slope. main resort of peutro del carmen only 5mins/ 5euro taxi ride loved the holiday and would recommend it to all .
