This was our second visit to Lykia World, our first was in September 04 with a 10 week old and a 2 year old. We loved it then and we loved it even more this time as we could do so much more.
The kids club for 3-5 year olds is ok but ours got a little board (they took both our 4 and 2 year old together). They only went in for a couple of hours on three days as they wanted to play with their friends in the pool other times. The older kids seemed to be having a great time with all the activities they could undertake.
Children’s Paradise is even better than before with new slides which are fantastic. The only problem we had was securing clean towels and sun beds - get there first thing in the morning to avoid disappointment!
The food was great and we all ate too much! We went during half term so the place was full. If you want a meal for a group of four or more (we had friends with us) then make sure you get to the restaurants before they open and sit at a table.
The animation team, evening theatre, and disco was great for all ages - they really know how to give you an enjoyable holiday. For those who just want peace and quiet then there are plenty of places to get away from it all including a no kids area.
Our room was fine although the air conditioning did not get our room that cool. From recollection we did not have this problem last time.
Would we go again for a third time - yes without question. We are already talking about going in two years time... somewhere different for next year though!

You can believe the hype, this place is fantastic!
Just a quick note to anyone confused by the difference between any of the many ways this place is referred to in brochures -Lykia World/Lykia World Hotel/Lykia Village/Club Lykia Village/Lykia Residence etc etc - they're all basically the same thing, the difference being the accommodation you get.
Lykia World is one big resort, made up of the "residence" (aka the hotel) and the "village". All the facilities are shared though - you won't find someone standing at the entrance to the residence pools turning you away because you're staying in the village accommodation!
Anyway, onto the review. My party consisted of two adults and kids aged 17, 7 and 2
And we went for a week at the end of April/beginning of May. It was quite quiet at this time of year so we had no problem getting sunbeds etc, though I can imagine it does get busier in high season.
Accommodation - we stayed in a family room in the village which consisted of two large bedrooms (one of which also had a sofa), a bathroom and a walk in closet room (which we found handy for changing!).
Plus there was a small balcony out front. It was all very clean, well-kept and comfortable with a notable mention to the power shower that was certainly that!
Beach - the beach is private to Lykia World and can't really be accessed by anyone else since it's in a bay. It's mainly stones but there are patches of sand (to make your sandcastles!).
There are free sunbeds (and towels) and when we were there, there was absolutely no rush to get one. The sea was beautiful and clear (if a little chilly in May!)
Pools - it's true there are loads of these. However, many of them aren't heated so if you're going when we did some of them are rather "fresh". We spent most of our time at the "children's paradise" which is a whole section of pools apart from the main adult pool, partly because the kids absolutely loved all the slides and things and partly because it had a couple of heated pools!
Again there was no problem getting a sunbed and they provide free towels.
Food - this was great, so great that I'm sure we all came back a few pounds heavier. It's buffet style where you help yourself, but this is no case of semi-cold burgers and chips.
There are a horde of chefs cooking a large variety of stuff as you watch and I have to mention the glorious deserts, which we often ended up having three or four of because they looked so amazing!
Though it's classed as full-board, you can get free food outside generously long main meal times as well, since they have a "late breakfast" in the morning and a "snack line" in the afternoon.
You can also use your rooms keycard to buy drinks at the bars (they don't accept cash), so you do need to be a bit wary of how much you're putting on your tab.
The pricing of things can get rather confusing as they tend to give prices in Euros, but also accept pounds or Turkish Lira.
Activities - the range of activities on offer is almost bewildering at times, and I have to admit we didn't make that much use of them since we're a bit lazy. However, if you like activities, there's plenty of sporty things to do.
Staff - all the staff we encountered were exceedingly helpful, friendly and efficient - and there's loads of them meaning you never have to wait long at the bar or for someone to clean your food away at dinner.
This is Turkey though, so a few of the male staff can be a bit "over-friendly" if you're a woman (and have a pulse), but it's all very harmless flirting. The entertainers are a jolly bunch and again there are a whole team of them catering for the kid’s right through to the adults.
Location - perhaps one small minus point about Lykia World is that it's not really in Olu Deniz as such, being about 3km from the town. This is good if you don't want to go off resort (and you don't really need to!) but a bit of a minus if you like going for evening strolls/entertainment elsewhere.
Not that there is much to Olu Deniz. We got a taxi there one day (which was called for us by reception and turned up almost straight away) to go and buy some presents etc. The return trip cost about £10.
Olu Deniz is a typical tourist resort with a main street of tacky gift shops and a beach. Really there's not much point in going there - Lykia World itself is much nicer.
Lykia World is set in a stunning bay, bounded by hills, but as you can imagine this means it's a bit up and down when it comes to walking around the extensive grounds.
Luckily there's a free bus that shuttles you between the beach, reception and children's pools if you're feeling lazy!
Weather - the weather was very good, about 25/26 degrees every day. There were a couple of days when it was a bit hazy in the morning and not quite so warm and one evening when it actually rained (but it was fine and sunny again by morning).
Overall I would highly recommend Lykia World.
One final (cautionary) mention must go to Dalaman airport and the most over-inflated drinks prices in the world ever! Whatever you do, make sure you have some drinks with you on the return trip as we had to pay £13 for 3 cans of coke and a coffee.
It's ok once you get on the plane as prices return to sanity, but if you've got to wait an hour or two after check-in have something with you.

WOW! What else can I say?
I read these reviews before we went on our holiday and was worried that our expectations of it then would be that high, we would be disappointed when we got there.
Well we had the best holiday ever! Considering it was a bit last minute and I just came across it while looking for somewhere to keep our overactive 8 year old happy.
Well happy he certainly was, the kid’s animation team are fantastic, and the programme that is put on for the kids is the best I've seen.
It's so flexible you know what they are doing where and at what time and you can sign them in and out of the club as you wish.
The show they put on with all the kids taking part was fab, how they manage to pull the show off to look so professional with such a short period of time with the kids was amazing.
We were in "L" Block. We found this a great position to be in being close to all the village amenities, not too far to walk.
Food was fantastic, you could eat all day if you wanted to and as for the quality and attention to detail.
Can't think of anything to complain about really, oh except the strange bed clothes, we had a massive bed and it seems they don't have bed clothes to fit them, as we had 2 small sets on overlapped, so got a bit tangled up in them sometimes.
All the staff were great, friendly & helpful.
My husband can be a hard one to please sometimes, but we will definitely be going back! Again and again I suspect.
There is something there for everyone, so what are you waiting for?
Oh and they have a loyalty type card that you can apply for which you gain points on for your stay, extras you buy and if you recommend anyone.
So anyone that is going you're welcome to contact us for our membership number to quote to say we recommended you, we may get enough points for a free stay.

Been to Lykia world four times in the last two years. Overall a fantastic holiday and in October 2006 my sister and her partner got married their by the marina pool, what a fantastic place.
All the staff were brilliant, they couldn’t do enough especially Hakan who we still chat to. The only negative things were the honey bees and wasps, if they don’t sting you your one of the luck ones.... food fantastic, staff wicked... will be returning without doubt in 2007

Unbelievable holiday, was a bit worried because of the size of the place but kept asking where has everyone gone.
This place is so big you never feel crowded. Staff are so friendly and helpful and try hard to please. We had a problem and met Mike the Boss (Who ever thought you would meet a Scot in a kilt in Turkey) after our meeting we felt guilty of complaining.
It was nice to know management do care and do something about the problem. How do you try and keep so many people happy (ask him).
Watersports Diving were fantastic and so much to do. You didn’t need to go out of the resort for anything.
If you have kids, WOW, you can guarantee a holiday of a lifetime for them. Only downside eventually you have to go home. Never mind there is always next year.

Lykia World is a wonderful complex. If you are a 'joiner' there's loads to do, but if you prefer to opt out, you can seek quieter pool areas and be left alone.
The kids area is the size of a small village at the top end of the complex and has everything in it, including many pools. The remaining pools are beautifully kept and there were always spare sunbeds, which were the most luxurious I've ever laid on!
There are two immaculate beaches, and we were able to swim at the end of October because the sea was so warm.
The food is superb, with a hugely varied selection from freshly cooked crab to jacket potatoes and so much in between.
The rooms were looking a little tired around the edges when we went, but it was the last week of their season and certainly nothing to complain about. Hope you like looking at yourself though, because there are mirrors on almost every surface!
The evening entertainment was good and varied family fun. The staff throughout were helpful, polite and efficient. The only thing, you are a taxi ride away from Olu Deniz, it cannot be walked by beach and I wouldn't recommend hiking the 4km along the cliff side road.
Overhead, there was a constant stream of para-gliders (amazing to watch) and at Lykia they had a "flying boat" which was spectacular and not very expensive. It's easier if you take mostly Euros, as everything is priced in Euros and they are easier to use if you have left overs.
A great place, but the weather in that part of Turkey can be very changeable in October, so you may not get all the hot sunny days you'd hope for.

I went to Lykia world this May. I thought it was fantastic. There is so much to do for all ages.
The facilities, rooms, food, staff and everything else is outstanding.
There is so much to do that we did not get everything finished this year and we are returning next May to continue were we left off this year.
I would recommend this holiday to absolutely anybody.

Our holiday didn't get off to the greatest start with 3 crazy days of constant rain, thunder, lightning, mud slides, more rain.... you get the picture! The worst weather for 30 years apparently? Wasn't over impressed with some of the personnel employed by Thomas Cook either.
Anyway we made the most of it and the fantastic facilities there. I have to say the Animation Team were absolutely top drawer with their shows and their friendliness. The kids Club personnel were a dream, easily marking them 10/10 and couldn't thank them enough for their efforts - our 6 year old cried when he left them after they'd become so attached!
The food there is also excellent. I thought’d be putting on the pounds but generally it was healthy stuff and with doing plenty of water sports I came home lighter! Some of the activities you pay for are well worth it, especially paragliding - our 6 year old did that too!
The only downside for me was I expected the Residence accommodation to be a bit more up-to-date and they really need to do something about the thousands of wasps around the outside eateries and the kids world pools and slides. Recommended already to other families and we will be going back there!

Well, I’m 16, but thought I would post a review, I think my review will be helpful for any teenagers going to Lykia World.
All I can say was that it was the best holiday I have been too. I mean last year I went Disneyworld and this holiday beat that. It is definitely a place for all ages, families and kids a like. The best part about it was that it was massive, so many new people to meet as well. The Turkish people are so nice, sometimes a little too friendly, with being the age I was you get a lot of attention from shop keepers, one even asked my friend to marry her, so be careful.
The accommodation was great. I loved the newly done bathroom with massive sliding mirrors and the shower room with two showers in!! Don’t really get mosquitoes, well we didn't. The crickets are annoying though but you kind of miss hearing them when you get back home again.
As like all the reviews have said, the food is great, so much choice.
What I want to talk about is the nightlife. Oh my god never had so much fun in my life. I loved the night shows so good, really professional. The way you sat outside was a great idea. They always had something on after, the disco was really good, and one night had a foam party, another had an inline skate show which I ended up being a volunteer in, the children's festival gala was amazing, the effects were unbelievable and the fire works were fantastic.
The teenage club is a real must. I did jet skiing, banana boats etc really fun and you get to meet so many people.
The animators - well they were amazing. So funny. Mr Deniz well we fell in love with him, the problem is all of them were so HOT!!! So beware, your hearts may be broken when you come home. The village pool games were so fun, doing a lot thing on a surf board and stuff.
It is like living in a massive home, because it’s so friendly. I hope I can go again next year.

Myself and best friends have just come back from Lykia world - My God it was the best place I have ever been to.
Our room was unbelievable - a double sea view which was breath taking with satellite TV, hairdryer, mini bar, dressing table, big wardrobe, a sofa! Gorgeous bathroom - but with no door on the bathroom - so slightly open - do what we done and hang a sheet up from the towel rail to the window!
The Animation team - hats off to them - they were simply fantastic. We got to know these really well and we loved all of them they made you feel so, so, so welcome and they were always smiling, they work such long hours in the hot weather and yet never a dull face. The shows were fantastic! I was laughing so much I was in tears most of the time.
The food was brilliant, you had so much to choose from, you found a plate and just kept walking and walking finding new things to eat!
The village swimming pool was out of this world - the views were remarkable looking right over the sea and mountains - Wow. at 4pm they would have a few people from the animation team and maybe from the kids club and play games with the guests, you don’t have to play if you don’t wish to - or if you don’t want to see them altogether - there is an adults only area where you will not be disturbed at all - no kids allowed.
The evening entertainment - I just can’t describe how brilliant it was, when we left we were that sad we did actually shed a tear! We met some fantastic people out there and just did not want to leave them - found a holiday romance each and was really sad to leave!
Without a doubt we are booking up to go next year - 100% to all staff. Best place I have visited. Thank you Lykia.

A very nice place. I was a bit scared by the recent comments on worsened service, dirty dishes, mosquito and wasps etc. but those appeared to be not true in my case (maybe I was lucky enough though.
Upon arrival we were very positively surprised - new airport in Dalaman, opened just this summer (2006). Large, spacious building, no hassle.
Riviera's minibus was very convenient and we got surprised once more - new tunnel has just been built, so that we saved about 20-30 min of mountain roads (took about an hour to get to Lykia, even though we were dropping other tourists to their hotels on the way).
We stayed in the Village, Lymra (L) blocks, type 1. Very nice room on level 2, close to reception and main bar/restaurant which was especially comfortable. We even didn't have (or almost never had) to use a/c, it never got more than 26C in the room.
The main restaurant was just great - you can visit it almost all day long because they have breakfast, brunch, lunch, then snack line and then dinner which are all included in their Full Board+ system. The only thing you need to pay there for if you want is fresh juice (2EUR/glass). The local wine is by the bottles (ask waiter), and a very good wine indeed I should say. We also tried Marina restaurant twice, it was nice too.
I'm afraid I cannot give you any more comments besides what's already been said except one negative thing (that's why 9 out of 10). The pools in Kid's Paradise were very cold, the water temp. Was reported 24C on info board but I suspect it was even colder. We managed to find one or two heated pools there but they weren't suitable for small kids I would say (deep, with big slides). So you need to be careful not to catch cold (our kid unfortunately did, in fact).
All in all, a fantastic place to visit, surely worth trying.
I would be happy to help with more details, just please ask me if you have questions.
P.S. Staff is friendly, I had no problems with miscommunication or inattentiveness, the hotel seems to operate in 4 languages - Turkish, English, German and Russian, personnel wears badges where you can see which language they can speak.

Contrary to most of the reviews I read prior to our visit, this was the worst holiday I have had.
We arrived during half term to an overbooked resort. I travelled with my partner and 3 children, age 9,7 and 6months.
We booked our holiday through MyTravel in January, initially we found Lykia World on the internet but found the room descriptions confusing so we called MyTravel.
The agent we spoke to was also confused, we gave a list of requirements: minimum of 2 separate sleeping areas, no steps [baby’s buggy] and near to the hub/reception as we had been told the place was vast.
The agent told us he would confirm all our requirements, this he did in a call later that day. We arrived at 2am to be taken to our accommodation which was a full 10 minute walk up 2 flights of steps.
We opened the door to be greeted by a room that in my opinion was big enough for no more than 2 people and in the hotels literature for a maximum of 4 (room p141).
We complained immediately to be told nothing could be done till the morning. MyTravel reps confirmed they had made a mistake in England but could not move us that day as hotel was fully booked.
We were eventually moved to interconnecting rooms for which I had to pay an extra £180.The MyTravel reps were not interested in our plight and felt they had done us a favour.
Now to the resort: We felt we were on a constant route march to fit in with meal times and when we arrived at the various restaurants we were greeted by dirty tables rude staff and a race for food.
To get a sunbed you had to be up by 6.30am by 7am all beds had been reserved needless to say we sat on the grass if a space was available.
There was a towel service whereby you exchanged your towels whenever you liked, this was not true as on 7 of the 9 occasions we tried to exchange towels there were none available so we had to use other guests dirty towels.
Not only were towels and sunbeds in short supply so on various occasions were spoons, bowls, ice cream, and indeed manners.
To summarise we felt we were treated with disdain throughout by the hotel and MyTravel. Too many people were crammed into the resort in the half term week and therefore I think one word describes Lykiaworld and MyTravel perfectly - GREEDY!
Never again.
