Submitted By: stoogzieThe hotel was nice and quaint. The food was okay but it was the same most nites and there wasnt reali a selection it did let the hotel down. The entertainment isnt verry good eitha and young kids will get bored. a walk in to nerja town is a must .. the balon de europa is stunning and theres nice restrants and bars in the square too.
" Overall very good value hotel.
On arrival our first impressions were that hotel did need some updating. Our room smelt of smoke but as cleaners usually leave doors and windows closed in between guests we found that the smell disappeared as soon as we opened the door and windows and was not noticeable thereafter. We had a poolside twin room and yes the entertainment does continue until 11.30 pm and talking at poolside tables until quite late but we were not unduly disturbed as we tended to stay up until midnight anyway. If it was really bad yes earplugs do help.
From talking to other people, it can be noisy on the road side with nightly waste collection and morning cleaners.
Food was overall very good with sufficient choice to please most tastes - plenty of fruit in the mornings plus full english type and continental type breakfasts. In the evening very good range of salads to start. Main meals could be a bit repetative and vegetables somewhat overcooked but all in all there was plenty of good food to be had if you chose wisely.
We enjoyed the nightly entertainment - it might not always have been first class but this is not Las Vegas and the price we paid for the holiday reflected that.
Hotel well situated for beach and town. Staff hard working and attentive. Pool adequate as many with young families tended to go to the beach. Quite a few sun beds in need of replacement - some were breaking as people sat on them!!

Submitted By: Ms M FGreat beach front restaurants doing BBQ fish & meat. All reasonable prices. Hotel breakfast buffet style, bit samey, but adequate, but the coffee wasn’t great! Bit of a crush to get in the dining room, think they added the annexe rooms and didn’t expand the dining room.
Entertainment every night, again a bit repetitive but ok. Very warm relaxing week, Nerja is a joy. Bus ride to Frigliana worth a look, and the donkey sanctuary, a 10 minute walk from Nerja town centre is a must.

Submitted By: Mr A MilliganThe next day we arranged to meet with the manager who conveniently had popped out for a while and could not be contacted. On returning he told us a different story that our room had been damaged by storms the previous week but when we asked to see the room he became extremely irate and ended the conversation.
We spent the week at Nerja Club Hotel where the staff could not have been friendlier and confirmed that this "movement" of business was common practice with Hotel Flamenca. Other guests at the hotel advised us that we were much better off in the new hotel since they had had previous experience of Flamenca.
I would certainly never do business with Hotel Flamenca again and would strongly advise others to avoid it.
" Initial impressions of this hotel... "
Submitted By: Mrs C TurnerMany of the surrounding private properties were the traditional white villas or apartments - very pretty area. Our balcony faced the mountains, which suited us as we preferred the spectacular views rather than the constant sun (NB mountain views get no sun) and we found this side of the hotel was very peaceful.
Staff were pleasant and helpful and we found the meals to be of a high standard. The local area was easily accessed, with all local highlights being within walking distance.
My only criticism of the hotel was that at the time of our visit the main clientele seemed to be more elderly - as a young 50+ and well travelled I felt very young compared to the pace of others in this hotel.
However, I enjoyed my holiday overall - it suited my purpose and should I require a relaxing environment I would return.

Nerja is lovely and we will go back but not to here.
" Never again Villa Flamenca!

Earlier (19-25, Aug. 2005) Bastian wrote a positive review about this hotel. Was Bastian in some other Villa Flamenca than me? My impressions are totally opposite. First of all, Bastian writes about "quiet location" and "no disturbing sounds". On the contrary, you will not have an opportunity to sleep at night! The following things are quite disturbing:
Musical performances till midnight every day. If you like to listen a loud music before sleep, you can do it together with other people sitting in the yard and clapping hands. If you don't like it, you have to listen the music in any case. You will hear it even if you close all windows, even if you live on the other side of the hotel, looking to the street, not to the yard.
The street is not central but still many cars drive there at night. Some of them also run their sound systems at full power, this will give you more musical enjoyment, also after midnight.
Motorcycles, I don´t know is this a special loud sort of motorcycles, or the streets of Nerja have this special acoustics, but you will wake up and hear every of them.
A super dimensional truck loading tons of beaten glass punctually at 4am. It may be a garbage collection service, but you will perceive it namely in this way when it will wake you up.
A large device on the building nearby, possibly ventilation system, produces permanent noise.
At 6am hotel maids will go here and there under your window speaking in very loud voices. They don't care about your sleep. Why damn you sleep at 6am when the breakfast starts at 8am?
What you can really do against this?
Ear plugs. I think the hotel must spare them for everyone. (But they would probably cost 17,50, like the price for TV in your room.)
You can decide to sleep at daytime instead of night and you can nicely do siesta from 14:00 till 17:00 in the yard near the pool, when there are a few people there.
At night you can do something else, e.g read a book, write a negative review about the hotel etc.
The hotel asks not to leave towels and other stuff on the balcony. Bastian "ignored" this advice and the stuff was stolen. OK, but where should I dry my towel? In WC it will not dry out, because there is no ventilation at all, and in the room it's not enough air for me to breath. As a result, ALL people ignore this wise advice and dry their towels on the balconies. If it will be stolen, you can buy a new one for 7,50 in the city.
BREAKFAST AND DINNER: Bastian wrote about variety of dishes and wonderful taste. For me it looks more like student canteen not a restaurant. There is a variety but you must enjoy it with a care. I would personally recommend only
* bacon & eggs at the breakfast
* roast beef & rice at the dinner
* ice cream & peaches for dessert
and you will have a minimum probability to poison yourself. Bastian wrote about some sleepless nights after the dinner. I'm sure, this is not because he ate a lot, he probably got
something not fresh. (And because of usual night symphony of course.) Special advice: do not taste coffee at breakfast, you will vomit. Don't drink tea as well, it smells fish.
LOCATION: Bastian wrote about nice and pleasant mountains visible from the hotel. I don't know which viewpoint he looked from. From the hotel one mainly sees the walls of other buildings.
THE SEA and THE BEACH: yes, if you will go all the way down the hill, in 500m you will be at the beach Burriana. The problem is that way back will be uphill, moreover you cannot get anywhere from this beach. The beach is isolated by rocks from all sides and you cannot walk to the next one except of climbing 50m high stairs up and down. If you are in good form, it will even make a joy, if not, you are not lucky. The only beach where you don't need to climb is called La Torrecilla and it is located at the other end of the city. It will take you an hour to walk there from the hotel.
IN SUMMARY: you can go to Villa Flamenca only if
* you have nerves of steel
* you always look on the bright side of life
* you don't allow anything or anybody to destroy your vacation.
Then you will survive. Other more exotic opportunities:
* you are masochist and like when somebody tortures you
* you absolutely don´t care about quality of your life
* you have two vacations, and when you will return home you can enjoy the second one.
Otherwise I do not advise you to stay at Villa Flamenca. You can have hysterical attack, like our neighbour English lady, crying and screaming "I wanna go home!!!!!!"
" Very disappointing. Booked this as... "
Submitted By: Mrs D PryorOur room 410 was dirty, small, balcony was so tiny. The furniture in the room was nothing like what’s shown in the video.
Would go back to Nerja again a wonderful place never go to this hotel again.

My main gripe about the hotel is the food, especially the breakfast. Powder scrambled eggs, reconstituded sausages, bacon like you`ve never seen before, watery orange juice and coffee with no coffee taste, anyway we had one breakfast all trip. Bogadillos and coffee at the local bar was great. . . .
Nerja is a great place with lots to do at all times of the day and night, unfortunatly because the hotel caters for the older generation the bar closes at midnight so no last baillys at the bar after your walk home. If your under 50 and enjoy a bit of independence book somewhere else.
Advice: Great
Activities: Ayos
Good for: Beach
