" When I saw the website, modern,... "
Submitted By: Ms R Bond
When I saw the website, modern, sleek, inviting. I was instantly taken. Turns out I was taken for a ride!
We booked the Check in, Chill out package and splashed out the extra for the ocean view plus an extra night. Thank goodness for the view! Spoke to fellow guests and apparently the non-sea view rooms were pitiful (overlooking pipes!). When it comes to the room, the view is the only thing worth mentioning.
Ok, maybe I should mention the pub carpet on the hallways, with matching squeaky floor boards, the plastic toilet seat, and the place looks like a halfway house under 15 layers of paint. Instant reaction upon entering rooms is, Budget!
Food was, there really is only one word for it, Disgusting! Alarm bells rang when just 1 minute after ordering our starters appeared at our table, obviously pre prepared and not a good start. The mains were also scarily fast, tasteless and bland. I think you would get better be better off eating the menus.
The bar didn't change our minds any. After waiting quite some time for our £7 cocktails they arrived at our table with no ice and seeds from the lemon floating in the bottom. YUK!!
Our second night, after vowing not to torture our stomachs again in the restaurant, we decided to go out. Looking forward to a hot shower but no. To our further disappointment there was no hot water, apparently "due to the bad weather", yeah right! So we had to go out smelling of our day... not impressed. Compensation upon departure was refused, "beyond their control". So what!? You are a hotel and you are supposed to provide a service!
Do not sty here! And don’t eat here!
The only thing worth checking out is the Spa. The Fistral Spa is the only good thing about this hotel. That’s why I gave it a rating of 1.
Book a spa day; skip the hotel and the non-existent service.

" Fantastic views over Fistral Bay -... "
Submitted By: Mrs Lee Winnicott
Fantastic views over Fistral Bay - beautiful sandy beach, friendly and efficient staff - many from overseas.
Fresh and tasty food, rooms clean and adequate size, convenient base for exploring north Cornwall coast and, of course, for surfing (well patrolled by lifeguards).
On the downside, frequented by quite a large number of coach parties! To fully enjoy the headland setting, book a room overlooking the bay. The view can also be enjoyed from the lounge bar.

Ate in restaurant the first night and thought the food was excellent value for money. The staff in the restaurant both at breakfast and dinner were excellent and were very attentive. Despite the hotel being very busy the waiting staff did a great job. The breakfasts were 1st class, no complaints.
The bar and the service there was superb, quick, switched on and friendly.
OK the hotel carpet may be a bit dated and the floors did squeak, but for the price paid it was great value for money.
Will definitely be back.
