I booked the Bradbourne House for a surprise weekend away for my boyfriends 21st birthday.
On the internet it looked lovely, clean, and attractive and with it being 4 stars I thought I couldn't go wrong.
It also stated that it had recently been refurbished. When arranging the weekend I asked for them to have champagne and chocolates in the room, as I thought it would be nice to walk in the room and be a nice welcome present.
It is stated on the web site to notify them and they 'will be happy to furnish you'.
On arrival we didn’t find the most hospitable person and showing us to the room I wasn't impressed. It was nothing like the photos and there were no champagne and chocolates. I asked him where they were and he said that he didn’t understand what the member of staff meant by 'fizz and chocs' for us.
Once he had left the room I just burst into tears, it wasn’t going the be the special romantic weekend I had hoped for. To us the room did not look like it had been recently decorated.
The bathroom certainly hadn’t. You couldn’t even close the bathroom door properly because there was no room for your legs; we had to keep the door open. Fortunately we have been together a while now and it didn’t bother us.
Also it was an electric flush system on the toilet and it smelt of the sewers, we had to have the window open all weekend, even though it has done nothing but rain.
Going for breakfast in the morning, we had to sit with another couple as there were not enough tables for us all, this does not make you comfortable and enjoy the little 'fry up' provided.
On the day of our departure I just wanted to get in the car and go home. They didn't even ask if we had had a nice time, when my boyfriend complained, he didn’t seem bothered and knocked £10 of the bill. We would certainly not go there again, and was certainly not worth the money, as it cost £128 for 2 nights.
