The apartments and the resort itself were nice but the food was disgusting. Everyone was complaining. The dining room was really hot and there were flies on on the food. You could see that the day's food contained yesterday's left overs and we had dishes like pasta in... more

Avoid at all costs - the place needs a Government Health Warning and we will never again go to the Canary Islands as a result - so quite an achievement !

if you like Butlins you will love Sun Park. Accommodation was basic but clean. food was edible that was it - nothing more nothing less. Entertainment was absolutely crap and the drinks were served in plastic cups. We expected a lot more - dont know what star rating it has but we would give it a 2.

Sun Park Apartments Are Improved
Arrived here on Feb 1st. Never been before so I did'nt know what to expect. We were self catering so I can't comment on the food. Entertainment looked to be mainly for Germans so I did'nt bother. We spent most of our time out as we could'nt find a sunbed that was'nt broken. Apart from that I found the place clean and well cared for, the staff were polite and friendly so no problem there. A bit far out if you're elderly or disabled but the taxis are cheap so again there's no problem. All in all I'd say the apartments were decent unlike some of the comments made 2 years ago but I understand some issues have been addressed. Pity the same can't be said about attention being paid to the sunbeds.
spring holiday
We stayed at these appartments twice last year we found them a bit worn but very clean andso handy for beach and eating places we really enjoyed it ,we are going again in march this year hoping to have as good a time as last year.We love lanzerotte the people and the climate is superb. We are hoping to get a nice appartment with sun most or all day.
it was great for the money
These apartments are in a nice quiet part of Playa Blanca. They are spacious and have all the amenities you need.Everything is clean, and we couldn't find fault with it.The rooms on the upper floor are recommended as the ground floor ones are passed by en route to the pool. All the local eateries named in the other reviews-Charmers for great English breakfasts, Tipicos, and Jasmine Chinese were brill. We enjoyed it and would go back.Great value for money!!!!!
Paradise for pigeons!
Stayed here from 8th Jan for 2 weeks. Fist there was a mix-up with the welcome meeting, we were given an invite for 10.45 on the monday morning, Su did not show up. It was only during the 2nd week that we realised she arrived at 9.45. When we first arrived the apartment did not look too bad, the kitchen was VERY basic but we knew we would be ok because we had paid an extra supplement for half board. When we first tried the food we were very disappointed, there was NO choice at all. The 2nd and 3rd time we decided to give it another go but walked out in disgust, the food was taken from the kitchen and just left under lights, it was lukewarm, with no microwave to heat it up again but thats if you really found anything appetising! One night we found something that looked half decent and it was stewing beef, we both had some of this but i had rice with mine, this tasted of fish! it was disgusting. Later that night i had hours and hours of violent vomiting and the other, it left we bad for the rest of the next day and for 4 days after i did not have any appetite at all. We were so worried about the state of the food that we chose to eat out every night, putting a big dent in our holiday fund, we knew we would eat out some nights but not every night. As there was only 2 cooking rings and a microwave in the room you were limited as to what you could cook. We eventually found a phone number for the rep (I had originally thrown the invite away in disgust as we had no welcome meeting but found it was still in bin) she saw us that morning and apologised for the mixup but could not understand why. she made a report of my sickness and we told her about the 4 pools and that not one of them was fit to swim in, the pigeons totally own this place they leave their excrement on the balcony railings, (this was never wiped off) in the pools and they also use these for their baths. Yes the cleaners mop your balcony out but they also use the same mop to do your lounge and dining area's, we found something that looked like grey cotton wool under the beds, this area had not been deep cleaned for months! The smoke alarm was covered with an elastoplast, there was sludge in the bottom of the pools, leaves were always a problem because of the overgreen trees, but not one pool was kept in tip top condition, would you let your kids use a pool that pigeons had bathed in? The complex had been awarded 3 stars, that is a total joke, the Sun Royal just up the road was a 4 key and it was superb the food was even advertised to outsiders and the menu looked great, for the sake of just one more star you had a pristine pool and good looking food. No I will never visit this place again. Playa Blanca was great it was a lovely resort and the only good thing about Sun Park was the location, if you do decide to go be prepared, it is not the place for good food, decent cooking facilities, good pools and hygienic cleaning practices!
Worst Hotel I've Ever Stopped In
We went to Lanzarote on the last 2 weeks of August 2006. Before visiting I decided to search Yahoo for reviews on the hotel resort. I was shocked at how many bad reviews there actually was. I decided that no hotel could be this bad... But It Actually was. Our first room was in a secluded section of the resort, with no sunlight on the terrace or in the room itself. The whole apartment was in desperate need of refurbishment. Furniture was left chipped and stained. There were cracks in the wall, which needed painting. Eventually after 2 days we were finally told we could be moved to another room, this time we were moved upstairs to a balcony room. This was slightly better but we only managed to get this room after endless requests to the hotel reception. Most of the staff were rude and the reception staff were un-helpful to us throughout our stay. After talking to many other British people on holiday we found that all of us were having the same problems. In one case a woman was thrown a key to another room when her room was infested with cockroaches. The hotel entertainment was dire; there is a small section of the restaurant, which they call a "cocktail bar". Basically the bar consisted of a four-foot stage with a couple of tables and chairs. You had hardly any room to move, so we spent evenings out of the hotel. The pool area was also dirty. One morning we watched a cleaner sweep the floor and dip the brush in the pool. The bins were left overfilled and glasses from the previous night were littered around the pool area, also attracting ants. Very few sun beds were in working order, the ones that actually did work were dirty and needed a good jet wash. Overall Playa Blanca is a nice place and we would recommend the area for bars and shops along the front. The beach is also a very nice place to spend a day, and a strole along to the modern marina is also recommended. We did not however enjoy or stay in the hotel and would recommend that anyone visiting Playa Blanca avoid Sun Park.
Loved it!!
We have just come back from a week in Playa Blanca staying at the Sun Park. I read the reviews before we went and was really worried, but I didn't need to be, everything was perfect. We went for a nice relaxing time and that is exactly what we got! The apartment was a lot bigger than I thought it would be, the seperate bedroom was great, and the beds were comfy. Went to Majaorca 3 yrs ago and the apartment was nowhere near as nice! The pools were clean, we did struggle a bit for sunbeds but only because everyone wanted the adjustable back ones, and the sun was on them untill about six oclock. The balcony was a real sun trap during the day and nice to sit on with a drink after a night out. Yes the hot water did tail off a bit but only after a 10 min shower and then not completly and it soon heated up a bit. The telly has to paid for but your money goes a long way! There is internet at reception which is 1 Euro for 10 mins or2 Euros for 20 mins which I didn't think was bad value. Breakfast is 3Euros 95 and everthink is in that price, so if you can eat a lot it's well worth it, you can get as much as you want! For eating out we couldn't fault the chinese on the front, at the end of the meal you get a free fan, hairclip and unlimited liquer. Don't go to the resteraunt with the parrots( can't remember the name) we went in on the last night, they took our order then forgot about us, we walked out in the end! The mill on the town is a good bar to go in as is the one next to the arcade, especially if you like watching the world walk by! There are also two english/ irish bars on the road into town Fiddlers bar and The Nags Head although we only found them late on so Ican't say what they are like! We can highly recomend MOLLY'S BAR next to Burger King upstars, all the staff are friendly and speak English, they have an artist on at night. Don't book tours through the reps use Last Minuite Tours, they hand leaflets out around the town, are cheaper and have English speaking guides on the coaches! I could go on all night ,but surife to say we loved it and will go again!!
Oh. My. God.
Well contrary to the opinions expressed above I can say that I would very much try to avoid staying at this hotel. We were put there on a Late deal - allocation on arrival - after paying £800 for 2 people for 7 days, after being sold a minimum level of comfort and luxury, a 3T rating which is Thomson’s own rating system not a conventional star based system. To our dismay upon arrival at our allocated room we were looking out over a corridor and a skip, the 'apartment' itself smelled of damp and dust and some other unmentionables. The room decor was shabby, every piece of furniture was chipped and in some cases broken, one of the chair legs had on it what appeared to be dried blood all over it. Without lab testing I cannot confirm this is what the substance was ;) Also the bathroom door would not shut. It was appalling in so many ways. We immediately complained and were moved to another room which was mostly the same but smelt better. After half hour we worked out how to get electricity. Then after another while we worked out that the fridge didn't work so we went to reception to get someone to fix it. The main problem we had with our room eventually was that the bedding stank of damp and dust - it was really horrible. We had to get the bedding changed but to no avail. In the end we took to leaving the main covers on the bed to keep the smell in so we ended up cold and uncomfortable. The hotel itself was shabby and dirty with paintwork faded stained and chipped everywhere. We found countless instances of things that should have been fixed or cleaned. The bar was disgusting and overpriced. I would not let a dog eat in the restaurant and counted myself lucky that even though I found out that people paid £200 each with Thomson’s to be half board that I did not pay any more than I already did for half board. There is no way this is comparable with other 3T Hotels. We looked at the hotel next door the Sun Beach - same group - and that was lovely and was also 3T. Please be aware that the rep Martin told me that Thomson’s have only just taken up a contract with Sun Park and that ALL Late allocation is placed there. So if you spend a lot of money at the last minute like I did you will be put here regardless and treated like a second class citizen. Of course I am in the process of complaining but I also really want people to know of our experience so they can avoid them, this really was the worst holiday either me or my partner have ever been on. The resort is fine, it was exactly what we asked for so no complaints there, except to say that if you are looking for an element of sophistication in either your drinking or eating you should avoid Lanzarote altogether and go somewhere else. We did not have one decent meal or cocktail all the time we were there. Horses for Courses I suppose.
brilliant
I went to sun park Apartments in August 2001 and it was great.... the staff where nice, easy access and also nice clean and tidy accomodation.
I most also be Easily Please
I have to agree with the last review!!! People must expect to much when going to these places.... I will say that it was very basic but, it was always clean and that is all you can ask for with a 3 star property!!!! What do people want the Ritz for these prices. The resort is in a very good location nice and quite and we had a great time. Would recommend anybody staying here as it was lovely and the resort itself is wonderful. Try the restaurant Tipico Canario on the sea front next to the Chinese as it was really nice and the steak was fantastic. We also had a great trip to timanyfa well worth doing...
I must be easily pleased...
I just got back from this place yesterday, and am glad I read thes ereviews afterwards!! I thought the place was absolutely fine. We got a good deal and, generally, all I ask is that a place is clean - which Sun Park was. The grounds are immaculate full of trees and flowers, never struggled to get a sunbed, buffet breafast was a bargain at 3 Euros, and it was a lovely 10 minute stroll along the promenade into town. Our room/apartment was much larger than expected with a lounge, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. We only slightly noticed hot water running out - but it never did entirely. The electricity stayed on the whole time we were there. The maid did her job brilliantly. The pools were a little chilly to start with, but to us it was a case of "it's fine once you're in"!!The only thing I would say is that the walls are paper thin - so if you have neighbours who like to shout, it can get irritating if they wake you up at midnight/7am. And the beds weren't super comfortable, but they were CLEAN!! Would almost certainly return here for the price and great location.
