Submitted By: Miss J ThomasReached the Sun beach Apartments at 10:30pm and receptionist was very friendly and extremely helpful with guiding us to our rooms and telling us how the key works etc..
Got back to reception at 11pm to ask where to eat coz we were starving!! And taxi was called to take us to the port (2.70 - 3.00 euros each way)
Rooms were cleaned everyday and if you want to sleep in they always come back later at some point, clean towels and change of sheets every other day! And if clothes were left on the floor they were neatly folded and on the bed too! Had lots of pots/pans, kettle, microwave etc but the fridge door inside was broken in places but we didnt care it still worked!
Money left around was never touched either!
Pool was extremely clean but as hot as the sun was..it didnt heat up the pool at all!! Water was freezing and the jacuzzi wasnt hot but both still enjoyable.
Pool bar opened about 4 hours in the afternoon then was shut to open up in the entertainment room inside.
Entertainment at night had Kareoke, quizzes and bingo and was a right laugh, the bar man also was really fun and generous..if he makes you a cocktail and theres too much to fit in the glass you get topped up until its gone!
I didnt eat in the buffet diner (for the half board people) but i heard it wasnt very nice so i suggest go self catering and eat in the 'cafeteria' next to the reception, the food is lovely and cheap!!
Supermarket on site was really good, stocked loads of english foods & drinks too.
Beach and port/beach front was a very short walk from our hotel and your spoilt for choice really!
Loungers on the beach were about 5euros but he never came round for ours!
All in all we had a really good time, no noise at night and not too much in the day either but lively enough to have a good time, really enjoyed it and WILL BE GOIN BACK!!

Submitted By: Mr P J JONESWE FINALLY ARRIVED AT CAY BEACH HOTEL - PLAYA BLANCA, THIS JOURNEY WE WERE TOLD WOULD TAKE ONLY 40 MINS !!
OUR APARTMENT AT THE HOTEL WAS PRETTY BASIC, THE OUTSIDE OF THE FRIDGE DOOR WAS RUSTY. IT TOOK US 3 ATTEMPTS TO GET THE BATH PLUG/WASTE PIPE
UNBLOCKED BY THE SITE MAINTENANCE MAN.
WE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE ELSE AND WE CERTAINLY WILL NOT BE RETURNING OURSELVES.
" The apartments were a typical basic... "
Submitted By: Mr J JonesThe food was poor and would not recomend half board. My son only ate 2 nights out of 7 as the childrens choice was limited.
The food was very basic in taste and not always warm, the breakfast was always slow in being brought out to the buffet and after 9.15 there was not much available.
The complex bars were very expensive with no entertainment during our stay.
Overall this complex would be great for self catering as it is very clean, staff are friendly and the location was in walking distance to the beach and town.
" Sun Beach was a good basic... "
Submitted By: Mrs L McKenzieWe did not eat in the restaurant as reviews kept us away but with a general buffet it did not appear appetising in comparison to the vast choice of restaurants in the town. Must say the Slow Boat Chinese and restaurant typical Espanol were excellent.
The shop was not buggy friendly as it was down a flight of steps but other than that the complex had gentle slopes which made most areas accessible. The play area was ok but needs a lick of paint. Staff were very friendly and maids kept the rooms spick and span.
Playa Blanca is gorgeous and we will be back in 2009 perhaps to somewhere a little more upmarket- no offence to Sun Beach.
" Excellent Holiday.
These apartments are typical 3* they are very clean and spacious but are in need of a update. The staff are very helpful and friendly. On site there are two large Pools and a small children’s pool which is heated. Around the children’s pool there are plenty of toys and swimming aids for the children to play with.
The apartments are cleaned five times a week with towel changes 3 times and bed linen twice. On site there is a supermarket which is very cheap you could buy wine as little as £1.33 a bottle and it was drinkable.
Situated within 15-20 minutes from the Harbour or Marine with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. At lunch time we ate at the snack bar on the complex and in the evenings the nearby restaurants. Wherever we ate we found the food to be very good value for money particularly the Chinese restaurants a banquet with plenty of wine costing £16.00 per person.
On Saturdays and a five minute walk from the complex there is a small market selling fake designer goods which is well worth a visit.
Playa Blanca is a lovely clean resort , It is ideal for couples, middle age groups and families with small children wanting a relaxing holiday.
Overall I rate this holiday 8/10 it is not expensive and very good value for money.
" What a brilliant place, very clean,... "
Submitted By: Mrs R StottPools and area were great, too cold in Nov to go in but still warm enough to get a tan. There were no activities for the kids, as you would expect in Nov, but the evening entertainment was really good quality, the singer on Sat night was amazing, and should go on the X factor, because he was definitely better than some of them. Antonio the barman runs on duracell batteries and never stops running round and is such a lovely man.
Taxis are really cheap, two euros to town, but the walk is dead easy and flat, my mum has a bad heart and bad legs and she managed it every day. Lots of shops selling usual holiday stuff and tons of restaurants (not cheap, stick to apartments) lovely sea front and harbour
All in all a really nice holiday, and I would recommend these apartments to anyone.
The reception staff were wonderful and smiley, nothing was too much trouble for them all and it made a huge difference to our stay....thank you Sun Beach!
" Fab holiday; 3 adults and one child.... "
Submitted By: Mrs D HodgesWe had a brilliantly located apartment, just a few steps down from the pool which you could see on the resort postcard! Frequent cleaning of the apartment and clean towels.
Two large pools and one small baby pool. Arms bands and lilos seem to be kept around the pool area so we could use them. At the time we went there were plenty of sun beds around.
Snack bar cafe with a very good choice of food. There was also a poolside bar for drinks. Staff were extremely helpful here and on reception. We did not visit the on-site restaurant, preferring to sample the local restaurants. Supermarket on site was well equipped.
The promenade is just a short walk away, 10 mins or so, which takes you to the beach also. There was a huge amount of restaurants, Indian, Chinese, Italian, pizza, steak.. even a Burger King if you fancied it. We were spoilt for choice and the meals were of good portions and good pricing. The shops are dotted in-between the restaurants but a further main street of shopping behind the prom exists. Well worth visiting Tequise market on a Sunday.
The only complaint I had was that volley ball was played ALL day by the pool by rowdy groups of young boys which prevented others from using the pool. The ball was flying everywhere-my son was caught by the ball and he wasn’t even by the goals. The goals should be removed from the poolside as this encourages the game to continue all day.
The other minor thing was that the pools are very deep; a graduated slope would help if you are only 5ft something like me, it literally came up to my chin! My son who’s 7 had no chance of standing on the bottom and we therefore had to use armbands the whole week.
Apart from that a very enjoyable holiday - well recommended!

Submitted By: Mrs J BoothLocation to Playa Blanca was spot on, nice walk into resort centre to work up that appetite. As regards to resort itself, it was brilliant. Plenty of nice places to eat, not full of fast food joints.
All in all, it was a wonderful holiday & I would go back to Playa Blanca & Sun Beach apartments again.

Submitted By: Mr J CrooksThe complex is really nice and well maintained and the apartment was as good as any we've stopped in. The maid service is very good and friendly. Always plenty of sun beds (but I do wish they would carry out their threat to remove towels left to reserve)
It was 10 minutes walk to the main beach area. Very small busy beach with a good selection of bars and restaurants, would recommend Mollies Irish bar for live entertainment or Powerhouse if you like live heavy rock.
Plenty of supermarkets in walking distance of the complex. On the minus side the complex bar was very expensive and not very inviting but we went out each evening.
" We have just returned from Sun Beach... "
Submitted By: Mrs J NewmanAlthough our apartment was OK, and staff seemed friendly, what no one mentioned is that the M25 ran outside our window, and with no air conditioning, sleeping was impossible.
Having spent 7 nights without sleep we couldn’t stay any longer - so we have just spent £200 getting ourselves home for a rest. The brochure clearly states that I quote "Ideal for anyone looking for a relaxing holiday" there was nothing relaxing having lorries, van, coaches, motor bikes, cars, taxis speeding up and down outside your balcony and bedroom window more or less all day long and well into the night - in fact nearly all night!
When we complained we were offered other rooms but they were cramped and airless as well and two overlooked the road on the other side. I think it should be made clear in the description of these apartments that two very busy roads run down two sides of the complex and if like us - we were in room 501 you are facing the road then you will not have a relaxing peaceful holiday.
We both live very stressful lives but ended up feeling totally wrecked.
Am now looking forward to a peaceful quiet nights sleep!
Travellers beware.

Submitted By: Mrs C CartonThe pool area was clean and it was quieting down while we were there so loads of beds were available. Although I found the pool quite noisy during the arranged activities and got slapped in the face with a ball 3 times during one water polo game.
Other than that the staff at the hotel were great - very friendly and helpful. And a huge selection of restaurants and bars were a short walking distance away (metal fans check out Powerhouse!)
The beach was clean and busy but it was not too overcrowded.
Overall, my husband and I had a great time. I would go back again and again.

Submitted By: Miss R LeeWe loved Lanzarote and were very comfortable staying at the Sun Beach Apartments. I can safely say that we will be going back to the Sun Beach Apartments at some point in the future. Lovely location.....about 5-10 minute walk to the beach and slightly further for the town.
The apartments are very spacious and considering it is not an expensive hotel (compared to a lot of the others!) we were very surprised at how clean and big they are. We were there from Thursday to Thursday and the only day our apartment wasn't cleaned was Sunday. Also had fresh towels and bedding every other day.
Every member of staff that we spoke to were very friendly and most people spoke very good English.
The outside space at the hotel was very well kept and the pools were very clean. We saw the pool water being tested on a regular basis which was very reassuring.
We ate in the hotel restaurant every day and do not understand how some people have written that the food was cold and not very varied! We felt that the food was very nice and was never cold. There were also different types of food on offer every single day, no 2 days were the same!
The only complaint I would have is that the only 2 English channels on the TV were Eurosport and CNN but I guess that’s what you'd expect when you visit another country. There was not evening entertainment in the hotel every evening but the bar men were very friendly so you could always chat to them if you’re bored!
I would greatly recommend doing the 'Grand Tour' of Lanzarote. Lunch is included and we learnt a lot about the country we were staying in.
Overall we had a fantastic holiday and without a doubt will be staying in the Sun Beach Apartments again in the future.
" Overall, the hotel was not that bad.... "
Submitted By: Ms K CameronWe made the wrong decision going half board as there are far too many nice restaurants nearby, offering value for money and a wider selection. The location of the hotel is ok. Not too far from the beach and bars and restaurants (5-10 mins).
Always plenty of sun loungers and the pool area was clean. Staff nice enough.
No air conditioning in rooms but you can hire a fan from reception which was a god send. We got the last one, so make sure you ask straight away when checking in.
Entertainment not that great but you can go into any of the other hotels for their shows and stuff - as long you buy a drink.
This hotel is basic but clean. I'd recommend it only if you get a cheap deal and go self catering, not half board.
