The apartments were very clean and spacious. Linen changed regularly. Complex clean and well laid out.
Resort was about 10mins walk away. Fairly quiet place with lots of good restaurants across from the sea. Would go back again.

Sun Beach Playa - Avoid the restaurant!!!
My second trip to Playa Blanca. The resort has changed quite a lot and does have something for everyone. A glorius beach. The Sun Beach aparthotel had some good and bad points. The re-furbished apartments were very nice. Clean and well looked after. The reception staff in general were helpful and friendly. The on-site supermarket was well priced and stocked. HOWEVER, DO NOT take the evening meal option. The food was DISGUSTING and we had to eat out on many nights because the food was un-used prison slop. The pool area was very rarely cleaned. Every morning dirty towels, swim wear, bottles, glasses and general litter was spread everywhere. I used the pool once, but because of the slime under foot, decided not to use this again, and went to the beach everyday which was fabulous. The only other negative, which was not the hotels problem was that the property did attract a huge amount of the typical "Brits Abroad" crowd. A big thankyou to the Walsall family who liked to wake everyone up in the early hours rowing and f'ing and blinding. How proud I was to be British.
Not A Bad Holiday
Went to Sun Beach 20 Sept 2007 for two weeks not a bad holiday half board food was not to bad apartments were spacious. Went with my partner two grandchildren grandchildren enjoyed it. I enjoyed walking to the shops at night to hot to go in the day weather was great might go back in two years

Me,my wife & young daughter arrived at the "Sun Beach" on 23rd September for 2 "Fantastico" weeks...! It's described in many brochures as a 4star, however it is probably more of a 3 star...! Don't let this put you off because as a base for a self catering holiday it is actually very good value for money. The reception staff are excellent , especially "Nicole"(promised i'd give you a mention)... The rooms are clean , comfortable with all the necessary items...eg, cooker , toaster, microwave , hairdryer , tv etc.....The rooms are cleaned everyday except Thursday & Sundays due to new arrivals. You have a choice of 2 pools & a children's pool. It's very nicely laid out with palm trees & gardens etc... One word of caution ; be careful on the tiles , when wet they are lethal.....Slips & falls...!!! There is a pool bar which has happy hour from 2-3pm (excellent) then in the other bar/cafe 4-5pm with the added bonus of sky sports , if that floats your boat....!! We didn't really have any of the food in the hotel so we can't really comment...We ate out every night as there are some fantastic restaurants nearby... Playa Blanca Harbour is 8-10 mins away which has a wealth of great eateries... Also try the Rubicon Marina , again a fantastic place for some great food ... A taxi takes you 5 mins and costs 3 Euros....Playa Dorada beach will take you 10 mins to walk & is lovely .....!!! Would we come back ? Absolutely ... If you want a good priced accommodation in a great location then i would strongly recommend this hotel....!!!
A good self catering base
Stayed at the Sun Beach for 11 nights in September. It's an nice enough base for a self catering holiday. Rooms are cleaned regularly, and facilties inside the rooms are what you'd expect. No air conditioning in the rooms, but I suppose for 3 star that's what you'd expect. Our first floor apartment had a patio which backed onto a garden area. Other rooms had a worse view I think. Staff were very helpful. Only spent a couple of hours at the pool as the Dorada Beach is only a few minutes away and is gorgeous. Didn't try the food as we went into the town restaurants every night, but it didn't look that amazing - think burger and chips and you'd be about right. On-site supermarket was supposed to open until 12 every night, but often came home to find it closed at 11. All in all we had a fantastic holiday, but we spent most of the time on the beach and in restaurants. I'd recommend the Sun Beach as a pleasant self catering base for your holiday, but if your wanting a bit better location and nicer overall hotel then opt for paying that bit extra. Resort itself is gorgeous, will definately be back to Playa Blanca.
only go self catering- not half board!
Food really bad - runny raw eggs and undercooked bacon for breakfast, greasy fish, tough steak and cold chips for dinner. Rooms quite clean, staff friendly enough. Lots of sun loungers, pool okay. Ask for a pool view as the other views are a rood or a car park with bottle bins. No air con in rooms but fans for hire at reception if you are quick and lucky enough to get one. Only go here if you get a cheap deal and are self catering.
Great base for self catering holiday
We had a great time at Sun Beach and although we would agree with some of the comments posted, we could not find much fault with it. It is a great base for a self catering holiday, I would not expect apartments to have much entertainment but there was usually something on in the evenings if you wanted it. We preferred to spend our evenings eating out and walking along the promenade. Recommend, Taste of Italy (massive pizzas), Jasmines chinese (look out for the shot glasses) and Tipico Canario. Good places for a drink and a bit of entertainment, Paddy Macs and Charmers bar. There was everything you could need at Sun Beach, a supermarket, restaurant, cafe, bar, pool tables, swimming pool, and only 10 minutes to the beach, shops and bar. We paid to have half board for 5 days at a cost of around £145 for 3 adults, 1 child, which we thought very reasonable and had no complaints with the food. Our kids are fussy, yet they always found something they liked. The rooms were cleaned 5 days a week (not on arrival days) and although basic, were fine. In fact, our room had a lovely terrace and was right by the steps for the pool, perfect! I would agree that probably not 4 star, but definately 3 because of the facilities being good, and the area around the pool could have done with being cleaned more often, bins emptied etc. I also wouldnt go in the pool because it was too cold, it should be heated. The kids 12 & 14 however werent put off by this and had a great time jumping in and on their inflatables. My husband used to go down at around 7.30 for sunbeds to get one with an umbrella, but we have had to do this on every holiday we have been on so this is a problem wherever you go. Overall, we had a fantastic holiday, it was a reasonable price, and are thinking of returning again next year.
sun beach wont be back
stayed here from 23.08.07 until 30.08.07 sun beach was listed as 4 * officialy listed there as a3* more of a1* This place is in dire need of a refit and facelift it is tired and dirty staff look fedup and put out if you need help the reception staff are excellant but on their own are powerless. Food in restaurant is cold and basic eat out plenty out and about and good prices too! Pools dirty and lack of sunbeds again great beach quite near by with great facilities and atmosphere. good points Great location give room a clean and then a good base had good time when not in hotel would go back playa blanca but not to sun beach this was not a cheap deal was v disapointed has 1 animation member of staff but not enough motivation to make most of facilities they do have or keep kids interested. went here as advertised good for families ,, well not mine anyway. Hope you find this usefull .
Brilliant holiday-Sun Beach- terrific
I stayed at the Sun Beach with my partner & daughter age 11 from 26 jul- 9 aug 2007- was a bit apprehensive after reading some the reviews but I needn't have been, it was lovely- accomodation was spotless, maid service 5 days per week and even if you were in , she left clean towels, pool area was very clean, staff were very friendly and helpful- nothing was too much trouble- we were self catering and found the supermarket on site very reasonable and well stocked-10min walk to beach & town centre(2euros 60 for a taxi- which we took full advantage due to heat wave)town center was lovely- full of nice places to eat- if you go be sure to try the steak house near the harbour- food 2nd to none and staff very attentive- also try "Jumbo" chinese restauarant and tapas bar next door , you could stay there for 2 weeks and never eat in the same place twice- beach was lovely too- 3 beds & parasol only 10 euros for the full day-bar staff in hotel were great especially Marco the owner, nothing was too much trouble, also Scotty the karaoke guy- he was a good laugh and always got the guests going- no other entertainment to speak of- although we knew that before we went-down side was the pool was too shallow for my partner- he like to dive in- and the same old - not enough sunbeds- people were claiming them from early doors- all in all great hol and we are sure to return!
Perfect location, brill self catering aparthotel
Im not very good at writing reviews but hope this is helpful. My boyfriend, myself and our son spent 1week at the Sun Beach Aparthotel. Good Points:- Friendly staff, maid service daily(apart from sunday), towels changed mostly everyday, spotless apartment (including furniture), pools clean, just 10min walk to beach, excellent location. Bad Points:- Not enough sunbeds, people had towels on them to save them from as early as 7am(experienced this on morning we got up for day trip), food is ok but im a fussy eater, supermarket had good enough selection but never really knew when it was open, no times displayed. just 2 english tv channels (CNN and Eurosport) Overall id definately go back to sun beach as it is well situated, we where free to come and go as we pleased, and there were no problems at all during our stay. All you really need to bring with you is ur clothes and food, it has everything else!
Good for a cheap deal, food terrible.
We booked a last-minute cheap deal to the Sun Beach the day before travelling. At £480 Half Board for 2 of us for a week we didn't really know what to expect. In fact the Sun Beach is perfectly reasonable for that money, but I'm glad we didn't pay much more. The apartments themselves are clean & tidy, albeit rather basic. Our room was on the ground floor at the very back of the building overlooking a car park - not pleasant, but I suppose booking at the last minute on a cheap deal isn't ever going to get us a sea view. Not that a decent sea view is possible from anywhere at the Sun Beach. Location wise it's actually pretty good, even though it's inland about half a mile. But it is inland from the very centre of Playa Blanca, so it's only a brief walk in to the beach or restaurants. The walk is pleasant and slightly uphill on the way back. Although we had half-board I wouldn't recommend eating at the Sun Beach - the food is truly awful, reflected when we booked in that Half-Board was cheaper than Self-Catering oddly. Staff all very friendly. Only CNN in English on the room TV... a few German channels even though the palce was only inhabited by Brits & Irish people. One day we walked to the H10 Rubicon Palace and were horrified how far it was from the centre. The Sun Beach can't be faulted for location, just make sure you use the beach as the pool is freezing, and eat at many of the nice restaurants in the centre. I've only given a 3/5 rating. I truth it depends on your expectations. This isn't a 4 or 5 star hotel - it is basic, value accomodation in a pretty good inland location - food dire.
