I have just come back from these horrific apartments. We arrived at sunset knowing after reading the reviews it wasnt the ritz obviously after they are cheap and basic, that was fine could live with that, not a problem, but the pool was green, after confronting the staff at the apartments they said for a week they will sort it, we had to go to the beach everyday and one of our party is a diabetic- reason for booking self catering as he neesd to keep his insulin in a fridge- so this was a big problem for us. a week passed nothing was sorted, we confronted them again, in this case they didnt speak english! we contacted the holiday company which where completly useless after spending 30 pound on phone calls to them- the apartments half emptied this green pool and it was worse you couldnt smell any chemicals in that pool and it was flithy! so we didnt have a pool! we used the beach for a week and a half, we found a lovely place called gokcem hotel and used their pool the hotel was fab! apart from the horrible experience from these apartments it never put us off turunc which was a beautiful place, although the locals there asked where we where staying they all know that sunset is a shambles! i wouldnt send my worst enermy there! we also didnt have a hot shower for two weeks and neither did the other guests staying here.
i would honestly read and take in this review as i read the reviews and just booked and went as i thought there wouldnt be a huge problem altho there was i really wouldnt reccommend this to anyone atall. the staff where also so unhelpful!

We stayed for a week at the Sunset Gardens Apartments in Turunc. The accommodation was extremely basic. Although clean, the furniture was shoddy and the kitchenette consisted of empty cupboards and a basin with no plug.... no utensils, crockery, kitchen equipment. The ambience of the accommodation was extremely poor. Thankfully there was a fully operational fridge. We stayed outside most of the time. The pool area was very pleasant and well maintained, though some of the sunbeds needed replacing.
Having booked a last minute holiday, we did not have time to research. Once there, we realised that there are plenty of very good quality apartments for rent in Turunc, we would definitely return to the resort, it is a beautiful, friendly small town with good links to other areas along the coast. We would not stay at the Sunset Gardens again!

We went to Sun Set Gardens Appartments expecting the complete opposite to what we got! This place should be re-named "Faulty Towers" (also named by the locals). the beds were dirty from the bottom up, the sofa bed was broke at each end! The toilet was scaled along with the shower, which alsodidnt work properly as the hot water only worked some of the time which was a inconvenience! Thank goodness for the locals who made our holiday!

We stayed at sunset after booking a last minute holiday. Neither of us had been to Turunc before and after a day trip to the Markets in Icmeler we knew we had made the right choice!
The Apartments were value for money we would probably have been disappointed if we had paid more than 350 each but as we booked last minute we got it for far less than that!
The rooms were clean a good size, basic but for the amount of time we spent in it we were more than happy. We had a balcony which didn't have a fantastic view but was perfect for a quite night of playing cards! We paid for the air con and safety deposit.(£20 for both for 1 week) The air con is essential. ( if using at night leave the bedroom door open as it gets slightly too chilly unless you want to spend the whole night turning it on and off) The room was visited daily by the lovely lady cleaner either solely to empty bins or to change towels and bed linen (every 2 days). The pool was lovely and we spent most days their except for the 2 day trips we took (neither of us like the sandy fuss of the beach). If you want luxury or to spend your whole hol in your apartment this is not for you, pay the extra required and go 5*. The only comment was our room had 1 knife and 1 spoon and one cooking pot not exactly 'self catering', more room only. Other guests seemed to be better stocked though.
The Resort........... I fell in love. We will be back.
We Recommend the 5 bays boat trip the most relaxing day i've ever spent and if you go, buy a snorkle! (the bay were you have bbq if you walk across the beach over the hill there is a 2nd bay, so so beautiful and so many fishes!) We went to Icmeler market (every wed) good if you like hassle and rip offs. Their is a quieter bit were you can find some amazing spices and fresh fruit and veg.
Restaurants, all seem good but our favs are the 2 restaurants next to hotel Turunc BBQ managed by serif and his bro (say hi if you go) and Yunus restaurant (dolphin on sign) try the menamen a tomato type omelette and the pancakes. We also had lunch at a place called Kavala on the beach front really good too. All really cheap but fab food.
Bars to visit M48 and Dream Boys Fun Bar at one end of high street and The Walk Inn at other.
The resort isn't as lively as icmeler or marmaris but that is why we liked it. it had enough for us for a week but if we go for longer next time its cheap and easy enough to go to icmeler and marmaris for a night out.
All in all we loved it.
Had we had a problem though, the only time we saw a hol rep was on transfers and then we were transfered from the airport to Marmaris and bundled into a Taxi the rest of the way!

This has to be the worst stinking filthy holidays I have been on. Gold Trail more like brown trail, 20th August arrived at Dalaman 15.40 met by a lazy Gold Trail rep whom slept most of the time and was texting the rest of the bus journey, which we were told was about 1 hour turned out to be 3 and a half to 4 hours, longer than the flight from Exeter. The ginger haired female rep then gave the us her sole information speech, which consisted of..... and I quote " If you look down to the right thats Marmaris"
She then said for us to get a transfer bus to Turunc, another hour driven by a complete idiot that over took on up hill blind bends whilst talking to his two mates, this was after they stopped off at their mates house for the loo and a coffee while we sat in the taxi for 25 minutes.
On arrival some 4 hours later, we were shown to room 16 Sunset Garden, it was a ..it ..le supposed to be self catering, a filthy hot plat covered in fat and coffee stains, no knives, 1 plastic plate, 1 fork,1 spoon,
No drawers that opened properly fronts fell off, Filthy old soffa that you would"nt want to sit on, 2 single beds that were about 300 years old, shower hanging off the wall cracked tiles every where and a toilet that I personally wouldn't want to sit on for the fear of catching something. Then we were told if we wanted air con that was £20.00 extra. which we paid, but guess what? It didn't work. So we headed for town, telling every body we met that we we staying at the Sunset Garden to our utter surprise, (not) we were laughed at, pitied, some even said, They must be strangers in town, how ever one helpful sole told us of an apartment Called Nivarna Apts which we checked out and paid to stay in for one week at a further cost to us of £175.00 I gave the owner £180.00 expecting £5.00 change but no never saw him again either, But this place was brand new and spacious with a full complement of utensils and clean, apart from the 2 used condoms left in the open waste bin next to the bed. We then went back to the Sunset Gardens and moved out as fast as possible, got our £20.00 back for the none working Air Con. Went to stay at the Nivarna only to find that we had left our camera at the Sunset, went back to get it next morning to find the room empty, camera, hot plate, kettle, and some of the contents that were accidently left in the fridge, forgot to mention the fridge. the thing is we never said we were leaving at any point to the staff and the room shouldn't have been entered it was still ours for one week. When I challenged the 2 guys on the desk they just said they didn't know any thing They got the so called duty manager he was as help full as a chocolate tea pot. We then were advised to get the police involved,very sympathetic, but useless, I asked if I could have a police case number to record the camera theft, answer was no they don't do that and if they did it would take about a year to go through their courts.
We reported the whole incident and our dissatisfaction to the Gold trail service and they couldn't give a toss,and were very unhelp full. To top it all my wife got food poisoning, the runs & vomiting on the last day, to be followed by the 4 hour midnight journey back to Dalaman Airport. On the coach I asked yet another help full female rep of older years if we could have a claim form for the stolen camera and a compensation form for the wonderful holiday experience, To be told, " sorry chuck we don't do claim forms, see a rep at the air port".
I went to the Gold trail rep at the air port who was a dark haired Turkish gent with a mustache and he was the rudest ....er I have ever met wouldn't even entertain listening to me, laughed at every thing I was telling him,said too bad to my situation, not his problem, hotel and stolen camera my problem he said, I asked him for a claim form which he would not produce, and he would only give me a pen and a bit of paper and said he would pass my comments to the Gold trail office, He is lucky he still has teeth.
My wife and I work very hard all year for our break in the sun, and to pay £698.00 for this torture is not on, Future Travel ill advised us saying it was an Ok place to stay and the transfers were only about 45 mins Gold trail reps said the same at the airport on the outward going transfer. No one from Gold trail were helpful in giving us an up grade, not once did the rep visit Sunset Garden to our knowledge or telephone us back with any suggestions, £180.00 to stay else where, its just disgusting the whole shabby experience I will be sending this letter to all concerned. We are In St.Ives Cornwall associated with the tourism trade, And I would hate it if people were treated in this manner in our part of the world, I wish I had read the reviews before booking, Its your job as tour operators and travel advisers to to constantly Check standards and give the service your being paid for.

My teenage daughter Ana and I have just returned from a last minute 2 week holiday at Sunset Gardens.We had a wonderful time there in beautiful settings.The holiday was made more special due to the brilliant staff.Cherry and his brother with Michelle made us feel very welcome and nothing was to much trouble.All in all it was money well spent,I've never seen Ana so upset to leave somewhere.Turunc itself is very unspoilt with a beautiful bay and surrounding views.I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a hassle free and relaxing holiday.Especially keep an eye out for the Angel of Sunset Gardens,an amazing sight!

We stayed at sunset for 2 weeks and had an excellent holiday although the rooms were very basic, its what we expected for the price we paid. If you want a 5 star hotel then book a 5 star hotel.
But the staff more than made up for the basic standard. First of all Cherry and Michelle the bar managers and Memit (cherrys brother) made our holiday. They are so helpful and will do anything to help, and you must try a cherry special cocktail!!
Also we recommend turkish night at the hotel,it was a laugh. Savinch and Melek the
cleaners make the bed, change towels every day. Melek is the loveliest Turkish lady you will ever meet, we miss her! and you will meet her son Eren, who will splash you in the pool no doubt.
The reception staff speak English and will go out their way to help you.
If you are going with Goldtrail, you will not see a rep.
overall a fantastic staff team. a lovely but BASIC apartments in a brilliant location close to the beach and shops for a relaxing holiday

Just thought I had to enter my own and my families views on these apartments, staff were more or less all you could wish for. CLEAN TOWELS WERE LIKE HENS TEETH. I had two children with me, The standard of the room was like spetses in Greece 25 years ago, but the doors shut, tiles were ugly but complete, the smell of sewage was evident, but drawer fronts or doors did not fall off if touched, We were self catering, no cups, no utensils, no crockery at all, no kettle, massive full width crack of worktop, lower cupboard doors had not a single shelf in them, they were just covering the gap.
The food we hate at the apartment bar, was cooked nicely, fresh, and well worth the cost. but you do get the drain smell around the bar and pool area. I would like to reiterate the staff were good. GOLDTRAIL need to get their act together, and force the owners of these apartments to invest some of the profits back into the rooms, before this page is full of negative feedback. I won't hold my breath... Basic does not bother me at all, but a pot of paint and some tiles costs now't.

Myself and my girlfriend have just returned from Turunc and have just read all of the reviews below out of interest as we literally booked the day before! We didn't have a clue about the accommodation or resort,so we had no expectations!! It must have changed over the year,because the accomodation is absolutely fine at present...basic..but exactly what to expect!!
The resort, the locals and the amazing weather should overide any obsessions about the tiles/decor/lack of spoons. (But then we used it just to literally sleep in.)
Rooms were cleaned every day...fridge but no cooker..guess you were meant to cook food on the balcony wall under the sun!? The restaurants are fairly cheap and great local cuisine anyway, fresh towels,shower fine,fab pool,locked safety deposit boxes..nice staff..so close to the main street and beach. You do have to pay for air-con on top, about £20 for one week.
The resort is gorgeous, lovely food, locals full of banter (nice and relaxed not pushy)cheap and great boat trips. It is not too lively but has enough there for a chilled out week. You can go to Marmaris if you want a busier resort, more tourists! Cheap water taxi will get you there in about 40mins.
Definately go on the all day boat trip, have a mud bath and enjoy the sights of this coast.
Well worth a visit, stay somewhere else if you want any kind of luxury..you get what you pay for! We would stay here again if it meant going back to Turunc for a bargain!

Had a great time in Turunc, Cherry and the staff were brill, no hassle, moved around the village each night and found loads of great restaurants, Julie and Kev at the Nirvana
Bar are great hosts and make everyone welcome, try the fish and chips at Pashas must be the best in Turkey, every one in the village are friendly and there is no hassle, definite must if you want a chilled out place to visit. this is our 8th time in Turkey and will be going back to Turunc as soon as possible.
Sunset Apartments are basic but with everything around you only need a base and this place is in the right position for the harbour and beach also shops and restaurants.
