Marmaris itself was a great place - full of fun and good bars and quite as full of very drunk people as I had imagined before going there. There's a good selection of food on offer, although there's not much if you're looking for traditional Turkish food - if you want that go to nearby Icmeler which has a much more tranquil family-oriented feel.
The hotel was OK, fine for a base for the week. If I had been there for two weeks I think I would have gone a bit stir crazy.
The room was a decent size, but the air conditioning didn't work properly despite several maintenance people coming to try to sort it out. This made staying in the room between 11am and 8pm really difficult. However, the beach is only a short walk away so that was the best place to go.
The hotel pool was fairly small - maybe only 10 meters long by 3 meters wide - and lost the sun in the afternoon so again, the beach was the best option.
The staff in the hotel were pretty friendly and would chat away, and they had a couple of Turkish nights which looked fun. Most of the restaurants had some form of entertainment in the evening - Belly dancing, singing, Karaoke that sort of thing. Lots of the staff would also put on their own shows which were good fun. There's a great drag show on the beach front every night which is worth a go.
Overall, a good fun holiday in a good part of the world with friendly people looking after you.

A great basic hotel run by great people, 3 brothers ran the hotel, entertainment & food, all of which were of good standard
The rooms were very basic with just twin beds, shower, WC, pool/sea view or inland view, you could hire a TV and air conditioning for a few pounds per week (a must in the summer).
Unfortunately our room was overlooking the 24hr bar so was very loud, the rep offered a change of room but we declined & got drunk every night so we knocked ourselves out!!
It felt like we were on all inclusive basis as we were told not to pay for drinks, food, ice creams etc until the end of the day, which was great as we didn’t have to carry around the money.
The bar was cheap but had every drink & cocktail imaginable, the restaurant had an inside & outside dining area & the food was divine. I'd recommend the omelettes, they are lush & he will add whatever you want.
The pool area is small but safe for the kids, free sunbed, parasols & cushions with nearby toilets & the brothers will always come over & offer a massage, drinks, food or just chuck you in the pool!
Its 5 mins away from the beach & 2 mins away from the shops, its right at the end of the promenade (non harbour side) & perfect if you don’t want to be right in the middle of the action but have it on your door step. Marmaris can be very noisy!
For the men, go for a Turkish shave! Ask your local barman/porter/waiter & they will gladly take you along, my boyfriend has 2 while he was there although was a bit scared of the cut throat blade & naked flames!

After splitting up with my wife, I decided that I needed a break. I booked through Thomas Cook, who could not have been more helpful. We went through places where I had been on holiday before, and they suggested Turkey for a change. They found me the Ebru hotel which did not charge a supplement for single travellers!!! Yes the rooms are basic, but I only needed it to sleep and wash/shower in.Food at the hotel was adequate, but with so many cafes and restaurants in the area I only ever ate breakfast there. The resort itself is very diverse, with loud trendy bars on the sea front mixed with quieter ones on the mariner and off the front. I met many nice people there, but especially Anita from Norway, whom I grew very fond of, and when our holidays were over went to visit her twice in Bergen, Norway. Another place I shall visit again. So, all in all, Marmaris, and especially the Ebru hotel, is a holiday destination I will visit again soon. Hope this helps.
